TL;DR - This was my first manicure and pedicure so I do not have a great basis of comparison, but my experience here was great and I plan on coming back for more. As stated above - I have never had any kind of spa/salon service like this before, so I cannot speak to how much better or worse this pace is compared to competition. My girlfriend took me, and she said it was good service based on what she has experienced before and expected, but we were charged a bit less than she expected based on other places so she was quite pleased with the value provided for cost. Comparison aside, the place was clean and friendly and my hand and feet feel great. If you haven't had a manicure and/or pedicure before the best way I can describe it is that you come out feeling like your hands and feet got a nice new haircut... they just feel clean and fresh in a pleasing way ‍ I did not get polish, but my girlfriend did. I can't speak to details of the process since I don't understand them, but she is very pleased with the work they did on her. I don't think she got any special nail stuff (acrylics or gel or whatever) just a nice solid polish. I will also add that we all but walked in because another place couldn't honor the appointment we made with them, so I was pleased that they accommodated us so well on short notice. *I noticed some other reviews noted that the workers here were not friendly and chatty. This is... kind of true. They were very quiet and seemed to have a "do not speak unless spoken to" attitude - which I think is ok. None of the ladies who worked on us spoke English as a first language either, which I am sure makes being chatty in English awkward to difficult for them. I certainly could not have engaged them in their language either! So if a vital part of the experience for you is a boisterous chat session, this truly may not be the place for you. But if you prefer peace and quiet it is quite nice! Also when my girlfriend and I did engage the workers, they did chat with us and were very friendly! Just don't expect them to initiate conversation with you. read more

Worst place to get a regular pedi. I had to come home and finish the job by fixing the uneven nail filing and removing excess polish from sloppy application. Also most of the staff can barely speak English and don't understand when I speak to them or maybe pretend not to understand? Wish I hadn't tipped so well. read more

Nice family run business -- they are a couple, sister and mom. I requested tropical deluxe spa pedicure with gel french tip. David did great with pedicure but the spa part with the lady could have been better. I booked online and requested David for entire service but it was divided. If I knew the time and service was going to be less I would have opted for the less expensive spa option. I did not receive the callus remover but told I did not need it (even though I've always gotten that at other places for years...) and massage was not 20 minute long maybe 10-15 minute slow and too soft or too hard when I asked for pressure. The massage chair is noisy and clangy that it was hard to relax and the water was very hot when the lady initially applied to my leg I could not tolerate burning heat but she corrected the temperature after I yelped in pain. I would make sure temperature is good before applying to someone because I would not want anyone or my daughter to experience that. read more

I called and spoke with David. I asked for a replacement gel manicure, I specifically asked for a removal of the gels I had on and replace them with a new gel set. He gave me a 3pm because they were VERY BUSY. I needed to go to the store first; as I walked past the shop there's 4 people sitting around, one on a cell phone. I come back at my appointment time only to have them tell me that for whatever reason they don't do gels. read more

Service requested: deluxe lavender pedi and gel mani. Super nice ladies and I really enjoyed the actual experience. But never has my gel nails came off days later. By one week they all came off. Despite the terrible experience I had couple years ago, I tried them out again cause they are closest to my house. Service was awesome! Vibe was awesome! Quality was terrible and now one week later I have to get my nails done again. Usually my nails and pedi's last over a month!! Got them done for Mother's Day and they didn't even last to Mother's Day . The first time I went I asked for a specific service and they did the most basic pedi so before she started painting I asked what about the rest of the service and the guy David came over and said "well she almost done so can't do it now." She didn't even paint them yet and all I wanted was the callus removal. Total disappointment. Never again. I'm giving 3 stars cause the ladies were very nice and it was a great pedicure. The staff is sloppy in ripped jeans and T-shirts. It's dirty. Black Chandelier and ceiling fans are filthy. Also they kept turning the lights off and on and off and on. I think they try to save on the electric bill which is why I also didn't have hot water for my feet. I asked very nicely 2x.I also asked for the callus heal removal treatment which she did in the most meager weak way. Didn't get it done at all and it was an extra charge. The lady kept pulling a little brush in and out of her Pocket to touch up my polish at the end which I thought was gross. Although she seemed nice (not sure she didn't speak English or say a word to me) she was too elderly to have the energy for this service. If You charge Professional prices you need to be professional in your appearance, cleanliness, and technique. All 3 fail here. I won't recommend or return. read more

My husband just returned from the "salon" with two bleeding feet - a toe on each foot...one actively bleeding. Apparently, it was David's wife - she was apparently in quite a hurry to finish her day. We have been using this business for some time, and will say that she is the only one on staff we've had any difficulty with. My husband is a farmer and needs his feet done every month. this was the worst service! I booked an appt at 4:30. they called and asked if I could come earlier and I told them no as I was working but would get there asap. I drove all the way from kihei and even called. the owner David said no problem to come in and ok to bring my child. This place is awful. They clearly didn't want my business and I'm glad they didn't get it. Three nail techs removed my gel nails in a span of 30 mins. Neither of the women said hello, they just sat down. The guy was great but he had an appt 15 mins into my manicure and left me with the women. I normally do my nails at a different salon. I wanted to try somewhere closer to home. I called David's nails to make an appointment and got a voicemail that I was unable to leave a message because voicemail was not set up. I decided to stop by. When I got there, there was 2 customers sitting getting their pedicure done & was told that they could take me in. I was brought in immediately. The person that was doing my nails was nice and friendly. While my pedicure was getting done, customers came in & he stopped doing my nails to help them & told the customers to come back. He continued to do my nails. Then another customer came in, he again stopped doing my nails & attended to the customer. He then went to make the water for the customer for a pedicure. He continued for about another 5 minutes. The first customers that came in earlier returned. He got up again to attend to them. When he came back to me he started to wipe my legs & feet with the warm towel and he said "you're all done" That was the fastest pedicure I ever had for $40! I was even done before the first 2 customers that was there before me. It was like I was in and out. Horrible experience. NEVER again will I go there, especially when my pedicure kept getting interrupted. Wasted my time and money for a 20 minutes pedicure. I felt like he wanted to get in as much customers which is fine but the service and time spend with me was horrible. read more

I only go there when I can't make it to town. This time they charged me way too much for my pedicure. Almost double from what I pay in town. There was no polish to remove so it wasn't that hard. Yes, I'm a man who gets pedicures. My mom and I spotted this place while we were shopping at Foodland. We made an appointment the next day and they were able to accommodate us within a few hours. The facility was very clean and the staff was quite friendly. My mom and I were both very impressed with the time and effort spent on cutting and cleaning my nails. I've never had a better clipping. Got a gel FILL that turned out to be $45 which when I looked at their price menu it should of came out to 36$. I got a little "tribal" design which wen I showed him the picture he didn't do it. Basically just drew a bunch of lines on my nail...told me they didn't have time for designs for people. Are yu kidding me? Yu don't have time for yur customers? Okay. when I walked in they said they don't do designs. I only got my nails done there in an act of desperation. The shape looks good, that's about it. They don't have really a lot of gel colors. Not great. I had an appt for 3 but they only had time for 2 of us immediately so I waited an extra 15 to start. That was fine with me but then we all ended together and my toes were just painted when they rushed me out. I told him and he replied with "it will be fine". Nice work:-) we got mani- pedi done and it was perfect. Got there early so we spent more than an hour sitting in the comfy massage chairs when our feet had scrub and amazing foot massage. Been here once before since I live upcountry. They did okay, but I wasn't happy. As for today, One of my nails needed to be repaired, so I Figured I would give them a second chance. I called to ask what time they were open till, I was told 6pm. The sign in the door says so as well. I arrived at 445 and they told me to come back Monday because they were closed. I said "aren't you open until 6, I called". They laughed , for some reason , as they said that "he" (whoever that may be) left. So the second chance turned out to be negative. They apparently do not want to make money and don't give accurate information. Definitely Won't return. I'd rather take the 30 minute drive to a professional place. read more

This is my new go-to nail center since we moved to Kula. Coming from the SF Bay Area, it was a bit of a shock to adjust to fewer salon options and higher prices. This place comes closest to what I was used to in Berkeley; good & clean service, reasonable prices and super-nice people. I just took my DD for a mani-pedi and they were so sweet to her; they even have special kid-sized chairs! Bonus points for stocking an expansive number of OPI shades, a loyalty card program and enough staff to take same-day appointments. Needed my nails filled for a party. Went there with acrylic nails that's been on for 6 weeks from my usual person. . No chips or cracks. Just needed fills. David himself said you got strong nails. As the subject came up as to where I do my nails usually... David's remark was he just started his own business. ( my nail tech) I didn't say a word. I left. Nail's looked nice. I woke up next morning. Noticed a chip on one nail. So I filed it. Just that nail. As day went by nails began to feel rough. Mind you. I paid extra for gel so color wouldn't peel. The next day. Nails started to crack. So I went back. David looked at my nails. His reply.." That's just the tips" I said No its all the nails.. He said forget it I'll just give you your money back.. I've been to David's Happy Nails maybe 4 times over the past four years and every time I go, I vow to never go back because of bad experiences. On two occasions, I've made an appointment before hand, because I only had a certain amount of time to have a manicure done and then they go and take a "walk in" before me and made me wait 30 minutes. Another time I had an appointment, they also took a walk in before me and then didn't have time for me because I had another appointment that I had to get to., and had to leave after waiting 40 minutes. Your best bet is to not make an appointment, just walk in. Because they don't honor appointment times, every time that I have gone, they rush through a sloppy manicure. Most of the staff are rude, no kindness shown, they act like it's a heavy burden to do their job. No smiles or conversation or appreciation shown whatsoever. My recommendation is Not to use this business. I'd recommend going somewhere where they appreciate and honor the client. read more
