We also lived hundreds of miles away so had to do all quotes and walk throughs via phone/ text/ facetime. Brian was very responsive from the beginning and called me during his walk through of the house to ask questions, and ensure that he captured exactly what I wanted done inside the house. Now, I had only seen the house ONCE before so there were things Brian noted that honestly I didn't even remember about the house -- I felt very comfortable and could trust Brian from the start. Brian's quote was competitive but the important thing for me was the schedule - his ability to start (and get the work completed) before we moved in was the driving factor. We talked about a few different quotes because there was work that I "wanted" done but wasn't priority so I wanted to know the cost with and without those things - and Brian gave me options. Throughout the project, Brian gave me daily updates, with pictures, or would call and confirm/ ask questions before moving ahead to ensure that I approved anything we didnt discuss before. Brian and his team also helped me with misc things around the house (like bringing packages in, moving some other things in the house to the garage) When we showed up on moving day, I was VERY happy with the way the house looked compared to what it was before Brian and his team painted. The ONLY issue/complain is that they could have done a better job with the clean up. They did their best I am sure, but missed a few spots (I have white paint on some tiles, paint on some trims, paint came off when they removed the masking tape, etc) And while these are minor, it does make a difference! I highly recommend Kim's Painting. Brian has fantastic attention to detail, and was able to match colors that other painters had struggled to do in the past. He's also able to tell you exactly when he can blend new paint seamlessly into the old, saving you money. Most other painters will default to just painting the entire length of all wall. I contacted Brian to get a quote on exterior painting on about 3/4 of the exterior of our house and for interior painting of the common rooms. He came out right away, gave me an extremely reasonable quote, and let me know he was just starting a big job in LA and so it would be a few weeks before he would be available. About one month later, he and his crew came out for the exterior painting. I didn't make the best color picks because I failed to do the patch test. (That's on me, obviously.) But Brian helped me "fix" my mistake with minimal cost and time by repainting the garage door a different color. The end result was very nice. We scheduled the interior painting for the following week, and that was done in 1.25 days, which helped me save on hotel costs. I had a small job where I needed three ~100 sqft accent walls painted a different color. Each wall was to be painted just a single flat color, window sills included. Just had Brian Kim and his team finish painting the exterior of our house, plus the front walls, metal trim on all gates, front door, garage door and rain gutters, and had 6 fascia boards replaced. Had several other Yelp 5 star reviewed painters bids and Brian Kim's was the most reasonable for the amount of detail covered in his proposal. The amount of prep they do and the attention to detail was beyond what I was expecting. It took a week to paint my 2600 square foot, 2 story house not including one day of thorough power washing. Brian and his team took great care to keep from damaging plants and our alumawood patio cover, and on the last day his whole team went around the house a few times to do spot touch ups and to make sure there were clean lines between different paint colors. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Don't let his other reviews fool you. We had a nightmare of an experience with Brian from Kim's painting. We should have known from the very beginning with how many touch ups he was going to have to come back to do. There was overspray in a bunch of places, rough finish and cracks. He kept saying that he was rushing and that "this isn't the way I normally do lacquer." The first major issue we had was when we came home to see the cabinets for the first time we noticed that there were drips of paint in a bunch of spots that looked like there was a half hearted attempt to clean them. Upon further inspection we noticed that they had splattered paint all over our newly upholstered cushions in our breakfast nook. Brian flipped the cushion over in an attempt to hide it and never intended to tell us. A few days after the job we noticed the paint was already cracking and peeling in a bunch of spots. Brian said that he would come back in a few weeks to do touch ups. After a few weeks went by I checked in with him to see when he could fix the paint. He said that he was sorry he ruined our cabinets and it wasn't worth it to him to come fix them and would just reimburse us. He sent me some rude and extremely unprofessional texts arguing about the amount. I had to keep reminding him that we still had not received the money. He said that we would have to sue him to get the money from him. We still have yet to see our refund and our cabinets look terrible. I wish we had gone with someone else. I found Kim's Painting through Yelp and messaged them. Brian responded back right away and I got a quote via chat and pictures. He came over to do an in person consultation the following day, so he was better able to adjust my quote to a lower, more size appropriate number (Zillow pictures are deceiving). He was able to squeeze me in 4 days later from my first message even though this was a really last minute request after our delayed closing. Brian did the outside of my house. It looks great and you can tell that he used good quality paint. He came on a Saturday to power wash the house and took the rest of the week to paint. He was very careful with the plants near the house and did a good job cleaning up. My only caution is that he does not do carpentry so if you need rotten wood replaced you will have to find your own carpenter. You won't go wrong hiring Brian. read more
