I am a first-time homebuyer and worked with David Shotwell at Compass to buy a condo earlier this year. I highly recommend David and his team for anyone looking in the DC metro area.
The entire time, I felt like I was completely supported by someone with an endless supply of knowledge and patience - the perfect combination for a first-time homebuyer.
Not only is David excellent at his job, he brings a top-notch team with him. Danielle Baird, senior transaction manager at Compass, was constantly on top of all the details involved in getting the deal done; Gregg Kingsbury, sales manager for Caliber Home Loans, was extremely responsive, transparent, and encouraging; Caliber mortgage consultant Michael McClellan was equally responsive and patient; and the team at KVS Title were excellent.
In retrospect, I realize that buying a home is about so much more than property. For me, it was a really important opportunity to take stock of my life, goals, and what is really important to me. I had to decide if I was going to play it safe or take a leap of faith. I had to re-think deal-breakers and listen to my gut. I was able to do all of that because of David's knowledge of the market, his patience with my many questions every step along the way, and his wide network of colleagues with whom he has developed strong working relationships (btw, one of the most helpful parts of my decision-making process was being able to talk with someone David knew who lived at a building I was considering).
Put simply, David and his team created a supportive environment for me to grapple with questions about my dreams for the next chapter of my life. I wouldn't have bought the place I did if I had a different team in place, and I feel confident that I made the right decision. read more
