She told me to schedule for the HypoCure surgery and that it would work for me. I sent her a list of questions via email regarding my diagnosis and surgery. She had her assistant call me and tell me that the surgery wouldn't work for me after she told me to schedule the surgery. Dr. Ferragamo never explained why. She never called me back even though I emailed her and called. As a Doctor you should know if a procedure is right for a patient. It's completely unprofessional to have a medical assistant call the patient and try to explain about YOUR MEDICAL DECISIONS. Why did you see me twice and tell me that this would work for me? Why would you give me information on the surgery? Why would you tell me to schedule the surgery? After you decided that you would not do the surgery you had the medical assistant send me to an orthopedic surgeon whom I saw already and who told me to get a second opinion. This tells me that you never looked at my records or check my X-rays because he is the one who ordered my Xrays in the first place. I have never experienced anything like this. This is unprofessional and it worries me about your competency. Professionalism and courteousness goes a long way.

Dr. Yu took the time to thoroughly review my X-rays and clearly explained every detail of the procedure. He made sure I understood both the pre-surgery and post-surgery images, which really helped me feel confident in my decision. He is an excellent listener and explained the procedures and medications fully and patiently. His staff also deserves five stars for their caring attitude and professionalism -- they truly make you feel comfortable and well cared for throughout the entire process. I'm extremely pleased with the outcome. Several of my family and friends have asked about my experience because they've been nervous about having similar surgery, and I've assured them that with Dr. Yu, they'll be in very good hands. After spending about 3 minutes with Dr. Wilkes at my initial consultation I was told that I needed…read morea joint replacement in my right foot. I was trusting and agreed to the surgery. Two days before the surgery I received a message that a script for pain meds and antibiotics had been submitted to a pharmacy that I had never used in the past. And I had never used this pharmacy because they didn't accept my insurance. I contacted the office multiple times and was told the mistake would be corrected. Since the script had not been properly submitted by the day of the surgery I mentioned it again, both to the OR prep nurse and Dr Wilkes. I was assured the meds would be available post op. But they were not. Since the surgery was on a Friday (don't ever have surgery on a Friday) I was forced to go the weekend without meds. On Monday I contacted the office 3 times and was told the messages would be relayed to Dr. Wilkes. But Monday evening the pain had become so bad that I required a trip to Sutter Roseville ER. (See attached pic) The ER provider submitted the script for pain meds and antibiotics immediately. After a couple of months post op and still experiencing intense pain in my right foot I question Dr. Wilkes as to the surgical procedure that he had performed. He assured me the "joint replacement" had been successful and that it would take a few more months before I would have any relief. After seeing Dr Wilkes multiple times and getting the same explanation re. the surgery I decided to see a different podiatrist. Upon the first visit this new podiatrist scheduled an MRI of my right foot. Long story short, the MRI did not show that the joint had been replaced. The doctor mentioned that she was unable to determine what had been done during the surgery by Dr. Wilkes. She also mentioned that the joint was "destroyed" and that a second surgery would be required to fuse what was left of the joint in question. There are other negatives associated with my treatment from Dr. Wilkes but I'll skip over those to keep this review as brief as possible. If you're considering surgery with Dr. Craig Wilkes I would definitely advise to seek a second opinion.

Takes the time for the patient to reflect back to be sure the explanations are well understood. I've been an intermittent patient over the years and the care has been outstanding and complete. Her approach is to be very patient. She offers a conservative approach in allowing the body to heal itself. Her medical assistant Karen is simply amazing. They have been paired up for a couple decades. This brilliant pairing shows in the care provided. Absolutely 5 stars in every aspect.
