Do not go here. Dr Basso's medical group is dangerous. Just look at what they did to my toes. My right toe was the worst. Left toe bad but not as damaged. They were supposed to take care of ingrown toe nails on my big toes both feet. The pictures tell the story. This practice took over Dr. McKibben's patients. Dr. McKibben retired. I had to go find another podiatrist to heal my damaged/botched procedure. No medication for infection. Do not go here unless you want your toes to look like this. My right toe will never be the same. I've been coming here regularly for the last few months for treatment. Staff is friendly, wait times are minimal, and Dr. Lewis is phenomenal! read more

Amazing podiatry physician. Very knowledgeable and thinks outside the box to resolve patient medical issues.

The Dr and medical staff at this location were fine. However, the follow through of the support staff and billing practices should direct you elsewhere. Our experience was last fall (2022) and as I am looking for a new podiatrist I am compelled to write this so others can avoid our frustration. I went to have my inserts reordered - TWICE the staff confirmed this was done however they never actually provided the inserts. Adding to this confusion was there assertion the inserts weren't covered by my insurance however (1) they were covered the prior year (2) the office ordered the same exact service for husband and it was covered (more below on this). When my husband ordered his they took his credit card and charged over $200. I routinely followed up explaining it was 100% covered by insurance and they needed to refund it. The insurance company called the office and spoke to the staff. We provided the office staff with hard copies of the EOB showing it was completely paid and all supporting documentation. They refused to refund the payment. Life got busy and I did not pursue the refund through the credit card. PLEASE save yourself the frustration and look for another doctor. This is the first yelp review I have ever written but I feel so strongly about this I want to share. read more

Dr. Basso, had stated he could definitely help with a severe case of pins and needles feeling on the bottom of my Fathers feet. The pain level was at a 7 1/2 out of 10 before the procedure. Dr. Basso gave false hope that the pins and needle feeling would be lessened. After a payment of $ 30,000.00 cash and believing Dr. Basso could help. The result of the procedure did not provide any pain relief. It actually increased the pain to a 10 out of 10 on both of his feet. Now my Father suffers with extreme pain 24/7. The procedure provided did absolutely nothing but drain his savings account to zero. I am still considering calling the medical board. My grandparents are staying at a retirement home and Dr. Basso will come and clip all nails (toes and fingers) for a mere $65.00. For a nail cut, are you kidding me. What a RIP off. My mother goes and clips my grandparents nails. We absolutely refuse to give another dime to Basso. read more

Held up my treatment for over 2 months because the office claimed I needed a new/updated referral. I was advised that under my health insurance status no referral was needed. I have been a patient of this office for over 8 years and their is no excuse for this epic health care failure. I should mention, that I have many years of experience in healthcare and two siblings who are doctors . read more

Dr. Basso was not wearing a face mask while seeing patients. You would think that while we are still in the middle of a pandemic AND that the current guidelines for Yolo county state that masks need to be worn indoors regardless of vaccination status that a medical provider would be following safety measures to keep vulnerable patients safe. The waiting room is also dirty and packed. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Shady billing practices. I normally would not publicly shame a local business, but I feel compelled to warn the community. The short story is that the insurance company rejected a claim for services due to the failure of the provider to submit the claim timely. Rather than dispute the denial with the carrier, the provider has, without explanation, repeatedly billed me for the entire rejected claim and has provided false information about the insurance coverage. I'm now forced to file a grievance with the insurance carrier to fight the bill, even though the provider knows that the denial was their fault, yet is trying to collect from me. As reported by others, the doctor also wasn't wearing a face mask during the Covid mask mandate for health care facilities. Go elsewhere for podiatry services. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Tracy Lee Basso for two years. My experiences with this podiatrist has been very positive. Dr.Basso is very professional, yet kind and caring. I appreciate his knowledge, especially in regards to pereferal neuropathy. I have benefited from his prescribed treatment and as a result, my neuropathy pain has lessened substantially. I highly recommend Dr. Basso and his friendly staff. The overall office atmosphere Is pleasant. I have never had any issues in regards to the processing of my health insurance, as the front office is efficient. read more

Was going here for months and months for chronic pain in my feet, and never got any closer to an answer. But instead of admitting he didn't know what was wrong and referring me elsewhere, he kept trying treatment after treatment (many of which were expensive) that did nothing, or even made the pain worse. The other staff there were fine, no issues, but Dr. Basso himself is rather condescending. My concerns about the ongoing, debilitating pain were usually dismissed as exaggeration. After a while it made me think I /was/ exaggerating, even though I was slowly becoming more and more disabled due to the pain. Not right. I finally found an orthopedic surgeon who figured out what was actually wrong and I am now in the (long) process of getting done the surgeries I need to fix it (1 down, 1 to go). Thank the stars I did find him. If you have a simple issue, you'll probably be fine going here. But for anything complex or rare, I'd search elsewhere. read more

I had the opportunity to see Dr. Aitali for a foot work injury. He's very knowledgeable and respectful of your time. He gets to the point and simply wants to help you to get back on your feet. I highly recommend this place. read more

I was referred to Dr. Basso by a friend who is a physician. I went here with worries of surgery, or some other very expensive treatment, after talking to another doctor about my foot. I did not feel confident with the care from another facility, so I went to Dr. Basso for an EXPERT opinion. He took the time to talk with me, examine me thoroughly, review my medical records, then gave me my options and his recommendations. In this time of rushed cookie cutter medical care, I really appreciate the time Dr. Basso took to ACCURATELY DIAGNOSE my medical condition and thoroughly treat it. I'm 90% recovered and well on my way to 100%. The all of his staff are friendly, professional and helpful. I am really happy with my treatment and the overall experience. read more

Dr. Basso work on my toenails that got funky after years of endurance running and training. Eventually he removed two nails - my big toes. What I liked: He kept appointment times, was personable, and the procedures worked. What could be better: The office feels like a little dark, and the staff is professional but not the most chipper. read more

Dr. Basso was fine, knew his facts. However, I must say that the staff was incredibly incompetent and rude. At that time, I had UC Davis SHIP insurance, and asked specifically what the incurred costs would be. They told me that it was a $15 copay that was to paid that day. I agreed to this. When they suggested that I get an X-Ray for my bunions, I asked AGAIN what the TOTAL costs would be and what I would be billed by both the practice and the insurance. They told me that there would be no other cost. After I graduated and did not have SHIP anymore, I got a bill in the mail stating that I owed $64 as a deductible from my insurance. I made a phone call to remedy this situation, and was told that I made them sound like I was misled. No, I was not. I was straight up lied to. Don't bother reasoning with them in a professional manner, all the staff is going to do is push blame on me. As a student, I made 100000% sure what my incurred costs would be. This place lied about what those total costs were. I would avoid this practice and seek out others in Davis. read more

I was referred to Dr. Basso by a friend last year. Dr. Basso and his staff are just fantastic. I had pain for years in both of my feet and he took care of me. He explained what my issues were and why I was having the pain. He took X-rays to show me the details and how he was going to fix my feet problems. I had surgery on my right foot in January 2018 and by the end of March 2018 I was ready for my left foot. His staff is very helpful! They got all the authorizations needed from my insurance and they are prompt on paper work which gave me a huge piece of mind. I was able to focus on my recovery and not the paperwork. He is very knowledgeable, caring, patient and has a good sense of humor. He answered all my questions. I had never had surgery before this and he made the process feel seamless. He had me come back to see him regularly which was helpful to reassure me that I was making good progress. I am so pleased with my results. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a podiatrist. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Basso. I met him years back when I took my elderly father to see him. We both found him to be gentle and charming. He explained everything. Because of my experience taking my father to appointments, I asked my primary care physician for a referral to see Dr. Basso when I needed podiatric care. Yes, I could certainly find a doctor closer to home, but I am more than happy to drive from Elk Grove to Davis to be seen by Dr. Basso. He is a consummate professional and a very lovely person. read more

I was told by my Internist that I had plantar fasciitis and should see a podiatrist. I actually called dr McDowell on Coyle ave in Carmichael but was told the first available appointment was the following week but could see Dr Basso who comes to this office a few times a week. So, the next day I was seen by Dr Basso. Within a few minutes he diagnosed me and said I didn't have plantar fasciitis but needed an imaging scan on my right leg which he set up with the RAS imaging center downstairs (this is the St George Medical Center). The scan showed that I had a DVT (blood clot) in my leg. I was sent back up to see Dr Basso and was told to go directly to the ER! So---I'm pretty sure Dr Basso's quick diagnosis saved my life. A later CT scan at the hospital showed that I also had a pulmonary embolism (blood clots in my lungs). Five stars for Dr Basso! read more

I do not recommend this business at all. Horrible customer service, rude billing, much miscommunication, especially what actually transpires and what gets billed . Trying to settle the billing is worthless as the woman was rude and unhelpful. You will come to dread recorded messages to your phone and email accounts. This is a highly self-important "portal" with code names and passwords to negotiate through simply to relay basic info. Run away from here to an actual well-functioning office that does not attempt to double bill you, , play the "portal" game online instead of straight communication, and use the phone to deliver recorded announcements instead of talking. They have time to do this, I saw one person in the office waiting room and the two women "working" (receptionist and billing clerk) in the office were gossiping about the patient that had just left the room to use the bathroom. ps When asked biller if I could speak to the doctor about the issue, she said I would have to make an appointment if I needed to speak to the doctor. Not a good sign. read more

Dr. Basso has twice performed surgery on me. There were problems both times. The second, far more serious than the first, required repair surgery which I had done by another doctor. I agree with the prior post to some extent about the office. I would never refer anyone to Dr. Basso. read more

I highly recommend Dr. Basso for any podiatric needs. He and his team are extremely thorough and have helped me with two persistent foot problems. When I go to Dr. Basso I know all my questions will be answered and my specific needs will be met. First, Dr. Basso surgically removed a rather painful plantar wart after less invasive treatment didn't work. I was on my feet pain free within a few days. 6 months later, I came back to Dr. Basso after sustaining an injury to my toe from a rock climbing accident. I trusted him and his team from my first round of visits and asked for another referral to Dr. Basso from my primary doctor. Although I didn't break any bones in my toe, I was experiencing chronic pain with daily activities like walking months after the initial injury. With a regimen of rest via a CAM walker boot, laser treatment and a topical NSAID, Dr. Basso has greatly reduced my pain level. Even during times of frustration with my injury, Dr. Basso was able to help me understand the sometimes slow process of healing and encouraged me to persevere with his treatment plan. Today I am on my way to being active on my feet like I used to be pre-injury. Additionally, when Dr. Basso recommended a treatment I was unfamiliar with, MLS Laser therapy, he helped me understand how the treatment would work, providing supplemental readings at my request. He helped me feel confident and comfortable with the treatment. Dr. Basso clearly cares for his patients and always has their best interest in mind. 5 stars! read more

The care was good, just a few things that I found a bit odd: First, this office looks like it hasn't been renovated since the 1980s and it's a grossly stereotypical doctor's office: Male doctor with all female staff. Second, I had to wait 45 minutes for my first appointment. Annoying! Third, after I had a wart removed, they scheduled 2 check-ups. For my first check up, I had no copay - great! But, when I went in for the 2nd check-up, they told me that there was a copay ($25)! The receptionist said that the copay is waived for 10 days after the surgery, but my second check-up was schedule 13 days after the surgery. I just found it odd that they suggested an appointment time outside the range of the free check-up without telling me about it beforehand. Not the biggest deal in the world, but again - it's not right to keep patients in the dark. read more

I was referred to Dr. Basso in April of 2015, when I began developing a sharp pain on the bottom of my feet. On my first appointment, not only did the staff take x-rays of my feet but I was evaluated by Dr. Basso. As it turns out the pain was due to my flat feet. Since I had been using orthotics for years, it never occurred to me that my feet were in fact getting worst. After the evaluation, Dr. Basso explained to me the x-rays, how my feet were affecting my walking, balance and how they were causing the new pain I was experiencing. After listening to my options and his advice, I decided to move forward with surgery. I had my right foot undergo surgery in June 2015, and it was a success (I was walking 6 weeks later). November 2015, I had surgery on my left foot. Once again, it was a success and began walking on my boot 6 weeks later. For someone who had never had a surgical procedure done before, I am glad to have been referred to Dr. Basso. He made the procedure less scary and having regular follow-ups, assured me that my recovery was on the correct path. Overall, I am extremely happy with his care. read more

Fixed my broken toes before they became a twisted mess. They got me in quickly and Dr. Basso surgically fixed my toes before my excellent insurance ran out at the end of the year. :-) When you call their office a "real human" answers the phone and you don't have to sit thru the "listen carefully, as our menu has changed crap..". Personalized service is so much better than big medical center - they knew who I was when I came back for my follow-ups. I went to Dr. Basso's office in Davis a two weeks ago for some pain in my right foot. He was funny and straight to the point. He outlined what my options were. He even mentioned that he could use a laser to reduce pain, but it was not covered by insurance. I was impressed that he had the latest technology (for a small practice). His staff was nice, especially his medical assistant Sue (I think that was her name). The only reason why he doesn't get a five is because there tend to be a wait in his office. I noticed that many of the patients brought their own books, so they were used to it. read more

Dr. Basso is the VERY BEST. My husband has been suffering for 10 years with severe bi-lateral foot pain. He was diagnosed by 4 other podiatrists, with plantar fasciitis. He has had the injections, physical therapy, wore the boot, expensive shoes, several orthotics, you name it, he has tried it AND NOTHING HAS HELPED HIM. The last Podiatrist told him that there was nothing more he could do to help him. My husband gave up. Finally, Dr. Basso was recommended to us by a very good Orthopedic MD. Although still leery, my husband finally decided to go and see Dr. Basso. Dr. Basso ran some tests and diagnosed my husband with bi-lateral Nerve Impingement. He DOES NOT have plantar fasciitis. He proved it on the Ultra Sound and with other tests. If any of you are reading this and have the same story, do yourself a HUGE favor and go see Dr. Basso. He not only has an amazing bedside manner, he is the 'go to' expert in his field. My husband has elected to have the tarsal tunnel surgery and just be done with pain. We can't say enough great things about Dr. Basso. THANK YOU SO MUCH DR. BASSO!!! Randy and Kim read more

I saw Dr. Basso once for Pinpoint laser treatment and twice for follow-ups. I walked out of his waiting room on my 4th visit, during which I intended to have a 2nd laser treatment. On every visit, Dr. Basso was late. For my initial appointment, he was over 35 mins late and I was the 1st patient of the day; the morning I walked out, there was a patient in front of me and the doctor was already 20 mins late at 9:40. Dr. Basso is a charming person, and I don't doubt his medical skill or knowledge, which is why I returned 3 times. My complaint is with his untimeliness, the curtness of his office staff with one another (!), and the outdated/ seemingly unhygienic condition of the facility itself. (All the time I spent waiting gave me the opportunity to observe my surroundings.) I don't expect all medical facilities to be state of the art, especially in this economy, but elbow grease and equipment maintenance are close to free: once, the exam chair was broken, and twice the computer protested. Sadly for me, the pricey Pinpoint laser treatment did not resolve my problem, which I do not attribute to ineptitude on Dr. Basso's behalf, but I won't spend my time or money in his office if I try the treatment again. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Basso for three months for severe pain in my left foot. On first visit they took x rays and did not look at x ray ordered by my primary care doctor. After a very quick look at the films he told me I had tendonitis from flat feet. He suggested a cortisone shot (which I got) and then orthotics. The shot did not help at all. Had to wait three weeks, in pain, for plaster molds for the orthotics so they could contact my insurance company. When I came in, after three weeks, they still had not finalized with my insurance company. They told me I had to pay the highest co pay before they could start the inserts. I paid it-what option did I have? Now I waited another three weeks to get them, pain is escalating. Finally got them. Wore them every day, no improvement, for two weeks. Went back for check up. I told him I was not improving. Now he says it could take 1-2 months to work, first I heard of that. Also, brought up laser treatment, not covered by any insurance, which is pricey and a temporary fix if it works. Told him I couldn't afford that. Made another appointment for one month to discuss laser, didn't he hear me? Went to my primary care doctor a week later. I was still wearing orthotics and still no relief. I told her I felt I was not getting any help from Dr. Basso. She suggested a MRI on my foot after she looked at it. I had the MRI. It showed the tendinitis he diagnosed but also showed arthritis and plantar fascitis. How did he miss those two things? I am currently finding a new podiatrist, hopefully one who will listen to what I say and can find a course of action that can give me some relief. I have already wasted 3 months. :( read more

I went to Dr. Basso after having another DPM remove a toe nail. I had a traumatic experience with the removal. I had not been able to get my toe to heal. I had the removal on 7/27/13. After numerous visits to the Dr. office was not able to see any progress in getting it healed up. By November I was getting paniced and made an appointment with Dr. Basso. By the time I was seen, my toe had an open wound that hurt all the time and was infected constantly. I finally made an appt. with Dr. Basso and he felt that my toe had been damaged from silver nitrate sticks that were used in the initial removal, and on another occasion. He started me on an antibiotic, and had me come in and he cleaned the dead skin from the nitrate sticks that were used. He made sure that I had no pain during the procedure, and kept it numb thru the night. I was so happy that I had no pain at all. The first time I had it scraped by another Dr. and I was frightened to have the procedure done another time, because I almost had to go to emergency room after the first time, He then prescribed a great ointment and gave me new instructions for the care. It is now December and thanks to Dr. Basso, have been able to get the open wound healed and can wear shoes again for the first time in 5 months. My thank you goes out to Dr. Basso and his great staff! They are all so nice in that office. I will continue to see Dr. Basso with any other problems that I may have. My sincere thanks to their office. read more
