This is the second time I had to wait longer than 15 minutes for my appointment. The front desk staff are VERY rude, VERY unprofessional and VERY dismissive. After he makes you wait forever to be seen, he seems like a nice guy. It's unfortunate that his staff makes him look horrible to his clients and will start to cause him to lose money. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Plotkin for 15yrs. I have faced horrid times due to illness. Dr. Plotkin has done his best by me. Doctors these days spend most of their time in "fighting for you" with the insurance companies. Doctors also have a life of their own. They carry a baggage as heavy as yours and too push it along each day just as you do. I appreciate that he has time to remember facts about me as a person, not as a patient. That is meaningful to me. In every single time of crisis I felt his empathy, and felt that he did not leave me alone. That is meaningful to me. Being located at Montgomery General Hospital is a plus in terms of convenience (for me anyway). I like the fact that Dr. Plotkin actually takes the time to listen before hastily diagnosing and prescribing. I have yet to encounter a medical problem that couldn't be solved by Dr. Plotkin and since he is fully covered by my insurance... A+ Edit: Lowering my 5 star review to 2 stars after a horrible experience with the office staff and billing department. I was charged a $75 late fee for missing a follow up appointment (the late fee was mailed to me within 24 hours of missing the appointment, how prompt). I explained that I never received a follow up call or voice mail to confirm my appointment and simply forgot. Any other doctor's office would have gladly waived a FIRST EVER MISSED APPOINTMENT but this was simply "out of the question" on their end. This in no way changes my opinion of Dr. Plotkin's professionalism and medical expertise but begs the question: Why go to a doctor's office where the staff treats you poorly? This review is for the horrible experience my husband experienced at this office. We just moved to the neighborhood and received mailing from Dr Plotkin's office stating they were now accepting new patients. So I looked them up on our insurance website and noticed he was covered. My husband had a fever and I called at 8:30a.m to make an appointment. The lady I spoke with told me that the only time available was 4pm and that would be extending his day but she would give me a call to let me know if he is not able to see him. A call I never received. So my husband went for his appt and was met by a very RUDE staff. When he walked in he was greeted "Who are you?" He told her his name and she said "WHO?" He stated "my wife called for a 4pm appointment", she replied - "we said we would call if the dr is able to see you" which was not true. An older lady told the RUDE lady to give him the forms to fill out and have him set up in the system. This started an argument between the two ladies, right there in front of my husband - a new patient. After they were done arguing, the RUDE lady then said "YOU ARE SICK, RIGHT?" and proceeded to wear gloves and gave my husband a nose mask to wear. She then handed him the forms. My husband said "what is this for? you make it seem as if I have some form of disease or something" and he returned the forms back to her and walked out. When he got home and told me the encounter, I called the office and of course the RUDE lady picked up. I explained to her that that is no way to treat a patient and requested I speak with an office manager. Of course, she said there was no office manager! How convenient! I asked for her boss - she said Dr Plotkin was her boss. So I asked for his voicemail, and of course he did not have a voicemail. Once again, how convenient! Dr Plotkin - if you are reading this review, get rid of that lady as she will run your office down. She is first impression patients see and if they are treated in such a rude manner, chances are they will not wait to be seen or return back. It is no wonder you are mailing fliers out to the neighborhood for new patients. This is no way to treat a patient. As someone who works in the health profession, you are to treat patients with the most utmost respect and courtesy, regardless. We are very disappointed with this office and will never return or refer any of our neighbors there. And please, DO NOT SEND any more fliers in the mail if you don't have courteous staff. read more

I have been a patient here for over a decade and will continue with this practice until we relocate in retirement. They are conveniently located next to the hospital and Dr Plotkin has very good peer reviews which prompted my selection years ago. This has been borne out over the years by his knowledge and attention to patients needs. This is a busy practice I'm sure partially due to location, which can result in long wait times on occasion. I also think this is common for general practices today considering the demands driven by insurance corporations. However, my husband and I have always received last minute accommodation when needs dictated, and once Dr Plotkin meets with you, you are not rushed through. Staff issues mentioned by other reviewers are not at all reflective of my experience. On the contrary, I have come to rely on the knowledge and experience in particular of Janet the long-time account manager. Her navigation of the intricacies of insurance demands is amazing, and she will work with you to attain the best outcome. I can definitely recommend this practice. read more

I have no issue with Dr. Plotkin. He has been responsive and has always taken the time to listen during appointments. The office staff, however, is a different story. My grandson, son and daughter in law all got the flu. I was needed to care for them so I called the office and asked them to call in an RX for Tamil. They refused to do so and told me they had an appointment available in two weeks. (I went to CVS Minuteclinic where I had the RX and was out the door in an hour) I have called when I have been sick and been treated dismissively. I missed an appointment because I got sick and I called the office to cancel. Despite my call and the fact that I was sick, they billed me $75 for not showing up. I have given up on them and now don't even bother calling them- I just go to the MinuteClinic. It is a shame because I have found Dr. Plotkin to be very thorough and a good doctor, but I am not going to be treated so poorly- and pay for the privilege. read more

Dr. Plotkin is a good doctor. Sure he can be a little stressed sometimes but you don't know how demanding some of those patients in the waiting room are. As for the staff if you are polite they are polite. I have never had a problem with anyone there and you can tell how stressed they are sometimes. When I was very very sick for month I finally saw Dr. Plotkin who immediately sent me to the ER. I has a sever UTI and Bladder infection that didn't have the usual UTI symptoms. Two days later at a follow up i wasn't feeling much better and Dr. Plotkin was the only Dr. who saw that even though the ER gave me instructions for 2 antibiotics I had only received a prescription for one. Once I got the other anti biotic I began to actually get better. Thank you Dr. Plotkin. I also dance ballet and have seen Dr. Plotkin for swollen knees and injured ankles. read more

I have no doubt that Dr. Plotkin may be great for sports medicine issues but as a general practitioner, he is questionable at best. As the patient ages, the less tolerant he is. He doesn't listen and throws out sarcastic comments in response to concerns. I also have to agree with a previous reviewer about his staff. The receptionist is rude and uncaring. The front office staff as a whole is very unprofessional and as the first point of contact with his office, Dr. Plotkin should care a little more about it as it reflects on his practice. read more

I am not completely surprised by the negative comments regarding Dr. Plotkin and/or his office staff. I mean they are sort of a one-man show, so some of the comments regarding wait times make sense. Here is the thing; Dr. Plotkin is a fairly young yet VERY knowledgeable physician. He has many years of clinical experience and even a specialty in sports medicine. He takes his time with each patient and shares information that is often outside the scope of time that is allotted for each patient's visit. Is it accurate that you might wait awhile? Yes. Is it also true that when he comes in to see you, your appointment may run over for the next patient, YES! You cannot fault this man for having bedside mannerisms that have escaped the medical profession as more practices have multiple providers and/or make money based on how many patients they see per day. Dr. Plotkin's office does not operate that way. His office has minimal staff with one physician, one nurse, one office specialist/manager, and one administrative assistant. He does not have other providers to cover his patients and he believes in providing comprehensive examinations. The office staff has changed a lot over the years with only the specialist/manager being consistent. She has learned to adapt to Dr. Plotkin's leadership style where others have for whatever reason stumbled. She has a great memory and will call you by first name when she recognizes you. Although she does not always have the most welcoming tone when you first walk in, she is definitely a gem and knows how to keep the operation together. I would undoubtedly recommend Dr. Plotkin as a physician. He has been my Primary Care Physician (PCP) for well over ten years and I look forward to the next 100! read more

Dr. Plotkin 1st and most of all cares for his patients. You are not a number....you are a person recognised. He is pretty knowledgeable with how medicines interact with each other. As an example my wife was on a Chemo Shot therapy from a "cancer specialist." Dr. Plotkin told her that she should not be on it for more than a year. However in doing a thorough check he called the cancer "specialist" to inform him that she is on it for almost 3 years....which could lead to organ failure, et etc etc. This is only one example. If he knows your situation, he monitors it. He is not afraid to tell you to come back in a few days if the meds are not making you feel well. In other words he does not throw you to the wind. He is a great doctor based also upon the number of patients who go to him. read more

My husband and I have been going to Dr. Plotkin for years. We have never missed an appointment until recently when an emergency happened concerning my car. I had a near fatal accident. When my husband explained to the office staff that his wife had an emergency and could not make the appointment, they told him he would be charged for a missed appointment. Two days later we received a bill for $75.00. Not once did they call to see if I was ok. The bedside manner of Dr. Plotkin has a lot to be desired. We changed doctors and filled out the forms to have our medical records sent to the new doctor. They had two and a half months to do this and they didn't do it. I had to call them to ask why they did not comply with our medical request. They told me that the fax probably didn't go through!!! Wow... there are a lot of good doctors out there but for your own sake don't go to this office! read more
