Three years ago I met Dr. Meredith to discuss years of lower back pain which I delt with with lots of exercise, ice packs, and OTC pills. I was a fully functioning, world traveling person with a good life. After Dr. Meredith operated on me twice and filled my back with fusions and titanium, I'm now a homebound invalid who uses a walker/cane, and I can hardly walk to the mailbox. When I was seeing another Orthopedist I realized that we disagreed as to the nature of my injury and subsequent surgery. I requested a second opinion and was (thankfully) referred to Dr.Meredith. I began having muscular twitching; numbness tingling; loss sensation and was referred to neurology. He ordered an MRI. After a cervical and lumbar spine MRI neurology referred me to Dr Meredith due to the results of the MRI notating: bulging discs in my neck; multilevel spondylosis; stenosis; and a T12 tumor. I waited 1 month due to Woodland Healthcare only has 1 spine orthopedic Dr. who is Dr Meredith. I came into my appointment to an 1 1/2 wait to meet and be greeted with the following verbal communication: He told me there is nothing structurally wrong with me; that the radiologists are not Drs and use big words on reports and over diagnosed me. He told me he cannot help me and to go back to neurology which is a complex field of diagnosis. He began to get up and walk out and I communicated I still had questions. So he sat back down. I asked about the T12 tumor and he stated it's nothing. When speaking to my chiropractor he stated it can potentially compress the spine. I verbalized this to Dr Meredith who replied not really. He did not offer any physical therapy. Told me I can do whatever I want for exercise and when I asked about weight lifting he replied it's fine. He also did not review the neurologist lengthy summary which also relayed detailed notes in reference to the MRI findings. I will seek a second opinion. However I would not recommend this Dr to my friends or family members. I had a friend with me at this Drs office who was also highly concerned about him as a Dr. For someone who preaches surgery prevention he did not recommend anything to help my condition and denied there was anything wrong with me. To note in my records I was diagnosed also with Scoliosis of the spine years prior. With all of the above proven diagnosis via MRI and prior X rays that revealed scoliosis none of these indicate being structurally fine or normal. read more

This guy is incredibly credentialed educationally and training. He's very kind, professional and self confident... almost arrogant. His self confidence almost (ALMOST only!) made me feel that he was a tad dismissive about the seriousness of hammering a bunch of metal in my back. I'm getting a second opinion at UC Davis -- again, the seriousness of preposed surgery just warrants it. But if the 2nd supports Dr. Meredith's surgical recommendation, I'll be back with him , even over Davis. read more

I have seen several orthopedic surgeons over the years for my degenerating lower back spine. All wanted to do major surgery fusing L2 through L5. That seemed so dramatic and unnecessary to me that I kept looking for the right doc. I am so glad I was referred to Dr. Meredith because he is phenomenal. His philosophy is to minimally do what is necessary, which in my case was fusing L3/L4. I was in the hospital one night and walking the next day. We all have heard the horror stories of back surgeries not really being successful. Not true here, I am walking, dancing, and active in ways I have not been in over five years and my surgery was only in August of 2015. Also he entered from my side with only a small incision and no cutting of muscles, etc. even thought he is in Woodland and I live in Rancho, I would have driven hours to get his quality service and knowledge. read more

Went to Dr Meredith for a second opinion for a back surgery I had years ago, and as of now I have a morphine pump to help with the pain and he Dr Meredith said he could help me get rid of the pump but would be a painful surgery having to put in a rod and screws to hold me spine. My husband and I both suffer from degenerative arthritis and are patients of Dr. Meredith's. After years of "back problems", my husband re-injured his back and was in terrible pain. He spent 8 months on oxy, had to use a walker to keep from falling, and was miserable until he found Dr. Meredith. In May 2018,he had posterior lumbar decompression surgery. He recently played 18 holes of golf. We never thought he'd play again! For myself, I've had "neck problems" for many years. After living in pain for over a year, Unable to walk, and able to care for my children, work etc... I met Dr. Dennis Meredith. He was referred to me from a good friend of mine who had spine surgery that was a complete success! After going through several different orthopedic surgeons (with no success) I finally decided to give Dr. Meredith a call. It was the best decision I've ever made in my life! I was at the end of the road as far as quality of life, I'll never forget my first appointment with Dr. Meredith. I was in tears, in pain, he grabbed my hand and promised me that he would not give up on me.
