Say it with me now... JLC, JLC... The name change has always bothered me. I mean John Labatt has history in this city so yeah, you can call it what you want but it will remain that to me. At any rate for the longest time we haven't had the greatest venues for large arena style concerts and productions. When I was little I remember having to go to London Gardens to see Alice Cooper... okay, that dates me but it was crap for concerts and I longed for something like this as I had to travel to see any real names. The venue has now seen the likes of tons of greats (Cher, Bowie, Neil Diamond, Green Day, Def Leppard etc etc) and tons of not so greats (I'm looking at you Metro Station... *shivers*) anyhow that's rather subjective anyways. The point is the arena is a big draw not just for knights games but basketball games, broadway productions, concerts etc. and it does not disappoint. There is always something going on here for all walks of life. Tonight I had the pleasure of revisiting it for Hedley and I remember why I like it so. Okay the Tiki Bar that serves smoothies has a lot to do with it (with or without alcohol), and the fact that I have the best bathrooms stalked out. When you are a girl at a crowded show you need to know which ones get bogged down or run out of tissue first and which ones always seem to be good to go. But the main thing is the acoustics. They are great whether back of the house nosebleeds or front row. I will say that there is a strange sound thing that does occasionally happen at the back of the floor when full arena shows are going on. But aside from that you can sit in good ole 303, or 106 or Floor 3, Row A and still hear the show amazingly. The con which almost gets it knocked down. Dasani water. I just want normal bottled water people!!! Oh well, I just had a smoothie instead and got over it ;)

Il Divo - Amor and Passion Tour 2016

I have been to Budweiser Gardens several times for various concerts. I've seen The Goo Goo Dolls here twice, also the Dixie Chicks and just recently Il Divo. This venue has always been a great venue to see concerts, I had even come out to London before I even lived here for a concert (at the time it was formally known as The John Labatt Centre). I think it's one of the larger venues in this city, and living downtown, a quick 15 minute walk from my place. Last night, Il Divo had their Amor and Passion 2016 tour stop here and I surprised my boyfriend by taking him, he loves Il Divo and I thought a surprise would be nice! I ordered the tickets the day before and they were ready at Will Call/The Box Office when I came to pick them up the next day. Very easy to order, and although where our seats were, the cheapest tickets were $71.50, plus a $10.50 convenience fee, the seats were not that bad. We had seats in section 310, way way way way up near the back. It was the RBC Theatre that hosted this event, so it wasn't the entire theatre, I would assume they used 1/3 of the space. I would have given the venue 4 stars, but the fact that I had to pay $23 for two drinks was absolutely absurd. All the merchandise, food and drink in this venue is super expensive. All in all for about 4 drinks (2 beers, a cider and a bottle of water) I think we ended up paying $40. Which is way too expensive. I understand making a profit, but this was way too much. I definitely enjoyed this venue, the seating wasn't bad and the sound and music was very enjoyable. The price could be a bit cheaper, but for once in a while, and the location of this venue, it's a great place to come to enjoy what it has to offer.

Six years and a name change later, this Bud's for you. Haha...ha? I had to do it, even though it's still the JLC to me. Still a rock solid venue. Acoustics good. Sight lines good. The only annoying thing is how bright the "Bud" red is as their signage is all around. Yes, the point but it's like in yo'face, Labatt!

Here to watch Johnny Reid with my daughter . JH Shiplett is the opening act. Excited to see Johnny

Went to Budweiser Gardens to see Johnny Reid. Easy to order tickets. Easy to get in, no long line ups. Ate at one if their kiosks called Wich is Wich. Very good sandwiches but $25.00 later... Yikes. Had great seats and what an amazing concert. The sound was amazing and lighting was beautiful . Had a great night.

Atmosphere/Appearance: Set right on the corner of Dundas and Talbot is this gem. It's pretty much a sports bar with a stage for when there's live music or a DJ present! You have to stay tuned to their social media pages and website for that information. Once in the door you're brought immediately to the bar area which is pretty big and full of giant TVs all over the place. As you make your way further into the restaurant you'll walk past the complimentary popcorn machine and leave the bar area as you enter the main dining room. Further back is where the live music would be. It wasn't terribly loud, but it seemed like it may have been a slow night. Service: Mia took excellent care of me. She was sweet, fast, thorough and made sure that I had everything that I needed! Jay is also the owner so be sure to say hi to him. Food: Throughout my 2 visits here to Fitzray's I was able to try several things, so I'll break them down individually. Here goes. Strip Steak Appetizer: So this is a New York strip cut and sautéed with garlic butter and red wine then served with a garlic aioli as well as a chipotle sauce. The steak was very tender, seasoned well and the sauces were perfect complements to the steak. Fish & Chips: So this is 6 oz. of beer-battered haddock loin on a bed of fries. Classic. I LOVED this dish more than I expected to. This place is actually known for this dish and I see why. The fish was super flakey, flavorful and there isn't much more to say. It's such a simple straightforward dish that's done so well. Maple Bacon Dry Rub Wings: So the wings here are breaded, like a THICK, fluffy breading that I wouldn't normally enjoy, but it didn't bother me on any of the wings. These were crispy, the meat fell off the bone and these tasted like if the syrup from your pancakes or waffles touched your bacon. Lol. I hope that makes sense. Hot Honey Wings: These were Mia's favorite flavor so I had to try these out. These was a lot of good Buffalo flavor right up front with just a bit of sweetness on the back end that was a supporting character in this wing's story. Suicide Wings: So this is the HOTTEST flavor that the restaurant offers. The heat comes in a little late and continues to build for a LONG time. These are no joke, but I could handle them. Lol. Deliciously saucy. Mango Habanero Dry Rub Wings: Super flavorful, smokey, peppery, spicy with a good fruity flavor. Value: Excellent. It's pub fare, so it's not meant to be super expensive here, but the drinks will certainly sneak up on you. You can also get a pound of wings for $9.00 CAD during their #WingWednesday special which runs all day and again on Sundays. You can also get that same deal every night after 8:00pm. In conclusion, I loved this place and I'm very happy that I had the opportunity to check this place out. I can see myself stopping back in to try some more things in the future when I visit the area again. Thank you for reading.

Ordered hot honey wings thinking that's what I would get and it was hot and honey garlic. NOT hot honey. NOT the same thing but the staff seem to believe it is. Also I've never seen a restaurant put "hot and honey garlic" on their menu let alone call it by the wrong name.. If somebody wants two sauces mixed they will ask for it, you don't add it to the menu. Make sure the menu is written properly and the staff are trained on it. Literally your only job is to know that menu front to back and bring it to me after I've ordered. Next they are going to tell me Cesar salad and a Cesar drink are the same thing.

With most concerts running on the weekend, it runs a program called El Sistema during the week that offers free musical instruction to area kids throughout the week. The venue simply could not run without local grants and sponsorship by local businesses. In addtion, it only has a few employees with almost all 'staff' being volunteer. I prefer the balcony myself for the accoustics, but the main floor can be changed to suit the show. From local acts to big name acts - the variety is simply astounding - and all different types of music are represented. It has a very cozy, home-away-from-home type of vibe and the night I was there even saw draws during intermission to win prizes dontaed by local businesses. It was pretty adorable. I've been a handful of times over the last few years and every time make a mental not that I really must start going a LOT more. The building is just beautiful inside and out and there is a good snack and drink selection - all relatively well priced comared to a lot of live music venues. If you've never been I really encourage you to make a special trip and for those that have I encourage you to continue to support them and all the work they do for the local community. Truly, I love this place.

It was small, dark a dismall, to my horror when looking into the waste basket nearest the toilet ... USED SYRINGES IN PLAIN SIGHT! I ran from there to my room again... the nights sleep was ok aside from the music pounding my body... The next morning we woke up to some old man creep pounding at our door. Turns out this was the REAL hotel manager. He basically told us to get our shit and get out. We quickly gathered together our things but not before we went downstairs to confront the original man who turned out to be the bartender. He refused to give me back any of the money claiming that i was being stupid. We ran up to our now unlocked hotel room. My friend couldnt find her cell phone. I told her to look under the pillows and sure enough there it was. She knew she left it on the desk and i saw it there too. Once we retrieved the phone and hotel management caught eye of this he started getting more verbally violent.
