William Tell True Value Hardware - Feb. 2026 - who would think you'd find culinary tools here?!

Feb. 2026 - they may not have extra wide aisles and huge shopping carts…read more What they do have is a huge and varied inventory. Not just a "take it or leave it" feeling. It reminds me of an old-fashioned hardware store; where you didn't have to buy 100 nails, if you didn't need that many, Besides the expected tools and hardware, they also have gardening supplies, plant specific potting soils, and fertilizers. Charcoal and propane grills. Fireplace pellets, water softeners, and plenty of salt for the snow. They have a few toys for kids, and some culinary tools, the kind you'd expect in a place like Williams-Sonoma. The staff is available and will come over to offer assistance if needed. They also know what they're talking about. They're not glorified check out clerks. So you don't get some mumbo-jumbo answer because they don't know the answer! Someone mentioned that their prices seem high; they seem fairly reasonable to me. After I've found what I'm looking for; I enjoy wandering around the store just to see what's there. It's discovering novel items, or something you've been looking for, but couldn't find in the expected venues that's most enjoyable.

I went to this dealership in Feb to get a price on a Cub Cadet ZTS2-54, a $5K machine, talked to…read morethe salesperson Ken and was told he had to check with Bob. Neither Ken or Bob got back to me. In March I again went to Reardon Briggs asking why I didn't hear back from them and to get pricing on a ZTXS4-54, a $8k machine. Ken said he had to check with Bob and he'd call me, well I'm still waiting!!! Why would anyone do business with this company. I did go to Bradys that day, they were helpful, but didn't have that machine in stock. I have since purchased the ZTXS4-54 at M&H in Middletown, Matt was wonderful to deal with.

I had my tractor serviced and have had a very different experience entirely. For starters they are 6 months behind in servicing anyone because they have one mechanic someone quit and they don't see a need to replace them. I called in October and I just got a call last week. It has been 4 months. They picked up the machine for service. They informed me the tie rods were broken and it would be 1200 more. I said thats fine proceed. A day later they called me and said another part was broken its 300 and an hour labor. I agreed again. My bill came to 14 hours of labor. The tune up of the entire machine and all its systems was 4. The tie rods and housing were ten? I find out later they had the new helper that is in training working on my machine. The extra part I had to pay for is clearly something they broke while taking it apart which is why I didn't hear about it until the next day. I have tried to find where replacing tie rods is over three hours but cannot. When I asked the technician why so long he responded that well we had to wait for the parts? Was I paying for labor while we waited? My tractor isn't practice for your trainee. How dare you. Worse experience ever. If you are lonely and you want to chat up an old man at the tractor store well then yes this would be the place to go. It's that nice country feel. When I asked the owner why did I have to wait 4 months to get the machine in, his response was well I waited a month and a half for an oral surgeon! Poor dear, you can go to someone else, I needed a kubota dealer and did t really have a choice. Not to mention hey that's your mouth that is disgusting go to the doctor for the love of God. Its that backwoods country bumkin mentality that makes this a dying business. Shame on you. Shame on this. No excuse for a business. 14 hours labor?

I have been coming here for 10+ years, always first before Lowe's because it is so clean and easy to navigate. Eileen seems to know everything about the store from memory. Andy and Brian don't sit still, they are always flying around helping everyone find the right stuff. I recently went there looking for furniture hardware to fix my bed headboard, right before the store closed. Glenn and Lou both helped me design a new bolt/nut setup to fix the pieces with stronger parts so it wouldn't break again, while using the existing drilled holes so it looks perfect. I was the last customer out as they were shutting off the lights and then I heard it was even Lou's birthday...stayed late to help me with a $10 purchase. This is how True Value earns the loyalty of their customers and takes the stress and uncertainty out of the average DIY jobs. Glenn and Lou could tell how important this repair was to me, and they gave it the same attention as a major renovation. It is amazing how cheap it can be to fix/maintain things instead of buy new ones. Take some digital pics and bring to the store and tell the crew to give you whatever you need to tackle the project. Be sure to rent tools from them too, so easy and cheap! They will even deliver the equipment to your house for you. Get Benjamin Moore paints from them too, good stuff lasts longer than junk and requires fewer coats...your time is valuable!

I met with Dawn Harris who handles the Trex decking orders. Dawn was very professional, & knowledgeable. She handled my order from designing stage to the final processing order stage. I ended up having some material which was too short & needed to be returned. I ended up going to the poughkeepsie store of Page Lumber as the size of the new material I needed was in stock at this location. I scheduled a pick up of the old material from my house as it was too large for me to return in my car. The old items were picked up from my house on 5-31-22. I never received a receipt for the pickup. I contacted the poughkeepsie store & spoke with someone by the name of Meghan who told me that she would email me a pickup receipt for my records & that credit for the return would be processed with 5 business days. I never received the pickup receipt & I have emailed her 3 times. No response. I am also still waiting for the credit for the return which is just about 600.00. I have placed numerous calls to poughkeepsie store to inquire on the refund. They either never answer the phone OR when you do finally get through, you get bounced around from dept to dept, person to person, OR voicemail in which no one returns your call. Very very unprofessional horrible experience I have had with this location. I am still waiting for my credit. Needless to say I will never shop the poughkeepsie location again. I would rather wait & order from the Pawling location.
