Dr. Wong is the nicest most knowledgeable optometrist! I'm so happy I met him, my best friend took me here and told me how awesome he is! So I had my eyes checked by him a few years ago I believe. He did my prescription for my glasses. I should probably wear them. I have to see an ophthalmologist now though so I don't get to go to him for my eyes. But if I ever can or need to I will absolutely go to him again. He is a wonderful and friendly nice person and doctor that really cares. Professional and takes the time to listen and check your eyes to make sure you're getting the best eye care possible! I took my friend here today to help her out so she can get her contacts. She has known him for many years. Every time we come in they are always so nice. The front desk girl is so sweet too thank you guys so much for being good people! If you need an amazing Optometrist go to Dr. Wong he is the best!! Thank you for being so kindhearted and letting my daughter and her best friend run a muck in there. Lol I'm so sorry! I've worn contacts for 35 years and when I found Dr. Wong a few years ago, I was very impressed from the clean and inviting office to his staff being second to none. Once again I visited Dr. David Wong in Walmart for my annual exam and he is absolutely the best Optometrist I've ever went too. He is very thorough and patient and every time I see so great! *update: dr wong has this cool machine that allows him to see the images inside your eyeballs so you no longer need to dilate your eyes and wear those funky sunglasses due to light sensitivity. So if you need to go to work or be functional after your complete eye exam- COME HERE! read more

Dr. David Wong is the bees knees! I went in for a first time contact lens eye exam. I was extremely nervous and quiet frankly acting like a baby. The entire exam was extremely easy and Dr. Wong was extremely nice and informative when he put my contacts in the first time. Michelle (receptionist) was super awesome in showing me how to put in and take out the contacts as well as clean them. Dr. Wong and Michelle send you home with a free pair of contacts to try, contact solution, contact lens case and a coupon for eye drops! I have a follow up exam in about 3 days and I am actually excited to go back. Also Dr. Wong is a huge Harry Potter fan and as a fellow HP enthusiast myself, that is a huge plus! read more

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Wong! I have been going to different optometrist for the longest time but the last couple years, my prescriptions have been so off and all the money spent on glasses and were unusable. Therefore I've decided to go to a new optometrist and Dr. Wong happened to be closest to where I live with great reviews and wow!!! I was able to order frames online and the prescription is right on! I can see so clearly! Also Dr. Wong is extremely friendly and knew exactly how to prescribe for what type and size of frames I wanted. I have found my new optometrist and will never go anywhere else! If I could give him 10 stars, I most definitely would! I have not seen an eye doctor in about 1.5 years. I took a year off from wearing contacts since my eyes kept getting irritated, so irritated to the point of wearing them was so uncomfortable! The last eye exam I had was at a local vision center in the valley in LA (check out previous reviews, I wrote about them), & long story short, they were horrible & they kept giving me trials of contacts, & I never went back, so no new contacts for me. I was always skeptic about going to a walmart vision center (i really really hate walmart). Anyways! I made an appointment on Saturday & earlier in the day I received a text as a reminder (which was AWESOME I might add, usually you get annoying calls). I get there right on the dot & there was only one other person there. I filled out the paperwork & it was different but cool how the Doctor HIMSELF was behind the desk working!!! I never met an eye doctor so acknowledged, and I say that because it's like he knew exactly what my vision is, he didn't take forever to adjust the eye machine, like other eye doctors have in the past with me. I was in & out in 30 minutes!!! I walked out with my prescription, a trial pair of contacts & a contacts lens case, + a coupon for solution. The cost was only $89!!! I gotta say GO HERE, if you are someone who is looking for an eye doctor that is very knowledge in optometry, & very reasonably priced! Bonus: Open Saturdays! read more

Dr. David Wong is by far one of the most friendly and knowledgeable optometrists I've ever had the pleasure of seeing. I first saw him while he was at the Lenscrafters in the City of Industry, He was quick to address any and all concerns I had about my vision and provide me the best service I've ever experienced with an optometrist or doctor of any kind. I was very upset to hear he had left Lenscrafters, but was ecstatic when I found him again at the city of industry Costco! I made an appt with him the minute I discovered his new location. Talking to Dr. Wong, was like talking to one of my friends. He made me feel very comfortable during the examination and made it very easy to ask any him any questions. He seemed very concerned and interested in the health of my eyes and made sure to ask me question regarding how I intended to use my new prescription. It really felt like the the exam was tailored specifically for me, unlike other doctors that make the exam feel monotonous and boring. I was actually laughing and joking around with him by the time I had finished my eye exam! Overall Dr. Wong provided me with the best and most comprehensive eye exam I've had to date. His professionalism is unparalleled, yet he can still be friendly and personal with his patients. He even remembered me by name! Its hard to find service like that anymore! I recently found Dr. Wong again on yelp and found out he had moved to Buena Park to open his own practice. Again.. I wasted no time in making my eye exam appt. I live in west covina and although its now a bit farther than I'm used to going to an eye exam, its by far, well worth the trip. I don't think I could trust my eyes to any other Doctor except Dr. Wong. read more

1/9/19 My first time here and my experience was absolutely the best. Dr Wong is extremely friendly and he is very informative and helpful. I had two contact brands in mind and he actually sent me home with both to try! Added on bonus, he sent me home with all my prescriptions, glasses and both contact brands, two contact samples, some travel size contact solutions and coupons for contact eye drops. Honestly the best service and eye doctor I have been to. Definitely coming back. read more

Dr. Wong is amazing! Not only is he welcoming and knowledgeable but he also goes above and beyond for his patients. He took me in last minute for an eye emergency. He made sure I was in good hands and even helped me save money on my prescription. It's hard to find a doctor that really cares for his patients and he is definitely genuine. I've walked past his office many times and never realized there was an office inside of here. I'm extremely grateful I found him when I needed him and will definitely be coming back. I have been with Dr. Wong since 2007. He is the best eye doctor I have eve had and I have had glasses/contacts since 1974. It gets no better. Yes he's courteous. Yes he's friendly. Yes he's informative. The most important reason I travel from Pasadena, CA to Buena Park to see him is because I have never seen better and more clearly. He is a gem. I referred my blind as a bat brother. We both love Dr. Wong. Can't go wrong with Wong (Better Call Saul). read more

Received an eye exam from Dr. Wong. He was so very informative and helpful. I have received many eye exams in the past. This is the first instance where I was informed about the strength of my prescription. Turns out my vision isn't as poor as I originally thought. I have a sensitivity to the blurry objects I am accustomed to seeing, tricking myself to believe I have very poor sight. Turns out my prescription isn't very strong. Surprising to know. Do not come to this location. If i could give this place 0 stars i would. Came to this location for a walk in eye exam and contacts. After filling out paperwork and signing in the receptionist said she would give me a call in about 40 minutes so i left to walk around the store. After an hour I did not receive a call and after an hour and 1/2 i STILL did not receive a call and headed back. When I returned, the same receptionist had the worst attitude and was extremely rude and condescending instead of trying to make it right. Will not return. read more

Dr.Wong is AMAZING!!! Seriously he's great. He's really caring and he pays attention to you and how you feel. He's a great person to talk to about whatever eye question you have. Super informative and great sense of humor. Around the office there's these really cool art pieces like the Mayan style Mario and bowser. And his receptionist is soo helpful and nice. Very chill not like other places that they just acknowledge you when they feel like it. Overall I love this office wouldn't trade it for the world. read more

Dr. Wong took such great care of me, I came in with an eye irritation, sensitivity to light. He explained throughly what was happening, he provided me with the medication I needed. As an advanced practice provider myself, I know what it takes to recommend another provider. I recommend Dr. Wong! Don't let his location fool you. His office is clean and productive, his office staff are also very helpful and courteous. The ease of making an appointment, wow. He himself is very knowledgable. I went to see dr wong for a new prescription. The receptionist had called out sick that day, so he was working the front desk and seeing patients that day. He was keeping his cool, even with walk in patients coming to ask questions. He was very knowledgeable and patients with me saying " can I see #1 again" I would absolutely recommend him. I never have had eye issues, recently I had a severe light sensitivity issue. Did some research found Dr. Wong. Went in and he was very thorough, gave me all the tests and determined my Iris in my eye was inflamed. Gave me some special eye drops and 6 days later I could see again. I would recommend Dr. Wong to everyone, he is very intelligent and caring. He even gave me a follow up appointment to make sure my eyes were healed. read more

Dr. Wong is both friendly and expert at what he knows. He determined a serious problem with my right eye which was obstructing my vision. It has taken my opthamologist from Atlantis Eye care test after test and still they cannot take care of my problem. Dr. Wong knew exactly what needed to be done and wrote a informational report for my opthamologist. I trust Dr. Wong and think very highly of him. read more

Meet the Manager: David W.

Dr. David Wong completed his pre-med/Biochemistry degree at UCLA and continued his optometric education locally at the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton. Before the completion of his optometric degree, Dr. Wong worked closely with the US Navy, the Center of the Partially Sighted, and the NVISION Lasik Center of Newport Beach. Dr. Wong has been in practicing since 2006. He has worked in a plethora offices and regions. Dr. Wong started his career as an associate optometrist in a private office in Brentwood/Beverly Hills. He moved on to become a managing optometrist for 3 different EyExams of California (LensCrafters) in southern California. Today he joins us in Buena Park as the lead optometrist at the FirstSight Optometry office inside BPD Walmart. Dr. Wong is fluent in Cantonese and is able to perform eye examinations in Spanish as well. On his spare time, he likes to cook and do various outdoor activities, such as snowboarding, fishing, and rock climbing.

I used to make the drive here even after I moved because I've been going to Dr Yoon for almost two decades now & love her. However, along with recent incidents due to some change in management, my trip today was really appalling. Let's start with January when I scheduled my annual exam, I came in & noticed the place looked really disorganized & saw some new employees. This man asked me how he could help & I let him know that I had an appointment. He proceeded to tell me that I was early for my annual exam since I was just here 6 months ago in May. I had never had an issue of booking my appointments before the one year mark & was wondering why I wasn't given a phone call then before I came in if this was a problem. I let him that it's been 8 months technically & if it was a problem and he proceeded to say no. Then along with looking disorganized & the busiest I've ever seen them, I noticed a different optometrist then Dr Yoon & asked if she retired & was told she had semi-retired & only came twice a week so I asked to reschedule based off of everything. I saw another lady write in a calendar book my new appointment for March. I showed up for my appointment in March & made the drive again to get told they don't see my appointment. Don't know how that happened because I saw her write it in their calendar on that day the time slot I was coming. Dr Yoon graciously still saw me & along with contacts I ordered some new glasses. Typically my glasses & contacts come within 2 weeks.. max 3 & I usually get a call when it's ready & I get told if only one is ready & given the option to wait til both are ready. They have this new generic texting system where it said my glasses and/or contacts are ready & so my bad.. I get it says "or" but you would think that if only one was ready, they'd let me know. So I leave work early today to go pick them up, just to be told only my glasses are ready. The same guy from the January visit shows me my glasses... & I'm not quite sure they're mine because they look different from what I remember. These today had this distinct mark at the ends that are pretty noticeable that I don't recall seeing the last time. When I mention me not being sure this is what I ordered, he proceeds to do this condescending laugh saying it is what I ordered. Not sure what was so funny but I didn't say anything the first time but as we are still discussing this manner, he proceeded to laugh again & so I had to ask "what is so funny about this situation right now?" That's when a younger girl who worked there stepped in & was very professional, sweet & tried to make the matter right. While she was working with me, he tried to jump into our convo & to be frank, I told him I didn't want to talk to him. Normally in a situation like this, you would think as an employee, he would give me my space but he proceeded to say to me "I don't want to talk to you either". I wish I was making this up. Then when I proceeded to make a comment about his laugh being unnecessary in this situation, he said "should I have cried then?" in Korean. That comment is not only incredibly inappropriate & rude but it does acknowledge that he indeed was laughing. I was in shock that this is how a business talks to their customers & so I had to say my piece to him about how he was talking to me. I ended up talking to the new manager because Dr Yoon wasn't there but it seems like these two guys are friends because he didn't even care to hear everything about what happened & was abrupt with basically saying "there's no way we could have gotten your glasses mixed up. You could have just read his laugh the wrong way. How do you want us to fix the glasses? Do you want to just replace them" along with the most half-*ssed apology. I even told him that last time I came I heard another lady say that her glass order was wrong and he said it could be her not remembering due to her old age & it was me not remembering maybe due to it being almost a month ago. Like holy cow...so long story long.. i knew there was no point in getting into it with this guy about my feedback expecting anything to change. I ended up just talking to the younger girl again & my hands were even shaking when I was writing my address down because I was in such shock & had so much anger over what happened. When I followed up and calmly voiced my frustration, I was met with excuses--short staffing, dissatisfaction with their new phone system, and little accountability. I understand that times are tough, but I'm exhausted by the excuses. Hopefully, the owner takes their staff's concerns seriously before frustrated patients feel compelled to share their experiences on Yelp.
