I have never seen such a rude office receptionist like this one. She made so many mistakes yet when you complainted she took it personal. She talked to patient very condescending and very highness attitude. She must be the dr wife or relative to be able to treat patient like that. I ignored many other review because it is close to home but really have to admit this must be the rudest and unprofessional place I ever come across. Dr is not God. If you treat client like this, you are making money, not you are helping them. So you have no reason to be such a rude person. Updated. This is a long overdue review for Dr. Son and his team at Biodental Solutions in Irvine: I became a patient of Dr. Son in May 2021 after a referral from my naturopathic doctor. I was experiencing pain in the front area of my lower jaw and after reviewing my 3d x-ray, it turnt out that I had a severe infection in my jaw bone around two teeth that were previously treated with root canals. After the first shock of realizing I need something done, I was very glad to find myself in the caring hands of Dr. Son, who was able to guide me through all my different options and I eventually decided to get two teeth removed and two zirconia implants placed. The whole process from the first surgery until (removal of teeth) to the final placement of the crowns took almost 10months. But I'm so glad I did it. Dr. Son is a wonderful dentist. I always felt like he had my best interest in mind, which is also why he split the surgery in two appointments (he wasn't able to place the implants right away, due to significant bone loss in my jaw). The procedures were also almost completely free of pain and discomfort. I would feel an occasional pinching here and there, but the moment it happened Dr. Son immediately asked for my well being and numbed the teeth even more. My final crowns were placed about 3 weeks ago. I actually had to come several times for this appointment, because the color of the crowns wasn't perfect at first. But again, Dr. Son did not want to place something in my mouth that he was not 100% confident in. Again, I can tell he really cared and wanted to make sure I'm happy with the result! I love this dentist. He is kind, smart, one of the few dentists that is capable of doing what he does. He is a real biological dentist unlike other dentists out there who claim they are biological dentists but are not. I will post another review with 5 stars specifically for Dr. Son when Yelp lets me add another post. It won't let me do it now. This 1 star review is specifically centered at the abuse of power wielded by Terry his receptionist. She is abusive to patients and then acts like a victim by pointing the blame on patient when patients call her out on her bad behavior. Terry is getting away doing this to patients without any consequences and this is why she is so comfortable acting this way. Other patients are likely to intimidated for fear of loosing their relationship with Dr. Son so they let her treat them poorly. Here's 2 examples: #1 - A few weeks ago I came in for a cleaning. I walked in and said I had some questions for the doctor about some issues I am having will Dr. Son take a look after the cleaning. With an attitude she told me no he was too busy with other clients. I said that's ok. (In my mind I understand it makes sense, he is busy with another patient) So I said to her is it ok if I email questions. She just looked at me like what I was saying was annoying her. She didn't really acknowledge my need to get help, she cooly said sure. After my dental cleaning I go to pay. I ask her is it ok to just charge it to my credit card on file. She looks at me and with an attitude says no. I said are you able to keep my credit card on file? She didn't answer that question but said you will have to run your card on the machine. I said ok. At that point I feel like I am not appreciated at all as a client who has spent a lot of money there and was planning on spending more. So I stick my card in and with an attitude... again... she tells me to put the card in, cuz it didn't work. So I put it in and she says is it all the way in I say yes. She pushes it with her own hand and sees it is in correctly then annoyingly pulls it out because she has to manually process it. I am just standing there thinking this is a horrible experience I can't wait to get out of this office this lady has a major attitude and she is really unpleasant to be around. I was so happy to leave. I find out later on the reason it wasn't working is because the previous patient hadn't finished making their payment and my card ended up being charged for their appointment. That is why my card wasn't working. Chances are high that the previous patient was also probably being treated equally as bad and couldn't wait to leave either so their payment wasn't fully processed. #2 - Today 12/5/22 I am in a lot of pain. I have a crown that was done in 2004 by a dentist in Norther California that has a bite issue. I can feel when I bite down on it is hitting really hard in the wrong spot and causing pain. All I need is a simple bite adjustment on it. I tell her it's an emergency she says he can see me Wed morning, there is no time Tue. I said let me check with a dentist in LA I will call you back. The dentist in LA can see me Tue but I call Terry back to see what time Dr. Son can see me Wed because LA is a 2hr drive. She asks did Dr. Son do the crown? I said no it was done in 2004 by a doc in NorCal. She asks what is going on with it. I tell her it's a crown that Dr. Son said should be replaced because my gum has receded and the crown needs to be longer to protect the root. Also I will be getting a new bridge and the crown wont match the new bridge so that was another reason he recommended I replace it. Terry says even if you come Wed he probably won't do an adjustment on it because he already diagnosed that you need a new crown. At this point I said "I am in pain and you are telling me he isn't going to help me resolve the pain?" The way she is talking to me is not how you talk to a patient, especially a patient in pain. I said you know what Terry I have to say that dealing with you has been a very bad experience this time and the last time I saw you. You make me feel like you don't want me there as a patient. She said why would you say that? I explained to her how she treated me when I came for the dental cleaning a few weeks earlier. She said "The way you felt was made up in your head" Then she said "I am offended that you are accusing me of this." At that point I cut her off and spoke louder because she should NOT be talking to patients this way. Then she cut me off and started to play victim by saying on the phone I will not tolerate being yelled at, LOL. This lady is a 100% a narcissist! I told her I am not coming back and I hung up. It would be a good idea to have a new phone system installed that allows the office to record phone calls so that the office can review how Terry talks to patients. That way she can be trained properly on how to treat people. read more

Dr. Son is the best of the best. If you have high standards for your health, then you've come to the right place. As a practitioner, he's very kind and gifted. Expect meticulous work with a caring attitude. Before I chose Dr. Son, I investigated 5 other dentists, researched their practice and sought first-hand feedback from prior patients. Only after extensive research did I decide this was the office for me. I then drove from out of state to get my care... and I'm extremely happy with the results. They use ozone during procedures and ozonated water for recovery (similar feeling to hydrogen peroxide in the mouth). He has a WaterLase and Piezo instruments and uses state of the art CBCT scans to guide his work, looking at the images as he performs surgery, to make sure he's in the exact right spot. Having trained with Klinghardt in Switzerland, I knew I was getting the type of care that's on the leading edge of dentistry. Dr. Son performed crucial surgery in my jawbone that has been a true game changer for me and I'm so glad I chose him. For 4 months, I have been struggling with an unknown facial infection. I couldn't open my mouth(max len. 2in) and my jaw on the right side swelled to the size of large strawberry. Since then, I've been to 6 other doctors and none of them could explain my condition nor prescribe me treatment. I've been on antibiotics and tried many options, but none of them were solutions. Just three weeks ago, my dad did some searching and we found Dr. Son's office after getting a CT scan. I was diagnosed with actinomycosis. We heard about how the doctor uses ozone to treat various conditions, so we thought we'd give it a try. Amazingly enough, after just the second day, my swelling went down and I could open my mouth a little bit more. After the fourth day I could open it up an inch and a half! For the record I was not just asking about fees (which yes she was very reluctant to share), but also just general information about products they use, what is included in an annual check up, etc. Information that every other office I called was very happy to provide. The receptionist was very aggressive with me, very short, kept cutting me off, and ultimately told me that she can't spend time answering my questions because she has a patient she needs to deal with. No problem, I will not be making the switch as I have no interest in dealing with such a rude, unwelcoming, and uninformational business. I have had a great experience under Dr. Son's care. I went to him with the purpose of having my amalgams and any other offending metal from my mouth. First let me begin by saying that four teeth I thought I would need pulled by now are still in my mouth. It has taken incredibly disciplined work on my part with various holistic remineralizing and pH balancing solutions (the best of which have come from Uncle Harry's mouth care products), and one amazing biological dentist I was fortunate enough to find online. I'm not out of the woods yet and there may be some more paranoid days ahead, but today is the first day that those teeth feel like they might really stay in my mouth for the long haul. I know you can't promise your clients that all will be well, but I believe you do everything in your power to make sure that happens. So I'm just taking it one day at a time, and with your help, more ozone treatments, Dr. Tennant's BioModualtor, online sound healing (a wonderful new world that everyone should know about!), a lot of determination on my part and staying positive and banishing fear/worry, I think I might have a good chance of overcoming this latest major hiccup in my health. It has been about nine weeks since you did that intense work on my front bottom four teeth - over three hours in the chair with relatively no pain!!! During my first visit you looked at my x-rays, and without saying anything about pulling those teeth (which were very decayed on the inside but showed no signs of decay on the outside or even hurt), informed me of what your conservative approach would be. I was so relieved I almost cried. You were going to carefully drill out the decay and fill the teeth, and though you wouldn't give me any guarantees (which of course I didn't expect) you did seem confident that this approach would work. And that gave me confidence, in the same way positive energy begets positive energy. There was just one tooth that was in question, but you explained that you would try to restore all of them, without focusing on the word "save," of which I'm not a big fan. I'm a writer. Language is very important to me. I work hard to keep my words and thoughts completely positive, as I believe this is 95+% of healing. I research energy medicine nearly every day, and work with a number of energy healers. I myself am a channeler, meaning I can contact departed spirits and help their loved ones who remain here cope with their loss, so I'm a pretty good judge of someone's energy. I could tell immediately that you were a true healer, and that's a rarity in dentistry. You did not focus on what was "wrong" with my teeth, but was right and what was possible. You focused on the causes of teeth and gum issues, not on the symptoms, and I could tell you wanted to help me understand and treat those causes. I have much more to say, and will do so later as I learn more about how to keep my mouth healthy. I was referred to Dr. David Son from an acquaintance of my mother's about 2 years ago. Just like many of you out there, I am not religious about tending to my dental care... UNTIL I met and have been treated by Dr. Son and his staff. Needless to say I had been in need of a couple of thousand dollars' worth of treatment upon my first visit. I am sure you are shocked just as I was at first, but he took the time to review the x-rays and other camera gadgets he has to show color pictures of each tooth that had a problem. He took the time and described the best and worst case scenarios to me. It finally hit me after our consult that I needed to desperately start a good cleaning regimen and that I couldn't wait any longer to get my teeth cleaned out, crowned and cavities filled. My previous dentist was rough, impatient with me and felt like I was being upsold and taken advantage of. With Dr. Son; I didn't feel that way. I was much more comfortable with his technique of the work that he described had to be done. With the help of the front office staff they handled my insurance billing and offered financing options to make it all happen at once. I had about 2 lengthy (four hour) visits to tackle each side of my mouth. Along with a few follow up visits for crown fittings etc. He and his staff make it as comfortable as they can for these long visits. Blankets, neck pillows and my personal favorite are these awesome sunglasses that have tiny movie projection screens things on them. Nothing better than watching Pretty Woman when getting 3 crowns put on! Totally helps you to relax and take your mind off of what's really happening. Nice touch! I can honestly tell you that he has gentle hands, makes sure you're completely numb before drilling, talks with you and explains what he's doing throughout the procedure and he does have a good sense of humor. I haven't experienced any unbearable pain after a procedure; but he offers his after hour contact info in case something was to happen. Since my first few major repair visits, I have gone back for routine cleanings and x-rays, nothing else has popped up since and no repair has been needed on the work that he has done! To me that's quite a testimony to his expertise and follow up care that I do at home now. Bottom line: I would recommend anyone and everyone to Dr. Son. He isn't cheap; but he is worth every penny! Before going to Dr. Son's office for the first time in January of 2014, I hadn't seen a dentist in many years. I was one of those people that was scared, partly because I didn't have the greatest experiences in the past at dental offices, and partly because I knew I needed so much work that I felt a sense of embarrassment about my teeth. I finally relented and agreed to go to Dr. Son's office (at a friend's recommendation) after I had suffered through a constant toothache for about a week. The first thing I noticed were the warm smiles of Janice and Terry at the front desk, and a constant theme of each of my dental visits so far has been that Dr. Son and his staff know how to deal with people. They look you in the eye when speaking to you, and it is not just mundane, obligatory conversation. A very important part of any enterprise that deals with the public is customer service, and Dr. Son and his staff understand this perfectly. The next thing I noticed was that the office is immaculate. Everything is pristine, from the cleanliness of the office to the state-of-the-art nature of the dental equipment. Then I had X-rays taken and, of course, I knew that the state of my teeth was less than good. Dr. Son spoke with me for quite a while about what was happening, what needed to be done going forward, and, yes, that my issues are correctable. He was honest and frank, yet it never came across as a lecture. You expect that your dentist is going to be super-knowledgeable, but it really makes you feel far more at ease when he or she is also good at people skills. It turns out that I needed a root canal on my first visit, and my worries about pain came to the forefront. I am here to tell you that I didn't feel a single moment of pain during the root canal, nor have I felt any pain whatsoever during any of my visits so far. This is an advanced dental practice, and they don't even need to inject you with a needle anymore; they use a small laser-like tool to numb the affected area. For anybody worried about experiencing pain from dental work, I can't stress enough how painless everything has been. I still have a long way to go, but I couldn't be more pleased with my experience at Dr. Son's office so far. After just a few weeks since my initial visit, my smile looks much better thanks to Dr. Son's work, and, even more importantly, I actually feel better, both physically and mentally.
