I am brand new to acupuncture. I am trying this out due to TMJ and back pain. Appointments were easy to make and they offer a variety of time. They stay open late two days a week allowing me to come after work. It takes around 30 minutes at 5pm to drive from Downtown. You are also allowed to drop in, which is a huge plush when you can't locate an open appointment. Parking is free and plentiful. The location is very clean, quite and relaxing. There is a bathroom and they offer water. I was greeted upon my first arrival and I had and have had very pleasant experience with the doctor. I was a bit nervous about accunpuncture in general, and especially community accupuncture- getting poked with needles in the company of others seemed awkward. I finally got over that trepidation and gave it a try, and am a HUGE fan, and have been going weekly for the last 8 months. There are a number of reasons why I'm such a fan of Davis Community Accupuncture; 1. Itay is an amazing care taker. He asks a lot of questions, investigates your symptoms carefully each time, and is very caring and sympathetic. If you have questions, he spends a good time explaining, in detail, his approach and what you can expect about the response of your body to treatment. Despite the fact that there are a number of other patients there, he remembers you and your conditions (as well as your progress over time), and feel that he's 100% vested in you. 2. The clinic is an oasis. The chairs lie back and are super comfortable, the lighting is soft, the music is soothing-- I get in there instantly feel relaxed. I come out feeling so relaxed and rejuvenated- better than even coming out of a spa! 3. For those suffering with conditions that conventional medicine often can't help with (in my case, a mix of insomnia, a weak immune system (getting sick way too often), and bad allergies)-- my experience with Itay is that his treatments have been amazingly effective. 4. It's incredibly cost-effective. My insurance doesn't cover accunpuncture, but at a sliding scale of $20-40 a treatment (your choice), it is an investment I can make in my well-being. A few years back I had some chronic, unknown pain that traditional medicine could not figure out. After 8 months of dealing with the pain and not getting any relief, I found DCAC. Not only was my pain gone in 2-3 months of treatment, but the cost was much less than other acupuncture clinics in town. This is the second community acupuncture clinic I've been to (Oakland Community Acupuncture), and it was just as excellent. The environment is relaxing and clean, and Itay the practitioner is very friendly and caring about whatever problem you're having. You check in with him every week about how how you're doing. Make sure to book your appointment online about a week ahead. I went in because I've had problems falling asleep and staying asleep- sometimes I'll go for a nights with one hour of sleep. It's important to know that it may take a few visits to notice any differences, and over time I have definitely felt more relaxed because Itay was working on relieving the stress points. Once he puts the needles in, allow yourself to relax, and fall asleep (which means you're really relaxed) and your body will tell you when you're done because you'll start feeling fidgety. My apologies to Itay for posting this review so late, but had some issues with my account. I have been seeing Itay for a few years and was impressed from my first appt. I was a complex case and he was able to help me and my body and emotional state are far better than it was before. There is still a ways to go, but I am happy with where I am now. Really appreciate the sliding scale because I would not be able to afford him otherwise and his expertise combined with wisdom, patience and caring make him one outstanding acupuncturist. I also appreciate that he is closer to my home and I don't have to travel a long distance to access his care. Dr. Itay is really incredible. I have had digestive issues for years and I was taking medication for it. I was seeking an alternative so that I could get off medication, and so I checked out this clinic. Within the first session, my bloating was gone (which I'd thought was just how my body looked at this point). After 3 or 4 sessions, my condition was 80% better and I have been off medication for around 6 months now. I've been seeing Itay weekly for the past two and half months. I really enjoy his demeanor and wisdom. I have found more relief of my foot pain with Itay than from two podiatrists and a chiropractor. We have still have some work to do to get the issue resolved, but I don't think this is Itay's fault. I'm glad I decided to try acupuncture. The practice has a long history, plenty of research behind it, and Itay is very good.

Wow! This should be a six star because when you go in with a physical problem, you get it fixed. It might take a few times (so does taking pills for 14 days every day), but when you're well, you don't suffer getting to that point. Scared of needles? I was terrified of needles, but there is no pain. If you can feel anything at all, Itay will take out the offending needle and continue to treat you with the ones that you can't feel at all. I used to believe that Chinese medical practices were "ancient." But after visiting Itay, I discovered it was ancient wisdom. He is caring, gentle, kind, and really wants to help you gain your healing. I've been to enough acupuncture clinics now that I can say that this is the best one in northern California. It all has to do with your electrical system in your body, and you do have an electrical system. And then your system gets off, and you need a tuneup. Well, he can explain it better than I can. When I first went after he first opened, there were a few people each time. Now, you might want to go in on off hours. He is very busy because he is very good. Try it. You will be surprised how wonderfully relaxing it is. Most people fall asleep while they are healing right there in the clinic. It is magnificent! Lose your pain. I find it to be very reasonable. You can book on line at their web site. The clinic is clean and calming. Itay (the owner practitioner) is most caring, calming, non judgmental and friendly. The intake appointment was very thorough. He asked quite a lot of questions and made me feel quite comfortable. I always feel relaxed and calm after a treatment. Because of schedule changes I have been seeing Tenisha who is very friendly, upbeat and caring. She too asks lots of questions and they both explain and thoroughly answer your questions.
