Aside from the Kitchener Rangers games that I must note are a remarkable experience to attend - seriously OHL games are amazing (who needs the NHL anyway). The Aud is also a great spot for Concerts, Events and Variety acts. I had the great joy of seeing both Tim Allen and Russel Peters perform their comedy routines while I was attending Wlifrid Laurier University. The great thing about seeing variety acts at the Aud is that the smaller arena size means that there is seldom a bad seat in the house. You can have a great view pretty much anywhere and the seating is comfortable. Most recently - as in last night - I once again ventured back to the KW area to attend the University night of Oktoberfest. While this event isn't as traditional as other Oktoberfest events, you can still get a fresh hot Pretzel, Bratwurst, hats, lederhosen, drindle and of course Beer! The venue set up for this is great : long tables sit in traditional Oktoberfest style end to end, plenty of ingenius garbage can/table hybrids fill the space and to cap it all off the large stage at the front of the room is a great focal point where all can watch the band play traditional German folk songs and contemporary hits. This is a cute little arena nestled in a residential neighbourhood. It has ice all year around and…read morea handy schedule that can be accessed via the City of Burlington website. They have public skates for a low fee ($0 to about $4), shinny for all different age groups, and lessons. You can register your spot online which is highly recommended if you're going to do one of the popular times for shinny. There was a good amount of parking even during the busier public skate at 8pm. I was surprised to see electric vehicle chargers there. The inside was clean and bright. The floors were all lined with skate friendly flooring. There were 4 change rooms and a bench outside the rink for you to put your skates on. The skate was well run. There was an area with pylons blocked off from the blue line for toddlers who were learning how to skate. The rest of the rink was for the public. There was music being played over speakers which made it a pleasant experience. There were also a few skate patrol personnel that were checking up on folks that had fallen and trying to control skaters that were going the wrong way or skating dangerously. The skate was listed as being from 7-8pm but we were asked to leave the ice 10 minutes before 8pm, probably to resurface the ice for the next group. Make sure to get there early so you get the max amount of skate time in!

We attended a performance at the first Ontario concert Hall over the weekend and had a really good…read moreexperience. The venue is much bigger than I thought it would be and it fits so many people. The seats were incredible and we had a fantastic view of the stage from the left centre orchestra. When I looked up, I was surprised to see that the hall appeared bigger than the TSO. There were multiple decks of seats and many people could fit into the venue. The employees were all very friendly and the beverages were well priced. We found it challenging to park in the area due to all of the traffic and one way streets but once we found the entrance to the hall (we first went in the wrong door) it was a pleasant experience to the very end. I noticed people dressed up more for the symphony here than they do in Toronto, which is an interesting observation. Would we return? Absolutely!

There were 4 streetcars. They ran in a circle to other areas of the park. The volunteers refurbished them to good repairs condition. Kudos to top results! Even though we came for the rail rides, we were blown away by the museum. So many ancient ones including some from early 1900's, the years around World War One. We were allowed to walk through some of the streetcars. I was glad to see an (old) advertisement to sell a detached house for CDN$69k near Toronto waterfront. LOL. This park is full of delights and treasures not easily found in the urban city of Toronto. A bit of a drive but you will be well rewarded.

The annual membership is worth it if you live in the area or plan to visit more than a few times. The volunteers are passionate about the streetcars, and are a wealth of knowledge. Lots of space and picnic tables. Lots of parking available. The trains leave every half hour, and they run rain or shine. Only time they will stop the trains is if there is lightning/thunderstorms because it is too dangerous.

It has a nice trail that joins the waterfront trail and you can enjoy both the view and the walk. When we got here, there was a large filming crew filming beside the castle which was interesting to watch.
