Another important aspect of education for me was ethics, and the school imbued us with a strong grounding in treating bodywork as a profession and encouraging us to put client care first. My fellow students had lots of different goals, from medical massage to sports and deep tissue, energetic work - a great range of interests and we shared our plans for the future. It's been 8 years and I'm still in touch with a good number of them. I continue to take CE classes and return to repeat classes in modalities I love, just for the joy of being in class with teachers I respect and students who are invested in learning from the best. Just got back from my massage with Amanda Lee at Davis Massage Center. It was Grrreeat! She is very personable, highly skilled at her craft and just flat out knows how to make you feel relaxed because she always has the most relaxing music. I received her deep tissue sports massage and her overall body massage multiple times. Both were great and EFFECTIVE. Her deep tissue sports massage is my favorite because I have shoulder, knee, and back pain from basketball and she attends to ALL those areas in one session! She always asks how I'm doing during the massage and to voice any concerns, which is great because I've had therapists go for an entire hour without ever checking with me on how I feel and just assume they are doing a good job. My shoulder takes a lot of attention and she is able to get the right areas every time, which provides relief that actually LASTS. I definitely got my moneys worth because the price is perfect, especially if you are a student like me with a lot of stress, a weekend warrior, or both. read more

I am 35 weeks pregnant and just had the best prenatal massage ever thanks to Chelsea Bell! She was all ready when I got there, room was nice and toasty compared to the brisk weather outside:) She was thoughtful and sensitive to my gigantic belly. She had lots of pillows to make sure I was comfortable. And gave me time to find a comfortable lying position. She was gentle but effective. Baby stayed asleep the whole time and I had no contractions or leg cramps:) And I feel great the next day! Actually slept well last night too! I highly recommend this prenatal massage! I don't often write reviews, but Amanda at Davis Massage Center has inspired me. I have been to her twice now and she is truly a gifted masseuse. I have had good massages before, but honestly with Amanda I feel like I have found the best there is. I search and this place comes up with good reviews. First up, I called and it sounded like chaos over there, nearly didn't go on that alone. Arrived to find it was worse. It is in what looks like a medical office plaza, so I expected professionalism and accessibility. Nope! They REFUSED to open the main, accessible doorway, instead insisting I climb steps, which I was struggling with, so if you need mobility aids, write this place off immediately! None of the pictures tell the tale, the place is cluttered and dirty. There was an older and younger lady constantly yelling at each other in I am guessing a Chinese dialect. They showed me to a room, it was early evening so light was still coming in through the windows, and thank goodness for that. I sit down and start taking off my shoes and notice the rugs are nasty, then I turn and look at the bed, there is this big brown smear stain about where one's butt would go, hair all over, the sheets are all wrinkled and worn. At this point I had had enough. I get up (they never closed the door by the way) and the younger girl rushes in asking if things are okay. I tell her no, she needs to change the sheets. The other older lady is yelling at her even louder and then she tells me no, the sheets are find and lay down. I say clearly they aren't fine, but she keeps telling me they are clean and have a "laundry stain." Their arguing reaches fever pitch at this point as I say I am leaving and she begs me not to go, eventually saying she will put me in a different room. How would that solve the problem, that the place is chaos, they refuse to accommodate people, and they don't care about cleanliness? I tell them they have some problems and I am don't want to deal with this as I leave, having to literally pull away from her grabbing my arm. Something tells me this place is far from legit, if not something downright bad.
