If I could give Emily 10 stars out of 5, I would. I have had three massages by Emily so far, and each time was pure relaxation, grounding, stillness, and peace. After my first massage, I knew that I wanted to see Emily regularly. I've had quite a few massages in the past, but they all seemed to be missing something; after my first massage with Emily, I felt a deep level of peace and groundedness that I had been yearning for after all of those past massages but never could find. First, Emily herself radiates a powerful energy of peace, warmth, and compassion. You feel that she genuinely cares about you and your wellness, and wants to understand you and what you want for yourself. She is very patient, and very kind. She is also very communicative and quick to respond to a question or request you may have, and is also very accommodating if you need to reschedule. Second, she gives wonderful massages. They are the right amount of pressure--firm but not crushing, but not too gentle that you don't feel any release in your muscles. They focus on your whole body, from your feet to your ears to your face and head (something that I have never received from past massages, which would focus heavily on just one area of my body [mostly my back], even though I never specified a focus point). As she combines elements of Swedish massage, Thai massage, Shiatsu, Reiki, and other techniques in her style, her massages truly stand apart. Emily responded quickly to my SOS after a gym injury, and was kind and empathetic in her response. I was thankful to have someone who was willing to meet me on such short notice. She is calm and attentive to your needs, and unobtrusively asks for feedback during the massage: "where does it ache? Is this soft/firm enough?" Her hands pressed just enough pressure for my particular needs on my shoulder/back area, and she can intuitively feel whether your muscles are ready. I'm glad for the reassuring presence of an experienced, intuitive, compassionate masseuse in the area :) Prices are competitive and reasonable. Scheduling is easy and straightforward. I was past my due date so I wanted a natural method of encouraging labor. Emily was able to fit me in the next day and give me a relaxing massage (which my achy and very-pregnant body needed). I had my daughter two years ago and am still raving about Emily. She's exceptionally kind, and amazingly skilled. I saw her every few weeks for prenatal massage. I had bad back issues going into my pregnancy, and she made them a non issue. I made the mistake once of not seeing her for over a month and got all knotted. It was great proof of her magic hands to see what happened when I didn't go. She also does prenatal yoga. I've been to a number of different masseuses over the years and Emily is the best. I appreciate her warm and quiet personality and her massage skills are wonderful. I look forward to every massage because I know that, after she checks in with me about where on my body I need attention, she will develop a custom massage for that day's issues. Particularly helpful, since many of my aches are sports-related, is that she is a runner and knowledgeable of how sports like this can affect the body. I had one of the best massages of my life with Emily. I like firm pressure and she was able to provide just the right amount of pressure. I especially like having my feet massaged and asked that they be a focal point. I have requested that from other therapists and have never been satisfied with the foot portion of the massage.
