The good reviews must be from people who only came in for a routine eye exam and to get glasses. If you have other health problems related to your eyes, I have no confidence that the Dr. can help you. He's really nice and friendly on the surface but seems to be the type of person who believes everything will resolve on its own. I came in desperate because my eye had been really red, swollen, and itchy from allergies for an entire month. I also had a rash around the eye that wouldn't go away for weeks and kept flaring up every time allergies got worse. By the time of the appointment, the redness and swelling had improved a lot, but the Dr. still didn't believe me that the allergies had been a real problem. There was a whole lot of passive-aggressive blame the patient type of talk from both doc and the receptionist, saying that if I just left it alone, the rash would go away and my eye wouldn't itch. He low-key talked down to me for taking allergy and asthma meds year-round, saying they're not good for people and we should all just go off meds and "sleep, eat well, and exercise" to be healthier. When I asked what people should do if they have real health problems and need to take medicines to keep them under control, he downplayed it by saying no one "needs" to, they could just deal with the symptoms instead and it would be healthier. He didn't want to recommend either prescription drops or a steroid cream for the rash. When asked what to do when the eye is flaring up so bad that it's painful, he flippantly said, "Read a book and you'll forget it's itching." (I felt this was super insulting as I am an avid lifelong reader and books are my life; being treated like a stupid young girl who overthinks her health problems and just needs some wholesome distraction wasn't exactly helpful.) The receptionist also acted strange, first trying to dissuade me from making an appointment when I called in about my issue, and then grousing that the appointment was supposed to be a regular routine eye exam. She asked with a tone of disapproval if I didn't want to get fitted for glasses today (recently got a routine exam and glasses at another place), even though I'd already explained multiple times why I was coming in. This is an eye doctor. Where is a person supposed to go if their eye has been red and swollen without relief, or--god forbid--they fear they have an infection and want to make sure that nothing's wrong? I couldn't believe this is how I was treated and I don't understand why, having never met me before, they both felt the need to be so rude and condescending as if on purpose. Is it really necessary to condescend to patients this much? Edit: Not sure why address is showing up as San Francisco. This office visit was in Elk Grove, California. read more
