After having negative experiences with 2 different buyers agents, I was referred to Katri by a friend. My overall experience with almost all real estate agents is that their main priority is getting transactions closed and earning a commission. Katri is one of the few exceptions where her priority is putting her client's interests at the forefront. We had several disappointments with losing out on houses. Our disappointments were also hers and it showed. We really appreciated it. What also sets Katri apart is her skills as a negotiator and strategist. In a market where one house can have 28 offers (a situation we had) it is incredibly important to have an agent that knows every aspect of a transaction and how to construct an attractive offer. Money is often not the only compelling aspect of an offer. Katri knows how to read situations and what aspects of an offer may be more important than others. I honestly believe that her strategy is the sole reason we got the house that we did. I don't it would have happened without her. Katri is also very conscious of her client's budgets. Where other agents may encourage (or push) their clients to stretch themselves financially, Katri is more of a voice of reason. I researched 10 realtors for an out-of-state relocation to Washington, D.C., interviewed three of them, and chose Katri. I am so glad I did. Katri possesses an unusual combination of being super chill but also incredibly competent. We worked with Katri to sell our townhouse and then purchase a single family home. While we were in the selling phase, she was very patient with our timeline (which changed a few times) and never pressured us to do anything until we were ready. We didn't sell during 'prime selling months' but she still advised us on strategy as to when the best time to list was during the off months. She gave us numerous tips for preparing/cleaning/staging our house and she arranged for listing photos of our home that turned out beautiful! Katri provided detailed comps when we were deciding on the list price and we took a chance (based on her recommendations) and listed a bit higher than some other homes in our neighborhood. After listing and our first open house, we got multiple offers and accepted one just a few days after listing. Katri guided us through what to expect leading up to closing on the sale of our house. From the time we listed, accepted an offer, and closed -- the entire sale was done in less than a month! We also ended up selling for above asking price! Simultaneously we were looking for a home to purchase and since our townhouse sold so fast, we were fortunate to be able to stay with family so we didn't have to rush to buy a new house. Katri would routinely send us listings to review and was literally always available to take us out to see houses. We visited so many houses that we decided not to pursue -- she never viewed it as bothersome or a waste of time, for her - every home we visited was an opportunity to learn more about what we were looking for. Katri is really knowledgeable about the market and also has a lot of ideas on ways to improve homes -- so every time we met with her, we learned more as well. When we finally found the home that we ended up buying -- there were already two offers on it. By that time we had looked at SO many houses and really wanted our house, to the point where I was pretty anxious. Katri was on it right away - literally within minutes of us seeing the house, she was working with the listing agent to get a better sense on how we could make a competitive offer. Since we really wanted the house, we were willing to offer higher than she recommended. Katri really had our best interest at heart and talked us out of it (even though she would've made more money if we put in a higher offer). She felt confident that our offer (the one she initially recommended) would be appealing and competitive and there was no reason to spend more than necessary. She was obviously right as the seller accepted our offer. Once our offer was accepted we worked with Katri on all the next steps, inspections, insurance, etc. She also made a few special trips to meet us at the house so we could take measurements before the closing date (keep in mind, this was all over the holiday season!). Upon closing, the seller still hadn't completed all the items identified during our inspection but we didn't want to prolong closing - so we gave them an additional two weeks after closing to finish. During this time Katri advised us to withhold money from them in escrow until the work was finished. While they did return and complete much of the work, their standard of complete/quality of work was a little different than ours. By that time I said it was really okay and to let it go, we could finish the rest on our own and asked Katri to release the money back to them from escrow. Katri is a really fierce advocate for her clients and even after settlement was still working on our behalf! Because some of the work wasn't completed or completed at a high enough standard -- she worked to have half the money we withheld in escrow returned to us in a check for the inconvenience. It is clear that Katri really cares about her clients and really cares about getting them the best deal possible (both when selling and when buying -- even after you think it's all said and done). She goes above and beyond what is expected of her and she is not someone that is going to take advantage or make suggestions to get a few more dollars in her pocket, she's very much the opposite! Her focus was always on getting us exactly what we wanted for the least amount of money possible! Katri is very trustworthy, personable, and relatable; she's really more like a friend as she's so easy to talk with and work with! She works hard to get to know you and what you like and what you don't like.
