If I could give 0 stars, I would! I tried to set up an appointment with this clinic which was a referral, I asked for a Spanish speaker and he said he would but then instantly hung up on me! I called again and told him that he abruptly hung up on me and he got offended saying that he did not hang up on me when he did! He explained the situation and I said it's fine, let's go ahead and schedule an appointment, and he's like "no, I don't appreciate that you said that I hung up on you!" And I told him that his attitude was unprofessional, asking who referred me to his office in which he proceeded to tell me that he thinks it would not work and that I would need to find someplace else. I am planning a trip to Peru and called around to several travel clinics to get prices for vaccinations. They all quoted me at least $250 for the shots I needed (yellow fever, typhoid, etc). I called Dr. Roque's office because of the great reviews here and found out I could get everything I need for just a $10 copay! I had to get my primary care physician to refer me (I have an HMO) but after that, it was smooth sailing. The receptionist is very helpful, on-top-of-things, and friendly. Dr. Roque was incredibly thorough and knowledgeable about all the potential troubles I might face in Peru. I was truly amazed at his breadth of knowledge and his willingness to sit down for 20 or 30 minutes and explain everything to me. I have to go back because my primary care physician wrote the referral incorrectly and I'm actually looking forward to it! This place is the best! read more

I have yet to visit Dr. Roque, but I want to review based just on the 4 minute and 22 second phone call I had with him about scheduling an appointment for my mother in law's I-693 medical examination. He answered the phone himself, I think. And, if not, then the person who did was extremely knowledgeable about what the USCIS requires. He got us in tomorrow and was able to answer every one of my many questions with confidence (e.g., is varicella required if she had chicken pox as a kid but has no record? what do we do about the TB skin test if she had an MMR vaccine two weeks ago? will it be a problem that she hasn't had the second dose of hep A/hep B?). I like this man already. This process is so complicated, and it's nice to have someone that understands well what's needed. I will update tomorrow after the appointment. read more

Dr Roque's office and staff are so friendly, professional, and provided all the information and immunization shots I needed before traveling to Colombia. I, too, also called around to travel clinics for prices--and those that accepted health insurance. (Which for that matter, most travel clinics I called do not take health insurances for travel-related preventative health expenses). Dr. Roque's office does! Dr. Roque was so nice, answered all my questions and asked where I was going so that he could make recommendations as to what shots I needed for A-plus health. It would be horrendous to tell stories of spending time being sick while on vacation or worse, to catch something and come back with it, (think Hep A). I highly recommend Dr. Roque, and will be going back for follow-up shots too. Pay with cash or health insurance. =) read more

I had a number of reservations going in, but those were completely forgotten when I left. 1. Office is located on the outskirts of Chicago, and website didn't really provide that much information about the clinic. Was it going to be sketchy? 2. I was on a tight time schedule, would he be timely or run behind like many offices do? 3. Immunizations are expensive, would be insurance cover the costs? 4. Why cash only? All legitimate concerns, for sure. Well, the strengths of the following features far outweighed the concerns, enough so to earn this place 5 stars. 1. Friendly Staff: The receptionist is incredibly nice. I was able to communicate my time schedule needs and she was able to make adjustments to the schedule. She also was able to provide info as to the nearest ATM and quick directions to transportation options 2. Immunizations and prescriptions: By far the most reasonably priced option in the city. Even though travel immunizations were not covered by insurance, the prices were very reasonable and affordable on a student budget. In addition, the pharmacy that they partner with provides great prescription coverage. I had to pay 30$ for a cab to where I was going (b/c of the time crunch) and I STILL saved money by coming here. I searched everywhere and there didn't seem to be a good travel clinic place that was affordable, but I think I finally found one! I am heading to SE Asia in a month so was looking for a place that would do some of the recommended vaccinations (typhoid, Hep A, polio, etc.). Unfortunately, my health insurance would not cover anything (unlike my travel buddy whose insurance covered everything - no fair!) so I had to do my own research in figuring out what the going rate was and whether a vaccine was worth the $$. Dr. Roque was great - he asked me about all of the cities I was travelling to and then made recommendations. I had done some research before arriving so I had a lot of questions, especially about taking anti-malarials, and he explained the pros and cons to me so I could make my own informed decision. He was not pushy at all and I came away with a ton of information on how to keep myself healthy while over there. He is on staff at Swedish Covenant Hospital so the office is in one of their professional buildings. $25 doctor visit fee (cash only), plus whatever vaccines you get (prices are super reasonable once you call places like NU and Passport Health and realize how expensive this stuff is) - you can't beat Dr. Roque! read more

I've been to Dr. Roque twice, and both times he showed genuine concern about my condition, and I felt like he really tried to get to the bottom of what was wrong with me. Both times I ended up wishing I had gone to see him sooner, because as soon as I followed his prescription and recommendations, I started to get better just days afterwards. Not to mention he's just sort of a funny guy, and super nice. Also the office (at least the two times I went, both on a Saturday and mid-day on a weekday) has never had more than a ten minute wait, which is invaluable if you're sitting there suffering with a fever or a hacking cough like I was. read more

When I heard that they were cash only, I was very skeptical. In fact, I had decided to find someplace else until I read other Yelp reviews. And I was happily surprised. I went to Dr. Roque to get immunizations for traveling, and he gave a thorough explanation of everything to watch for while traveling abroad. It was obvious that he cared about patient care and simply being a good doctor rather than just making money or getting to the next person. He spent close to 30 minutes giving advice, and it was all extremely helpful. And to add, his prices were extremely reasonable. Part of the reason they except cash only is to keep costs down. I saw the doctor (just $45) and got 6 shots, which included Hep A, Typhoid, and Yellow Fever all for less than $400 - would likely be around $600 for the same thing at other places. My first encounter with Dr. Roque turned out to be very hostile, very quickly. He was upset when my husband and I were asking questions about the insurance coverage. He denied the care to my husband and was reluctant to re-schedule the appointment upon insurance approval. (He left the office and said. I do not have time for you....) Additionally, he wrote on my vaccination card that he gave me the cholera vaccine but DID NOT give it to me, when I called back to the office, he said that they did not have it. A week later I called again to see if the vaccine was available, the lady that answer the phone said: Yes, we do have it. Thus, later that day I called again to make the appointment and the same guy that greeted us week earlier answered the phone and said that actually the vaccines were not available and to call in two weeks, that it was a misunderstanding. At this point, I suspected they were denying me the vaccines. Sure enough, I told a friend to call from her phone number and ask if the cholera and rabies vaccines were readily available to which they reply : "YES, we do have them, would you like to make an appointment?. To sum up; Dr. Roque has utterly and in a very insulting way denied me with the vaccines that I have completely covered. I DO NOT RECOMEND HIM AT ALL. And I told the same thing to my 5 friends that are travelling with me. He is a doctor, but he sure does not care for the way he treats his patients. My wife and I are traveling to Thailand soon and my PCP referred me to Dr. Roque. He sat down with us for quite some time and explained all of the medical concerns and precautions of traveling to the specific cities we are going to, and recommended and provided vaccine updates and antibiotics to bring with us in case of emergency. He seems well traveled, as he recommended food and activities for our trip as well! He said if we had any concerns while we were there we could message him through the MyChart system or call him on his cell phone anytime. Dr. David Roque is a quack. Would go to him periodically because he would cure what was ailing me. I didn't mind his no nonsense attitude because i wanted him to be straight up with me. But today this condescending A-hole said in not so many words that I was lying. Asked me why I didn't take blood test that he ordered?? I told him that I did. I said that I just blew it off. He's the only doctor I know from Swedish covenant hospital so if they stuck me a drew blood it was under his orders. Then he started to act real pissy when i told him i did not take his blood pressure pills he prescribed. Crying like a real school girl. Took pressure and it was normal. Dead silent. Was on me about my weight and he weighed me and I was down 75 pounds. Again silent. Then he goes on to say that he is no longer going to be my primary care physician. To look for another and how he has made his decision. Im like this guy is a piece of work. Was pretty much called a liar about the blood test that I did in fact take, didn't take those blood pressure pills because I lowered it the natural way and lost 75 almost 80 pounds also naturally. What most doctors would applaud this guy frowned upon. Seems like he's into keeping his patients sick so he can keep lining his pockets. Dont worry Roque quack. You'll never see me again. I called to many clinics to inquire for my immigration medical examination (I-693) and all of them quoted me more than $300 (immunization, TB skin test, blood test) except Dr. Roque, which only charge $175 (all-in!!!). He is such a detailed civil surgeon and his staff is very helpful and friendly too. I am happy that I found this immigration medical office and met Dr. David Roque. Dr. Roque has an easy-going but supremely confident bedside manner. His conscientiousness is second to none and he regularly makes follow up calls to ensure everything is going well. In my experience, he works extremely well with the specialists to whom he has referred me, and his own diagnoses and treatments are well explained and effective. We've moved our children from their Children's Memorial pediatricians to Dr. Roque because he works so well with children, and because of his willingness to make referrals in serious cases. I visited Dr Roque to get my vaccinations for Africa after reading previous yelp reviews. I was almost shocked at how much I learned from the actual visit! He was extremely thorough and knowledgeable about the specific places I was going to visit in Africa. He sat and talked with me for an hour about things I should expect and certain precautions I should take in order to stay healthy while there. I researched all the Chicago area options and they all quoted me at $500 for my Africa vaccinations, while Dr. Roque was at $300. I like that I was able to save money by going to Dr. Roque AND I like that I was able to get an appointment a half hour in advance (not sure how common that is, but I was super thankful). He was very informative of what to watch out for while traveling abroad and spent a lot of time covering all of the information. I was told to find another place to get my shots in the rudest manner since I did not come in for my shots. The miscommunication was that we had different times scheduled. Terrifying experience at this office as the doctor tried to draw blood from my wife's jugular vein which is in the neck for a simple blood test which should be performed from the arm. When confronted about his reasoning for trying to perform a blood work from the neck he simply laughed it off and said he is better at drawing blood from the neck vs arm. Avoid this office at all costs and make a complaint with Illinois Medical Board if you have had a similar experience. read more

Another great experience with Dr. Roque and his team. My husband had to get a medical exam for our immigration process. We were very nervous but Dr. Roque and his assistant were amazing. They sent us to a very affordable doctor when an additional test was needed and had his paperwork done in less than a week. He was thorough with me in not only checking about the few tangible concerns I had, but also focused on preventative care, and offered help with referrals. The WORST experience i ever had in my life. The doctor who is hanging up the phone on the patent's his name is David Roque, MD. When I went is his office for the first time he was so nice, and on the other hand I was so happy that I found a nice doctor. What a mistake. After I took an exam and he called me for results, he yelled at me, and he did not know how to explain to me better results so he suggested me to go on a Google and google my disases, in order for me to understand ed better. He as a doctor should now that I was frighten after he told me, and that I did not now what my name is and not what disease I have.. I was shocked more with his attitude, and conversation with me than with the virus which I had. When I received a bill, and told him what is the reason why I do not want to talk with him , after yelling and not letting me to finish my sentence he hang up on me... This was the worst experience I have had at a doctor. I got a referral to the doctor for a rubella shot. How much simpler can you get? I made my appointment in advance and had to take half a day off work to make it. I get to the appointment only to be told by the doctor "oops" we are out of rubella vaccines. You don't check this when you know a patient is coming in? Then he proceeds to talk about my personal reproductive treatment out loud in front of the whole waiting room. You don't need to be a doctor to know that this is a HIPPA violation and wholly inappropriate! Then to beat it all, he tells me that I should try to check back to see if and when they will get another vaccine in. I think to myself: I prescheduled my appointment spent an hour in traffic and probably 20 bucks in gas and you have the nerve to tell me that I should check back instead of offering to call me?!! After seeing Dr Roque for a few years, I learned that he was a great doctor. But after I turned 19, had no insurance.. he became lackluster at best. Every time I needed a prescription, for a antibiotic, he told me I needed to come in, and see him. But without insurance... I couldn't afford to foot the bill considering I was a college student living on my own. Flash forward to 24 years old, I received insurance under the new Obama law, Dr Roque saw me, no problems. Until my insurance was taken away for not submitting my birth certificate.. I've been suffering from migraines for months at this point.. I asked him to prescribe me something for my migraines, he told me to take excedrine, (which mind you.. didn't work) eventually he stopped returning my calls, or even picking up when his secretary told him it was me who was calling. I'm sorry but a doctor should NEVER give up on their patients regardless of insurance status. read more
