On vacation, my sister took me here for breakfast. I was surprised a gem like this was hidden away in a strip mall. We opted to sit outside, and it was a bit windy, but sun was shining. The owner was sitting at another outdoor table, and when he noticed I had set my purse on the ground, he brought over a chair. I had sweet tea - very nicely done. I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast, and it was nicely crisp. The home fries were amazing, and over-medium eggs were done perfectly. The staff was super friendly. We will be back on my next trip to Florida in June! read more

Great food and great service. Took a little long to get the food but they only had two people working and our waitress had great customer service and checked on us often. Had the French toast and corned beef hash and it was delicious. They even do Mickey Mouse pancakes for the kids which is super cute. Would recommend! The food really needs seasoning, it's a family run spot so I can't say anything bad. They work hard but the food is definitely mediocre. Service sort of slow, 20 min wait for short order type items. What a change ! This was Mel's cafe . I got a coupon out of St Lucie living and went for breakfast. Whoa baby what a delicious meal! This is a good place for lunch but the breakfast menu has become very expensive. Most things on the menu are almost $12.00. It's a little crazy when the prices jump $3.00 to $4.00 a meal for breakfast. I prefer Grandpas. The place was empty at 8:00 am and the service was not good. I don't know what has happened in the past couple of months but your service is awful. We kept hoping it was just a fluke or you had changed hands and adjustments were happening. This was our third time back and once again waited 15 min for a menu and someone to address us, I could understand if the place was packed! The waitress brought the wrong drink and forgot the one. Several people walked out while we were there. Finally after 25min and watching the young man bus tables and not finish cleaning it off and someone sat there and he pushed the dirty coffee cup & dirty napkin back towards the condiments...that was it we left! Homemade food with a down home vibe and a side of a sassy waitress. This is exactly what I want in my neighborhood diner. We are always made to feel very welcome here, despite our sometimes rambunctious toddler. Food is tasty and no-frills. This place is a joke!! My daughter and I were waiting for a table for at least five minutes. The saw us. Yet didn't even acknowledge us. A older couple walks in and tells them to sit wherever they like instantly. I'm in the restaurant business and this is absolutely unprofessional. I will never return to this dirty diner. Went for breakfast over priced eggs were burnt and bland bacon was so salty. Biscuits and gravy were delicious. Restaurant was dirty over priced will not be going back. Waitress obviously did not know the menu because she asked if we wanted home fries with our meal which it did not come with home fries. We ordered sausage patties they bought us burnt sausage links we were the only ones in the restaurant so they should've been able to cook our food correctly and not burn it. I see these previous reviews and I wonder if we were there on a really, really, bad day or if we were even in the same establishment. Perhaps there has been a decline in service and cleanliness over time? We went in for lunch, it took over an hour, the waiter said they lost our order. When we finally received our meal several of the sides were missing, so we had to wait for those. The manager/owner made matters worse by his lack of courtesy. When we brought the delay to his attention he made a gesture and said "what do you want me to do it is what it is". At this point, we probably should have gotten up and left, we had too much time invested. They were very busy, granted, but no one took care to sweep the various food items up off the floor. The overall appearance of the establishment was dingy. Sorry, we won't be back & we can't recommend. read more

I work within the same plaza as Dawns. I try to use them as a last minute resort just to fill my appetite. Never been happy with pricing. Wow, I will never go there again. It took 50 minutes to get our food, which was just breakfast food. The waitress must have been new, I'm hoping. We had to ask her for place settings, which she still forgot. I didn't get my water right away. We asked for a fruit cup for the baby, and that took forever. The food was ok. Over priced. And not very filling. I got an omelette, which wasn't filled with much. My son got the country fried steak; he said it was overcooked. Never got refills for our drinks. The place was dirty; food on the floors and tables not cleaned up. They weren't that busy. Maybe it was just a bad day for the cafe. But I will find somewhere else. read more

If you want a nice , friendly, homey, family kind of place than Dawn's Café is your place for breakfast. I went this morning and when I walked in was greeted by Dawn herself with a smile and a big hello. Told me to sit anywhere I'd like and that she would be right with me. A minute later she asked if I'd like a beverage and she gave me the menu to look over. I knew what I wanted and ordered the two eggs and bacon with hash browns and toast. The eggs came out perfect, the hash browns nicely done and the bacon crisp without being burned. The staff came by often to check and see if I need coffee refills or anything to go with my meal. Overall a great breakfast, and I will be back more often. read more

This place used to be Mel's Cafe, now Dawns cafe. The last time my husband and I went to grab a quick breakfast one of the servers took someone's order then rolled their eyes when they walked away. We left. It's been 8-9 months so we decided to walk in today and grab a quick breakfast. The server brought out a cup that was completely black and stained, forgot to pour the coffee and proceeded to walk away even after we said we were ready to order. I told my husband to pay for the drink and we walked out. Too many chances to earn our business. Tired of getting sub par service from this establishment. I understand they have changed owners several times but bad service and dirty dishes are unacceptable. They had time to increase their prices on the menu. They could have ordered 50 mugs and served beverages in an appropriate manner. read more

Stopped by for breakfast . . fast coffee delivery (a plus !!) and breakfast was delivered in timely manner but afraid to say omlets were less than desireable . . kinda tasteless. BUT there was a charge FOR EACH CUP OF COFFEE . .each refill was $2.50 YIKES!! Did not see that . . . little pricey there. This had only been right around the corner from where I live so I decided to stop in and give them a try :) when I walked in it had been very welcoming and cute and small. We sat down and got our menus and I decided to get harsh browns with over easy eggs. I did what I normally do and take it and mix them up, add some salt and pepper, and squirt a bit of ketchup onto it and it's delicious :) I recommend doing this to anyone who hasn't yet. Overall the service wasn't too bad. The waitstaff has not been very attentive and the food had taken a while to come out. The prices had been really good and very affordable. I also ordered fries after I was done and my bill had only been 7$. That's a steal if I've ever heard of one. My friend had gotten the French toast with home fries and her bill had one been 7$ as well. So it's defiantly affordable to anyone who wants to try them :) I would 90% recommend this place to anyone read more

I actually uncovered this gem through the ChowCab website. Everything I had was beyond phenomenally flavorful and delicious! I rarely dine out, but made an exception after getting delivery of my breakfast from ChowCab because the food was so outstanding. Their breakfast items are simply unbeatable! While the restaurant was completely empty, we had a very nice waitress who addressed what the specials were and was very attentive. But the eggs were really runny, tasted like my French toast (both taste like cinnamon). My eggs also had a hair in them, coffee was sort of bland and tasted watered down. Organized train wreck. The staff was very nice however the wait time was way to long for can food. I didn't like that the can gravy and various can foods were in view for me to read, and the brands looked cheap at that. Also as when I walked in I was told to sit anywhere and then I was moved for sitting at the "group table". The owners daughter seemed to pull the mom card out on the other waitress a lot and seemed to be handing most of her duties off to the other waitress which was both sad and entertaining. The owner spends to much time accounting for which waitress will be assigned to which customer and not enough time on the quality of the food, clutter and cleanliness.
