While other homes in our neighborhood sat for months on the market, she staged our home beautifully, priced it right, and had it under contract within the first weekend for an offer above asking price! A home in the neighborhood we wanted went on sale while we were out of town. We called Elle and she was in the property the very next day (a holiday!) to Facetime us. She got as much information from the sellers' agent about their priorities as possible. She then helped us craft a competitive and wise offer quickly, beating out another offer. Elle is not only an expert regarding real estate, but doubles as your interior designer and comes with an unsurpassed professional network for home repairs, home renovations, lenders, and anyone you may need in the process. There were several external factors that made our process particularly complicated, but Elle never seemed to get flustered and always figured out the next steps. After 12 weeks on the market with WFP, and in a highly desirable neighborhood in Northwest DC, there have been no offers on my house. Buyers have given feedback that was never passed on to me. Their agents have been negligent and unprofessional. I asked WFP to release me from their listing agreement and they flat out refused, saying they "do not release" clients from any agreements. I am stuck with them for the next three months and I expect nothing will change. read more

Having listed my $3 million+ house for sale recently, when the listing agent was so nice and professional BEFORE I listed with them. Then, I rarely ever heard from the agent again. Very unprofessional. They only want your listing and then wait until the other hard working agents from other real estate companies sell your home. I would never list with this firm again. read more

I've been extremely disappointed with our property transaction involving Chuck Holzwarth of Washington Fine Properties so here's my negative real estate agent review and feedback. As the seller's agents, they neglected to share a pest report documenting damage to the house's support structure with us, the buyers, until the day before closing (they had it in hand for a month prior). Even then, the last few pages of the report were mysteriously "missing." Chuck attempted to argue that the seller wasn't responsible for certain structural repairs. Furthermore, Chuck Holzwarth appears to be trying to back out of our agreement - we had agreed repairs would be made, paid for, in part, from agent commissions. Now, a month later after the repair has been made but not yet paid for, he's backing out of his word. Hey, Chuck, how about share the damage report with us when you received it, so we would have had time to resolve this in a better way? We agreed that the repair would be the seller's (and both agents!) responsibility so that closing could proceed. This is just one of many problems we've had dealing with the Chuck Holzwarth team. read more

This is a first rate brokerage house. WFP has a top commitment to their clients, focus on due diligence, and has vast expertise in the luxury real estate market of the DC metro. Bruce D's experience sounds dreadful, but unrealistically rare. WFP has earned its place on the Wall Street Journal's list of the nation's top producers in residential real estate the last 3 years in a row by being the best. In addition, they are working for a commission, and thus have a heavy incentive to take a proactive role in selling a property, limiting the possibility of any negligence. I know most of the brokers there, and they are all good people - unlike many of the real estate agents out there. read more

I honestly don't even know where to start about Nelson Marban...best decision I could have possibly made was to work with this man and his amazing team to sell my house, and to buy my new one. His years of experience led to a level of expertise that gave me the utmost confidence in every bit of the process. I never hesitated to say to him, "whatever you think is best! I trust you" and he never let me down. I followed all of his advice, from repairs that I should make before selling to maximize profit, and maybe even more importantly, advice to NOT do a bunch of things that would have cost me SO much money & for no real return. He helped me to understand everything we were doing every step of the way, as I needed a lot of things explained to me in lay terms. Bottom line- I know I got the most for my house that I possibly could have due to all of his advice and actions, and I wound up in an amazing house in a great place, and I just couldn't be happier about all of it!!!! We contacted Nathan Guggenheim, but since he was a listing agent, he recommended to us MARY GROVER EHRGOOD. She called us and started questioning all about money. We had pre-approval for $1.7M. She told us she never heard about our lender, and we better give her pre-approval from big famous bank! She wanted to see our bank statements for down payment money even without signing agency agreement with us! At some point she told us that she is "INTERVIEWING US TO SEE IF SHE CAN REPRESENT US"! WHAT!!! Who she thinks she is? Queen of Washington DC? Just because she born here, and we are poor people from out of state who is trying to buy $2M house! We felt totally intimidated by this unprofessional approach from her side! Looks like the house we wanted to buy was set up deal for another client! Our cap was just 15k lower from winning offer! She tried to do all possible, so we don't give an offer on this house! Frustrated! Never ever use this snobby agency! read more

I just re-looked at the listing and am still impressed with how pretty the photographs are and how nicely he marketed my home. John really earned his 5 stars helping my buy my dream home from a very challenging seller. We made two bids over several months and there was some nail-biting negotiating. His experience and instinct led him to strongly recommend a roof inspector in addition to the home inspector. It turned out the 7-year old roof had been installed wrong and had to be replaced. John negotiated so the seller paid, despite the type of contract I had with only a catastrophic inspection. I'd have had a leaking roof and been out many thousands of dollars had John not recommended a specialist. John is a pro, and a really nice person. I'd recommend him to anyone. read more

I just bought a house in Georgetown last week. Liz D'Angio from the Georgetown office of Washington Fine Properties was my agent and she was fantastic! Earlier in the year, I was just walking around Georgetown one day when I decided to enter their office and asked to speak to an agent about looking at some houses to possibly buy something in the future. That was the beginning of a wonderful relationship. Liz was patient, smart, efficient, and professional. I never felt like she was trying to "sell" me on a property, but truly cared about finding the perfect place for me and my family. She narrowed down the search, but still showed me many houses that I might be interested in over the course of several visits into Georgetown. And then when I decided to pull the trigger on an offer months later, she worked her tail off to get the deal done in a timely fashion. Unfortunately my experience with this firm has not been good. I discovered they misrepresented a place they were selling, and they took no action to remedy the situation (though they at least admitted they did sloppy work and messed up). So now I am stuck with possibly over paying for a place or getting out of the contract but bearing the costs of the appraisal, inspection, etc. I just don't like dealing with peopel who screw up, but further don't remedy their mistakes. read more

Over the last 11 years, I have bought and sold 3 houses due to work relocation and life changes. For 3 sales and 2 purchases, I have been extremely fortunate to work with John Stacey of Washington Fine Properties. John's approach is to go above and beyond at every opportunity. I have only seen this improve as he made the move to WFP a few years ago. My most recent transaction was a sale in July 2013. Due to a divorce, I made a sudden decision to sell. John was at the ready immediately, and got everything ready to go to get the property on the market in just over a week. John's attention to detail is impressive, and he has been on the money every time when it came to prepping a house for sale. His recommendations (how to arrange furniture, what to straighten up or de-clutter, simple fixes to make) aren't expensive, but I think they have made a huge difference. At the time, there were two other properties in my community that were sitting on the market for a number of weeks. My sale brought in 4 offers over one weekend. John's advice, marketing, and management of the process resulted in a selling price that, while starting slightly lower, eclipsed 1 of the other houses on the market in my community. Ratified contract in 5 days. Awesome! I have also worked with John on the purchasing side. I met John through a friend's referral. I had cycled through 2 sub-par agents prior. I was shocked the first time I went on property showings with John in 2005. He didn't just have a list of properties that anyone could download off the internet. John had actually previewed most of the properties before my appointment. This meant that starting with the very first house, he was able to describe the pros and cons as compared to future houses we were going to see and focus our effort down to what I really wanted. We didn't come away with any winners that day. In fact John and I spent almost a year trying to find the right property. I can imagine other agents might have dumped me by then. I have referred John to 3 other friends. Each of them has walked away impressed. Two of them have made multiple transactions. Each time they go back to John. Ultimately, I consider it rare in the real estate business to truly see someone as client focused. I have bought and sold homes in up and down markets. In each case, not only do I feel I have done the best in terms of price, but I also have seen first hand what happens when a great agent (John) works on a sale where the other agent is not client focused. Whether purchase or sale, it is not just about price but also contractual terms, payment/financing terms, and inspections. Having someone really work through the entire life cycle of a sale has taken much of the stress out of the process. I am extremely appreciative of John's effort. While I believe there are others like him in WFP, I don't think I will ever find out :) read more

While WFP touts themselves as "the" DC Real Estate agency for those in the know----avoid them at all costs! The agents are masters of bait and switch: they will woo you aggressively, promising to sell your property at top dollar, recommending just a few little "touches" to improve it; they practically chase you with the pen and contract. Seller beware: those little "touches" can add up to 6 six figures! When you've almost agreed to sign, they say "oh by the way, we want to ask $---- for your property" ( far lower than market price and far lower than they originally told you). The agents sneer at your decor, and once they have you in their clutches, insist that you move out while the house is on the market, never mind that you might have children or don't have another property to go to. What are these people hiding? Remember YOU hire a real estate agent, they do not own you. WFP wants to own you for the lowest price possible. Choose Sotheby or McErnearny instead. read more
