I found the staff at Edwards to be cordial as well as enlightening , taking time to better educate me on the various nuances of their business ( coverage limits, deductible limits, enhancement endorsements, riders etc) , helping me become a more discerning consumer. The net result was, a homeowner policy with better limits, a more reasonable deductible, and fair premiums. On top of that, I received a 30% discount for adding my auto as well! Chris was personable and knowledgable , even if his humor was a little lame ( sorry Chris) lol. I would not hesitate to refer anyone with Insurance needs to this agency and be reasonably certain you will be pleased too

Sometimes the best of things come about by luck. I bought a building about 16 years -- a fourflat…read more- in Chicago, owned by a Ukranian woman whose family had had insurance with a by-then elderly man for many, many years. I continued the insurance as that man's agency morphed into Total Insurance in the Northbrook suburbs over the years. I was lucky that I did. About 14 years ago the City of Chicago's ward superintendent ran his City vehicle into the building, taking out about 30 feet of the foundation and hitting the building so hard light bulbs unscrewed from the second story overhead lights. Total Insurance and the insurance company counseled me on steering through the City's amazingly complicated process of claims (the City refused to settle for what their own independent appraiser firm suggested for political reasons, until the City relented). Total's advice paid off every step of the lengthy process. As the years went on and I slowly attempted to restore and renovate the building as best I could Total Insurance continued to seek the best and lowest price insurance they could for me, and I finally ended the last few years up obtaining a commercial policy coverage through Total's agent, Brian Koepke. Brian proved himself adept at securing insurance coverage at the cheapest possible rates for a 1900 huge frame four flat that I could not claim had been "gut rehabbed". To do so Brian spent considerable time describing the building and working through the coverages available. Then Brian dealt with the unbelievable confusion of Citimortgage, which kept insisting that there could only be one "Total Insurance" in all the United States. Finally, when Brian made them realize the size and number of policyholders Total Insurance (in Northbrook represents), they relented and created a special coding for "my" Total Insurance so that I could use the escrow account. In obtaining insurance for the right price in the right way, Total Insurance and Brian Koepke proved themselves top-notch. Then, after several years went by, my declining health meant I had to sell the building. Brian proved himself just as diligent then as he had in securing insurance: he kept in touch with the insurer weekly to make sure that the return of premium money to me due to the cancellation of the policy came to me without a hitch. Total is a great company, and Brian is a great agent. The Ukranian woman who sold me the building gave me a great entry into the insurance world!

Clearly the individual leaving the one and only review for this company must be an employee…read more I called this company while doing comparable shopping for insurance quotes and received none of the professionalism listed above. What I did receive was rudeness. The first time I called the guy that answered the phone stated that he could not hear me and simply hung up. Even though I thought this was rude, I gave the benefit of the doubt and called back. When the same guy answered, I advised that I was calling to get an insurance quote and he actually stated, "Maybe you should try calling back later, everyone here in the office is to busy right now for that." I actually laughed, thanked him and moved on with my search. I'm writing this review for other customers to save them the time in calling this company. Clearly, this guy showed no concern with acquiring a potential customer-maybe in his opinion, they have all they need right now. I can only imagine how they treat the customers that they already have. The terribly sad part in this is that most of the time management has no clue that they have employees that treat customers this way and only come to work for a check and could truly care less about providing stellar customer service or retaining customers for their employer. I suggest management seeks out better employee's or more customer service training. While their prices may be lower than another insurance agency, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would appreciate great customer service in addition to low prices. Potential customers, please know that this seems to be a case of, "You get what you pay for."

In the last few months I've had two very major issues with them: 1) A car insurance claim for an accident. I told Kevin about it and we were the ones that filed a police report. I even scanned a letter in from the other party's insurance that asked us to take action and admit fault, which I was not about to do. Kevin acknowledges receipt and says he'll take care of it. Weeks pass and I get a knock on the door at 8am from a court officer handing me a letter saying I'm due to appear in court in a two weeks. If I didn't show, there'd be a default judgement against me. Again, I forward this to Kevin and he says he'll take care of it and that I don't have to show up to court. It's now one day before my court date and I've heard nothing. I call the State Farm claim office and they say they have nothing from Kevin or that office and that this is a very serious issue. They apologize profusely, contact me numerous times via phone and e-mail that day, and take care of the issue by having the court appearance dismissed. Awesome. Kevin? Not so awesome. But, being the moron I am, I decide to retain them as my local agent. 2) I buy a new house a couple months ago and ask for home insurance. After moving in, we get an e-mail (you'll never guess from who) asking for a picture of our shared, detached garage with no ivy on it. We say we don't have such a picture, because, you know, there's ivy on the garage. We also tell them it is shared property and we can't just have work like that done immediately. The owner of the other half has to be contacted, approve of the work, and pay for half. They don't reply. A few weeks later, on a Friday afternoon, the asshole decides to email again demanding a picture of the garage without ivy by Monday (doesn't such an immediate need also typically require a phone call?). That's all. Nothing listing any consequences or anything. We say, again, that it's not possible for the work to take place so fast. Again, a few weeks later, we get a letter in the mail saying our home insurance has been cancelled due to the ivy on the garage. W. T. F. Hey, Kevin, thanks for a heads up. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. The day I got this letter I began the process of moving over my insurance to Roni Siegel. She has good Yelp reviews and her agents have been very kind and helpful so far. If it weren't for State Farm's wonderful central claims center, there's no way I'd still be a customer with them either.
