My golden retriever, Buddy, has been to many different boarding facilities given the fact that we have moved three times over the last four years. As such, we've had our share of "boarding" experiences. This is by far the best!! Any anxiety we had upon arrival was quickly put to rest by Dawn's welcoming nature. Buddy isn't around other dogs much so we were concerned about his initial reaction wondering if he'd be overwhelmed. (he's used to being confined to a large pen on his own in previous boarding facilities). Dawn had already planned to introduce the other dogs one at a time to Buddy and allowed us to stay and observe until we felt comfortable to go. We were pleasantly surprised! Dawn's home was a welcoming "home away from home" for our dog. No pens or crates but rather a home where you see dogs at ease relaxing in an organized loving environment. Buddy went hiking and swimming each day and upon picking him up I have to say it was like picking him up from camp. Dawn had all of his belongings packed and ready to go. Rather than seeing stress or nervous anxiety as I often did picking up Buddy, I saw a relaxed happy dog (still damp from the day's swim I might add) Dawn even sent us a picture of Buddy swimming with his new "friends." I don't often take the time to write reviews nor do I bother writing so much. This experience deserved both! Thanks to Dawn and her natural gift in understanding dogs and honestly enjoying their company we were able to relax while on vacation knowing that or dog was having a mini-vacation of his own. DAWN'S DOG BOARDING is my ace in the hole! Dawn has watched my dogs as I zigzagged the world the last seven years. Going away was persistently a big worry before I found Dawn. The question, "Who would give my little guys the care and love they need?" would wrack my brain. I couldn't bear the thought of a cold kennel or a cage at my vets. Then came Dawn. She treats each dog as an important individual in her cherished pack. My older dog, Taz, was given the respect a senior citizen deserved. My young dog, Pinball, is given the time to run and play to his hearts content. Trusted medicine administration e.g. injections(poor Taz), and simple dog maintenance e.g. nail cutting(poor Pinball) have been no problem at Dawn's. Taz was allowed his own slower pace and space and Pinball's exuberance for high-jinx and playmates have always been fulfilled. If it is weeks abroad or an emergency last minute weekend, no matter what, Dawn is the greatest. read more

My husband and I only leave our dog Jesse with family and close friends but we were in need of someone that lived nearby that we could depend on. I felt comfortable immediately upon meeting Dawn. She was relaxed and gave us a feeling of being a true dog caretaker. When we dropped her off our dog seemed to agree and was not distressed at all when we left her. She also had us fill out a detailed questionnaire which relayed her interest in knowing everything about our girl. It was nice to hear that she took her walking and hiking which says a lot about the effort and work Dawn puts into the care and happiness of dogs in her home. I'm "that" dog owner. I make people at work gag with the amount of love and attention I lavish on my dog.Pictures, stories, videos....... So, you can imagine that when I need a place to leave my "huge bear of a princess" I am quite selective who to choosee. I have been so lucky over the years to have found that person. Dawn is awesome. She provides such a safe and loving environment for the dogs in her care. I wouldn't think about sending Luna anywhere else. My mind is always at ease when I leave her with Dawn, I don't worry about a thing. Luna comes home happy to see me, but obviously having had a wonderful visit with her buddies at Dawn's Dog Boarding. When people ask me where my husky mix dog is going while I'm out of town, I tell them she's going to being having a ball in the Gunks, socializing with other dogs and going for long walks in the mountains. For people who can't bear to think of their dogs being in a kennel while they're away, Dawn offers a dependable alternative homestay experience. She's very good about communicating the drop off and pick up and any details about what's going on with my dog at any given time. Dawn is very perceptive about dogs' issues and helps them socialize with each other and feel comfortable and secure. Her place is always clean and welcoming. We have left our 25-ish pound dog with Dawn for a week at a stretch numerous times. Dawn is great. She sends me lots of photos of our dog while we are away and is very communicative and responsive. Our dog is excited when we arrive and all the photos we get show him having a great time in Dawn's fenced in yard with the other dogs. Dawn has been taking care of our Joe when we go out of town, for just under 2 years now. She is wonderful. She's been able to take care of Joe even with short notice, and he's always happy to go. He's an only dog at our house, and I think he loves having the chance to socialize a bit. This is clearly a labor of love for Dawn. Dogs love the whole set-up, which is a welcoming home setting with lots of four legged friends to go hiking with on day-long treks through the woods and swimming in Catskill Mountain streams. We recently used Dawn's to board our beagle, Shelby, for a weekend while we visited friends. Dawn showed genuine interest in Shelby's personal needs, preferences, and comfort. She quickly made us feel at ease. Dawn takes her canine guests on daily trail walks and will go swimming if that is your pet's fancy. When we picked up Shelby she seemed well exercised and happy. My dog LOVES his 'Aunt Dawn'. He has a bit of an issue with separation anxiety but is always willing to go off with her or to be dropped off. He is not like this with most people so I suspect she may rub herself in bacon first. Whatever it is, it works! read more
