All of the staff and vets treat my dogs as if they are the most favorite dogs they deal with, the most special dogs they deal with, the most beautiful dogs they deal with--and I know it is not true but it is nice to feel that way. lol. Nevertheless, we are on our third round of rescue dogs at the point, and we still go to Foothill over other places we have tried in the area. The new remodel has also helped the flow of the office A LOT. (p.s. the person who I commented on in my past review is gone, maybe because of their horrible bedside manner and weird upselling).

My cat Luna was very sick, and while the outcome was heartbreaking, Dr. Tom took the time to explain everything clearly, answer every question, and never rushed us. She treated Luna with dignity and kindness, and treated us with empathy and respect. This was not an easy situation, but I truly felt that Luna was cared for as if she were her own. I am grateful for the patience, professionalism, and humanity shown to us during such a painful time. Thank you for helping Luna feel safe and loved, and for helping us make an incredibly difficult decision with compassion.

Dr. Vikas Jaglan saw her immediately, diagnosed a corneal tear, and began treatment right away; he genuinely saved her vision. On March 30th, Peanut was diagnosed with pancreatitis and admitted overnight for IV fluids, pancreatic medication, and IV abx. Dr. Jaglan was thorough, communicative, and kind. As a registered nurse, I asked informed questions about whether imaging was necessary and whether procedures like gallbladder removal, tumor resection, or ERCP-equivalent interventions are performed in veterinary medicine, since my background is in human care. I was not challenging the plan; I was trying to understand viable treatment pathways before committing to imaging costs. Vet Tech Jenn verbally claimed that "duct stones are not a thing"; and I had explained to her that the liver, gallbladder and pancreas are all connected by tiny ducts, which can be blocked by stones. Jenn kept saying that it would only be a tumor and had no idea what I was taking about. Vet tech Jenn was dismissive, offering no real answers and stating "the doctor is going to be short with you too." When I asked about financial assistance, I was flatly told "we don't do discounts" with no further effort to help. Her attitude directly contributed to my hesitation in proceeding with imaging Dr. Jaglan had recommended. After discharge, Peanut was flinching and squealing when we touched her jaw, something not present before her stay (leaving us with serious concerns about her overnight handling with Jenn.) After discharge Peanut improved briefly at home, but on April 4th she deteriorated rapidly (jaundiced, lethargic, and passing tarry stools, which I recognized as internal bleeding). We returned to the UC immediately. Vet tech Carlos was exceptional, very compassionate, thorough, and patient. He walked us through every detail of her care and proactively worked with us to find financial assistance, which meant the world during an unbearable time. Peanut was admitted in critical condition with severely elevated WBC, liver enzymes, pancreatic enzymes, and bilirubin. Dr. Arvind Bagga reviewed her labs with us, and even displayed imaged of internal organs of a dog on the screen to explain what was happening with Peanut, making it easy to follow and understand for my husband who is not in the medical field. He was exceptionally informative, kind and compassionate. On April 5th, Dr. Vikas Jaglan delivered the imaging results with us and we were told Peanut's only options were emergency surgery (with a very poor prognosis given sepsis and critically elevated clotting factors) or euthanasia. My husband and I made the most devastating decision of our lives that day. I carry immense grief wondering whether timelier imaging could have changed the outcome. While the final decision was my husbands and mine, I believe Jenn's dismissive and unhelpful communication (both medically and financially) played a significant role in that delay. Two weeks later, we returned for Peanut's ashes, presented in a beautiful bag with her paw print (a gesture that brought us to tears.) Dr. Jaglan, Dr. Bagga, and Carlos represent everything veterinary care should be. I am forever grateful for their care, and forever heartbroken by this loss. This experience was deeply traumatic, and I would not wish this pain on anyone.

Highly Disappointed with Care and Communication…read more Our experiences here have been incredibly frustrating. Lack of Knowledge & Compassion: My partner brought in a stray cat she had found, and the vet seemed entirely unconcerned and unknowledgeable. They completely missed an ear mite infestation and couldn't answer our basic questions. We have since taken the cat to a regular vet, and the difference in quality and thoroughness of care is night and day. Inadequate Urgent Care: More recently, I called at 6:00 AM regarding a pet that needed urgent wound care. The technician who answered simply stated that vets don't arrive until 10:00 AM. When I explicitly asked if anyone there could assist with immediate wound stabilization, I was met with an annoyed repetition that vets come in at 10:00 AM. It begs the question: why is an urgent care facility answering the phones if you cannot accommodate or advise on urgent medical needs? Overall, the staff comes across as unfriendly and lacking genuine concern for animals. I do not recommend this facility.

Because of her past, she has a hard time trusting people and can be a bit spicy at the vet--but the team at Modern Animal has been incredible with her. They're patient, caring, and truly understand her needs. They've even found simple ways to help her feel safe, like bundling her in a blanket and covering her eyes during shots. Chloe needed yearly dental surgeries due to years of neglect, but thanks to Dr. Maynard and now Dr. Samuelson, her health has improved so much--her most recent procedure didn't require a single tooth extraction. They also caught a mammary mass early that turned out to be cancerous, and because it was removed quickly, it was completely eliminated. The entire team--including virtual care--is responsive, supportive, and always goes the extra mile, even following up after ER visits. As a first-time dog mom, I'm so grateful for the care they've given Chloe over the years.
