Unfortunately, our experience left a very poor & unprofessional first impression. AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE!! Upon arrival, we encountered a sign at the front desk that was extremely condescending and immediately gave the impression of a business more interested in enforcing rules than treating patients with respect. There is a 10-minute grace period that is not clearly communicated beforehand, and if you are even slightly late, the clinic threatens to cancel your appointment and charge a late fee. We were only about five minutes late due to a long line and parking delays, yet we were told our appointment was canceled and a late fee would be applied. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and RUDE AF!!!! , particularly one woman who seemed to enjoy asserting power over patients. She even hung up abruptly on a caller saying, "I'll call you back, I'm busy." When we requested to speak to the manager, the response was only slightly better, still condescending, and we were reprimanded for explaining the situation. It felt very much like being treated as children rather than valued clients. For a clinic that presumably cares for animals, this lack of empathy, patience, and basic courtesy was courtesy was shocking. If you're treating your HIGH PAYING CLIENTS THIS BAD!? HOW ARE YOU TREATING OUR BELOVED ANIMALS? YIKES. The behavior at the front desk, combined with the aggressive sign, makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or welcome. We hope the owners and doctor are made aware of this, as staff attitude can seriously affect a clinic's reputation and patient loyalty. We are reconsidering whether to continue using this clinic and strongly encourage owners particularly more than poor management to retrain front desk staff on professionalism and compassion. Patients who spend significant amounts on pet care deserve to be treated with respect and understanding (especially during their first visit) Once this behavior is put on social platforms such as Yelp, Google. Even tik tok you will suffer greatly by allowing your front desk to abuse your clientele? What an absolute embarrassment. Take your disgusting signs down before you go viral.

I paid at the end, the receptionist called the team to confirm nothing else was needed on my end, then I left. The next day, I was notified that they forgot to charge me an additional fee from USDA, and was told that had I responded to Rosey's messages prior to our appointment "I would have known that". I triple checked our text chain, phone log, emails, and even PetDesk - none of which have anything from Rosey before our appointment on 3/3. Naturally, I questioned the additional charge (there was already a USDA fee that I paid for on the original invoice) and mentioned that I had no correspondence from Rosey leading up to the appointment. I received such a condescending and accusatory email back from her and was essentially told she would not help me in the future. I'm still waiting to connect with management and share screenshots showing that Rosey never reached out to me before our appointment. I completely understand that mistakes happen and I would have been fine to pay the additional fee. However, I don't stand for gaslighting and false accusations.

Dr. Kevin is a calming, reassuring presence, even via text. His compassion for these animals and their grieving owners is evident and genuine. He explained every step of the procedure to us, even details we requested, and tactfully addressed the possible outcomes of both the sedation and euthanasia. Even typing the word is difficult. I appreciated his further reassurance that it was the correct decision and at the right time when he saw the gravity of Xena's condition; I had no doubts, but it was still a balm to my heart to hear it from a professional. I was able to pet her throughout the entire procedure and up until the very last moment we assisted her onto the stretcher. I am so grateful I could spend those crucial final moments comforting her. We preferred communal cremation, so the rates were within the ballpark of other at-home services I had consulted with. However the stellar attentiveness, gentleness, and empathy that Dr. Kevin provided, in addition to his same-day availability on such short notice and all of the glowing reviews here, had my heart set on him from the beginning. Another reason we opted for him over other providers is because he is the one performing the procedure, so we knew what--and who--to expect. It felt much more intimate and personal than a service sending "someone" out. I believe this high caliber of care is how Dr. Kevin so seamlessly blends into the moment: he is another source of the palpable love resonating during such an intense, difficult experience. His demeanor was serene and respectful, and he allowed us plenty of physical and emotional space. Even as he was working, his being there felt as natural as any of my family members. Xena had a peaceful passing in her favorite sunny spot in the flowers, surrounded by her loving family at home. It was the ideal resolution for a harrowing situation, and Dr. Kevin made it possible. I cannot thank or recommend him enough.

I appreciate that they take a conservative approach to veterinary care, offering sound care without pushing expensive "add ons" and extra tests when it may not be necessary. Multiple antibiotics. cough suppressant and an inhaler. She didn't improve. During this time, we were contacted about buying a nebulizer and using colloidal silver and acupuncture was also suggested. Looking back, none of that would have addressed what we later found. Tumors throughout her lungs. What was especially painful was the upselling feeling while we were desperate. On the day we had to euthanize Betty, our daughter first thought she couldn't be present but then changed her mind. We were charged an additional 125 dollars just to be in the room with her. That felt really insensitive on an already heartbreaking day. We spent around $2,000 total between treatment and euthanasia. I understand veterinary care is costly, but what I expected was clearer communication, compassionate guidance, and not feeling pressured into add-ons while saying goodbye to a member of our family.

All of the staff and vets treat my dogs as if they are the most favorite dogs they deal with, the most special dogs they deal with, the most beautiful dogs they deal with--and I know it is not true but it is nice to feel that way. lol. Nevertheless, we are on our third round of rescue dogs at the point, and we still go to Foothill over other places we have tried in the area. The new remodel has also helped the flow of the office A LOT. (p.s. the person who I commented on in my past review is gone, maybe because of their horrible bedside manner and weird upselling).

The harrowing part had zero to do with this particular VCA hospital (who by the way we had been coming to when they were named foothill veterinary clinic before they joined the VCA company.) In any case, all the vets there, Dr. Howes, Dr. Virgen and Dr. Compton have all been beyond excellent, beyond wonderful and so kind and so considerate. As is all of the staff (and I do mean ALL) . I've never had any attitude or any kind of bad exchanges with any of the receptionist staff or the nurses or techs. Everyone has always been consistently wonderful and we have been going there since I think around 2008. Dealing with what CiCi had (carcinomatosis) was an awful thing to go through, but Dr Compton especially at this particular time went well above and beyond. We had to do multiple abdominal taps to keep her comfortable over the weeks and she was always very careful not to take too much so that she wouldn't crash afterwards. With Dr. Compton's care as well as the help of Dr. Howe and Dr. Virgen we were able to gain precious time with our girl before the time came that we had no choice but to say goodbye. Any time we took CiCi, there was never any panic in the carrier or even while she was at the vet. I do truly believe she felt safe and cared for, even during exams and procedures. Kind doctors and techs with loving hands and a tender touch. That final process of putting CiCi to sleep was obviously very emotional and painful for us but Dr Compton and her tech were so loving, kind and so gentle with us and of course with our frail CiCi, and she passed peacefully and calmly with her eyes looking up to the heavens. We are forever grateful for this vet and Dr Compton, Dr Howes and everyone there. They even give a care package to help deal with the grief after losing your most loved pet. Truly... they go above and beyond. Thank you all for being there for CiCi and all our Abbys thru the years. I cannot recommend this vet highly enough. When the time comes for getting another animal, no question we will be coming here.

Dr. Vikas Jaglan saw her immediately, diagnosed a corneal tear, and began treatment right away; he genuinely saved her vision. On March 30th, Peanut was diagnosed with pancreatitis and admitted overnight for IV fluids, pancreatic medication, and IV abx. Dr. Jaglan was thorough, communicative, and kind. As a registered nurse, I asked informed questions about whether imaging was necessary and whether procedures like gallbladder removal, tumor resection, or ERCP-equivalent interventions are performed in veterinary medicine, since my background is in human care. I was not challenging the plan; I was trying to understand viable treatment pathways before committing to imaging costs. Vet Tech Jenn verbally claimed that "duct stones are not a thing"; and I had explained to her that the liver, gallbladder and pancreas are all connected by tiny ducts, which can be blocked by stones. Jenn kept saying that it would only be a tumor and had no idea what I was taking about. Vet tech Jenn was dismissive, offering no real answers and stating "the doctor is going to be short with you too." When I asked about financial assistance, I was flatly told "we don't do discounts" with no further effort to help. Her attitude directly contributed to my hesitation in proceeding with imaging Dr. Jaglan had recommended. After discharge, Peanut was flinching and squealing when we touched her jaw, something not present before her stay (leaving us with serious concerns about her overnight handling with Jenn.) After discharge Peanut improved briefly at home, but on April 4th she deteriorated rapidly (jaundiced, lethargic, and passing tarry stools, which I recognized as internal bleeding). We returned to the UC immediately. Vet tech Carlos was exceptional, very compassionate, thorough, and patient. He walked us through every detail of her care and proactively worked with us to find financial assistance, which meant the world during an unbearable time. Peanut was admitted in critical condition with severely elevated WBC, liver enzymes, pancreatic enzymes, and bilirubin. Dr. Arvind Bagga reviewed her labs with us, and even displayed imaged of internal organs of a dog on the screen to explain what was happening with Peanut, making it easy to follow and understand for my husband who is not in the medical field. He was exceptionally informative, kind and compassionate. On April 5th, Dr. Vikas Jaglan delivered the imaging results with us and we were told Peanut's only options were emergency surgery (with a very poor prognosis given sepsis and critically elevated clotting factors) or euthanasia. My husband and I made the most devastating decision of our lives that day. I carry immense grief wondering whether timelier imaging could have changed the outcome. While the final decision was my husbands and mine, I believe Jenn's dismissive and unhelpful communication (both medically and financially) played a significant role in that delay. Two weeks later, we returned for Peanut's ashes, presented in a beautiful bag with her paw print (a gesture that brought us to tears.) Dr. Jaglan, Dr. Bagga, and Carlos represent everything veterinary care should be. I am forever grateful for their care, and forever heartbroken by this loss. This experience was deeply traumatic, and I would not wish this pain on anyone.

I've been here when highland park animal hospital was too busy and sent me this way - we had a good experience. That is not the case. There is a lack of customer service effort on behalf of the front staff provide: Chelsea, too many systems that provide information with little to none being consistent information, and overall I don't care how quality your product is if I can't access it at the end of the day. I'm trying to do a Regular dog check up - how would this look if I actually had a higher need beyond allergies?? It definitely seems like an administrative and systems issue, and if you can't provide the foundation of your service it defeats the purpose of your providing the service.
