Stumbled upon this wonderful cafe as we exited the I-5 and ventured past all the fast food establishments onto this historic and charming avenue. We were looking for a lunch spot to satisfy 3 different appetites. We noticed they closed within 15 minutes and really hoped they would serve us. We asked as we entered and the young man stayed absolutely! Off the bat the customer service was outstanding, he happily and enthusiastically discussed our menu interest items. We ordered a ham/fig panini, tuna sandwich, veggie wrap and a chocolate almond shake. Each item came with your choice of homemade potato salad, fresh fruit or chips. I chose the homemade potato salad-delicious! Creamy, contained a sweet pickle, mustard/mayo and egg. I ate the whole thing. The fresh fruit on my friend's plate were giant red seedless grapes, don't think I've ever seen them that big, had one and it was firm and tasty! As our meals were delivered the waiter said he would bring our dessert over when we were finished. My friend surprised us with the blueberry bread pudding. It was served heated,it was absolutely delicious. Wow. We hit the jackpot finding this place. What a wonderful cafe to have in this community! I noticed that the other side of the venue was a coffee/smoothie/shake service. We have been wanting to try this place for a while. We finally got there Sunday and I was excited to try the pulled pork sandwich. That's when I found out the sandwich shop is closed on Sundays. The coffee corner was open so the husband got a coffee and a cinnamon roll. I got a bacon and cheddar scone. He got a peanut butter brownie to go. It was all OK, we wouldn't order them again though. The gentleman behind the counter was very nice and everything was very clean and tidy. Good music playing. I'll be back to try to the sandwich shop eventually, it's just hard to do during the week when one works at their own job and Sundays are my only free day. Had the hankering for something other than the usual quick bite to eat. I thought I would give it a try here. The sandwich were good just maybe I'm out of touch with prices of food these days I thought $14 for a tinny half yet delicious figgy piggy and a rather basic roasted tomato soup was a bit much. We ate here for the first time recently. It's in downtown Centralia, a short drive east of I-5 and the mall. We started out with an oat milk cortado that was tasty. They use Caffe D'Arte, a dependable brand, for their coffee drinks. We ordered lunch and it took a long time to arrive, which is why I took off one star my rating. We were visiting in the era of staff shortages and I assume that that was the issue that day. Good selection of sweets like cobblers, cheesecake, brownies, macrons, and much more. I got a couple macrons and they are very good. The sandwiches were good as well but my partner said the Olympian was a little less crunchy than they thought it would be due to the toppings. Dawn's Delectables is a wonderful cafe, set right along the main drag of town. My wife and I were traveling south into Oregon and stopped in Centralia for a bite to eat and a walk around town. We were so happy to find Dawn's and had a wonderful experience there. We both had a taste for a yummy homemade sandwich, and we both left full and satisfied. My wife had a BLT on sourdough and I had the Reuben on marble rye. With sides of potato salad, pickles, and chips it was right up our alley. Fresh baked bread and ingredients made these sandwiches so tasty and didn't leave us with the gut ache that can come from lesser quality places. To finish it off, we got a coffee and piece of carrot cake to go for the road. Holy cow, that cake was gooood! Normally, I start with a 4 on my first visit to give me room to add a star after more visits. But in the case, I'm going all-in from the get go. I was in Centralia to photograph many of the old buildings there. The town has done a great job preserving "main street" turning it into an antiques and art district. Then there is this gem smack dab in the middle of it all. Yelp directed me here and the reviews were spot on. Great sandwiches, soups and desserts remenicent of the former Olympia great Fifth Avenue Sandwich Shop. In fact, the dessert selection puts it past Fifth Avenue. Excellent and very friendly service. Immaculate restroom (always an indicator to me of a well run establishment). I stayed in Centralia for 2 weeks visiting family and came here several times over the two weeks. Everything we had was amazing. I grew up with a mother and grandmother who cooked from scratch, especially dessert and breads. You can tell they make things in small batches and from scratch. If I lived in Centralia, this would be a spot I would frequent. It is worth the drive off of I-5 if you are looking for something good to eat! Plus, the downtown is cute. Their scones are excellent and so are their mom's morning muffins. Chicken salad sandwich is also scrumptious! They have a great selection of vegan, gluten free, and dairy free options. Their cashew yogurt parfait is a perfect snack or way to start your day! They have a grab and go case if you don't want to eat there or wait for food. Perfect for a quick drive by. They serve Numi tea which is my favorite! I'm not a coffee drinker, but theirs looks and smells good! Their banana pudding is some of the best I've had and I've eaten a lot of banana pudding growing up in the southern US! They have outdoor seating, wifi and super friendly and helpful staff. I just discovered this place - and MAN I WISH I WOULD HAVE SOONER! I have been there 3 times in the past week and a half and have enjoyed every single thing I have had. I could go broke eating here. I can't wait to work my way through the menu. So many great choices - and not just run of the mill items. You can tell that whoever created the menu has some culinary experience and cares about making the menu exciting with fresh and flavorful foods.
