I wish I could be writing a better review about this company, but in all honesty, I can't. From the beginning, Davis Painting treated our job like it was not important. The "owner", Brett, who said he would becoming out to our home to do the estimate never showed up, he had something more important to do and instead, sent the man who was to do the work (which we found out was a sub contractor and does not work directly for Davis Painting). Setting this up for you, our house is about 1150sqft and all we were requesting to be painted was our kitchen, living room and entry/hall way. We have wood cabinets in the hall way which we asked to be painted white and the interior doors (6) to be painted white inside and out. We were told by the painter doing the walk through, it would take 2-3 days max. Not a large job at all, probably pretty small to most painting contractors. I received 4 estimates and went with Davis because they were the least expensive. That, was my mistake. I'm a firm believer in "you get what you pay for" and we sure did and not in a good way at all. Moving on, day one, the workers were supposed to be at our place at 8, showed up at 830 needed to put paint samples on our wall to confirm (he knew exactly what colors we wanted before hand mind you) then left till 11am supposedly picking up the paint for our house. Came back, prepped, sprayer broken, left for another 2 hours to "get another one" then came back and proceeded to use our primer that we purchased because he "forgot to bring some". Primed some spots including spraying all the the hinges on the cabinet doors with primer, which is a no no, then left. He and his assistant were maybe at our home actually working a total of 2-2.5 hours. Next day same song and dance, shows up late, sprays the ceilings, smokes some cigarettes, leaves for 3.5 hours to get paint because he ran out, went to Irvine to fix another job and eat lunch. I had to call him to make sure he was returning. Came back painted a bit, took all the hinges off to clean them (not in order, so now my cabinet doors are a bit off, adjusting the hinges isn't working, they are custom cabinets) then left. Another day of about 3 hours total working on our home. Third day, same stuff, gone, back and forth, " finish the job" then leave. There were so many issues my house was a sea of blue tape! Over spray all over the place, the cutting in looked like a child did it, walls with primer still showing through, paint peeling off all of the cabinets and door frames. Called Brett and said how unacceptable this job was and I was assured it would be fixed. Cue the second crew...again late showing up (one scheduled day they were supposed to be here at 7am and at 7:09 I received a text from the owner, Brett asking if it was ok if they just come back the next week instead of that day and also he stated that "maybe I should have text you about this yesterday." Uh, yeah. Ya think?) , more efficient and knowledgeable than the first crew I will say, nice guys...but in the end, we are left, still with the paint peeling off of the attic opening in our ceiling, the tops of door frames not painted, door hinges with paint on them, a fridge with overspray all over the side, a cabinet drawer over sprayed, sliding glass door over sprayed, doors not painted inside and out...to name a few things, the list goes on. This wasn't a big job at all, but this is our home and we take pride in it and are working on revamping it all and it's not cheap to have work done. We have done all the work ourselves and paint was the one thing we decided to hire professionally. We were told we would have a professional outcome and quality work and we're left with being treated unprofessionally and mediocre work. We should have just saved the money and done it ourselves. The people making 5 star reviews sure got a way different experience from Davis Painting than we did. I sure hope no one else's home gets treated as ours did. read more
