I went in for the first time early March (2013) to get a print framed for a donation item for a silent auction and brought in personal items for the house. They spent the time helping me find a frame that would accent the red in the photo (it was taken in Africa) and also helped pick a great mat for it.--which I recently found out they upgraded to museum to really help elevate the photo! I brought in 4 other canvas paintings to get stretched and framed. And after much discussion and playing around, they really helped me come up with the best options for the pieces and didn't pressure me at all. I ended up getting one stretched on canvas and the other 3 mounted on foam core and framed (best decision ever for these 3). They really did take the time to make sure I was happy with my decision! And another thing, I brought in a very sentimental piece from my trip and it was probably the most difficult to pick a frame for but they still pulled as much as possible and helped me come up with a decision that I was very very happy with (I swear it was at least an hour!). I have to say, these guys really do understand the art of framing! I went to go pick it up and was floored by how beautiful it turned out! I loved it and would recommend taking the time to let them figure out what you like and go from there. If you go in with an idea, they really can run with it and their selection is so vast that you really can trust their recommendations and simple tweaks. Truly, the art of framing is mastered here!

A children's area is available with toys and a TV so you can shop without distraction if you bring your kids. A layout area is available so you can go in with your pictures and choose products to complete your layout right there. Urban Scrapbook also offers numerous workshops and cropping sessions throughout the month and over the year. I recommend becoming a member of Urban Scrapbook which entitles you to discounts on product, specials, and "ins" on upcoming workshops. By being a member you also receive weekly newsletters filling you in on hot new product and upcoming workshops, events and important things in a scrapbookers life. Urban Scrapbook has a well lit, large crop room at the back of the store with ample room for cropping groups. They also provide dye cuts templates to help you with your creations. I was overwhelmed stepping into the store, I didn't know where to start. They have everything you need for scrapbooks and other craft projects, including rows and rows of stickers and rub-ons, chipboards, paints, brads, and crafting tools. There's also an entire wall of cardstock paper in all kinds of beautiful colours and patterns. While they had everything one could possibly need for any project, some of the items were a bit pricey, even for a scrapbooking store, I would say. So be selective with your items, because you can get certain ones for cheaper elsewhere. That being said, be sure to check out the back, as that's where all their clearance stuff is currently stocked at half price. I found some really cool cardstock paper back there for really cheap. They also have a room in the back where they hold their craft and scrapbooking classes. You can sign up via their website; I think one usual session is about $20. They also have examples of projects throughout the store, so you can get an idea of what they make. And there's a small play room for kids right beside the entrance, for moms who want to take their time getting stuff but can't find a babysitter. There are two large presentation rooms, the smaller of which features bear statues by Vance Theoret, who sculpts with soapstone, slate, chlorite and Kissi stone, and works with lots of subjects, but his bears are his favourite ... and it shows. They're playful and embody an innocence and curiosity that are almost human-like. There are lots of other original works by a variety of artists. As I'm not much of an art connoisseur, I didn't recognize most, but know the names Robert Bateman and Trisha Romance, whose giclees (high quality reproductions) and limited edition prints are available here. I think sometimes they come buy originals. It's a lovely show space, and there's something for every aesthetic, from landscape and abstract to fantasy and realism. The shop's been around for almost 30 years and has a solid reputation in the art business.
