Great service, fresh food and the best coleslaw on 43. I was kind of hesitant about ordering the fried shrimp but once I got it, I knew it was just as fresh as just about any other place I've ever had it. Especially 100 miles from the coast.. my companion had the catfish and raved about how fresh and crispy it was not to mention flaky. I would give this 0 stars if possible. I was visiting from out of state this past weekend and saw this was highly reviewed on yelp so I stopped by and ordered catfish, okra, fries, grits and popcorn shrimp. They forgot to give me my tartar sauce. The okra and popcorn shrimp literally had fish bones in them. They must've been stuck in the batter. It was like 7 bones too. And the shrimp had a weird fishy flavor like it hadn't been washed. Absolutely disgusting. The wait was so long they made us wrap back around through the drive thru to get our food. The drive thru employee was rude as well. It couldn't have been a worse experience. read more

I was always told by my mother..."never go grocery shopping when you are hungry!" I heeded her word and went by David's catfish Saturday for lunch, I had a shrimp poboy, it was divine!!! I had the turnip greens and cheese Grits with it, and I had to take a little napp in the truck right there in the parking lot!!! The food was fantastic, the service was first rate, and being a disabled veteran, the young lady gave me a 20% discount on our entire meal!! You rarely find a place like that!! I also took home just as much shrimp as I had on my sandwich, they really piled it on! They get a hard 6 out of 5 from me!!! read more

We rarely pass through the Thomasville, AL area and when we do, we rarely take our meals there. Pickings can be slim. Thanks to our handy dandy Yelp, we went with David's Catfish House...and we could not agree more with all the other high reviews. We had some of the best fried pickles of our lives there (thick slices, the REAL good kind) and then between the five of us in our family we had boiled shrimp, popcorn shrimp, hush puppies, firecracker poboy, grilled cheese, and fried crab claws. The seafood was delicious, high quality, and really well-prepared. The boiled shrimp were a good size and downright beautiful. The claws were also large and breaded perfectly. Every single dish was fantastic. The service was very friendly and efficient. We would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone in the area. The oysters didn't have any taste to them whatsoever, the catfish taste just like the hush puppies and the side order of fried green tomatoes and they weren't tasty at all. I'm a truck driver parked across street at the 66. From the start, service was exceptional. Got the combination plate shrimp and oysters, side of whole fried catfish. The whole fish and shrimp were very tasty, the oysters were awesome. One the side was hush puppies, turnip greens and coleslaw ALL three were good enough to be a meal by their selves. A place worth stopping in for. I was passing through at lunch and stopped in. I had the boom boom shrimp sand which. It was delicious. Spicy but not too spicy. The fries were so crispy and hot I ate them all and that's rare for me. The cheese grits were delicious and the hush puppies I should've ordered extra!! The service was on point the ladies that were up there greeted everyone has they entered with no hesitation and eye contact which I loved!! Allergy/sensitivity alerts: They have prominently posted signs that they use peanut oil for those with peanut allergies. The cole slaw has raw onion in it if you are sensitive to that. read more

HEAR YE, HEAR YE! This place is the truth. I was visiting Thomasville for a graduation and asked where to get a good meal. I heard this place over and over again, so what does this Yelper do? Set the GPS and roll because that's how I do. I ordered to go and sent a companion in to pick it up so I have no idea of what the interior looks like. What I can tell you is that the parking lot was packed to the gills which further confirmed the recommendations. I ordered a cup of gumbo, the fried catfish and shrimp platters with fries and turnip greens. The smell when that bag hit the car was divine. We tore the bag open when we arrived at our destination and inhaled it all. Every last thing we had was amazing. I usually take pictures and realized halfway thought that I forgot. (Ooops!!) My dad and I found this place via YELP. Thomasville is in the middle between Tuscaloosa and Mobile and we meet in Thomasville for dinner sometimes. This place looks kind of like an old barn on the outside but very nice casual inside. We had the bowl of gumbo and all you can eat catfish and fried shrimp. All of it was very good and our server Maylie was very nice and helpful when it came to deciding something to order. Next time I'm back in this area I'll be more than happy to return to David's Catfish! read more

My husband and I stopped by on our way to a high school football game up that way. Went there around 4:00 on a Friday and wasn't crowded at all. A few locals were there. I had the firecracker shrimp, cheese grits, and Cole slaw. The portions were large and very well priced. Cole slaw was delicious as was the rest of my food. I ordered sweet tea and server brought an entire pitcher of it to leave on the table. I also had the key lime pie to go and it was good. I'm delighted to be able to leave a review for David's Catfish House. My family was hosting a "meet and greet" as a part of our family reunion. Benson made it super easy for us to place our order for 60+ around 10am for pickup at 5pm. We had chicken cutlets, hush puppies, fried fish, coleslaw, and cheesy grits. Great establishment. Best food and prices in town. Local favorite is fried catfish or broiled Cajun with cheese grits. Try the hush puppies with a spoonful of the delicious coleslaw on top. If you're too full for banana pudding, get it to go because it's to die for. read more

My wife and I were excited to try this seafood house. We stopped in at lunchtime on Sunday Jan 26th. The waitress took our order, was friendly, but we waited 23 minutes for our food to arrive. When the food did arrive, it was all cold. I didn't mind the wait so much, but at least my food should be hot after the wait. Cold catfish? No thank you. Both my father and myself had the all you can eat catfish filets and popcorn shrimp. The popcorn shrimp ain't your normal popcorn shrimp. They are regular shrimp fried perfectly. The catfish filets are lightly battered golden. My bad y'all I forgot to start with where it started.....the slaw. In the top 2 in my lifetime and they give you a whole bowl of it. My mom has been going here for a long time and highly recommended this restaurant. I tried David's Catfish House for the first time last night and it was excellent!! The service was great - our waitress was friendly, helpful, and regularly came back to make sure we were ok and to see if we needed anything. The food was also excellent. I had fried shrimp and it was fresh and perfectly cooked. I was there for my aunt's birthday party and everyone in the group loved their food.
