He's got good bedside manner but messed up my vasectomy and left me in pain for weeks.

The previous reviews going back to 2014 are correct when they say Urology Austin has a phone call,…read morefront counter, no call backs, can't talk to a nurse problems. If you need to talk to a nurse the crappy third party can only take a message. You better pray it's not an immediate need because these people will not get back to you for up to a week. We usually have to call again and leave a message again. The time to get to talk to a nurse takes around two weeks. If you miss the call you will not be transferred back to a nurse either. This insane process will start all over. This problem has been notated not only by us for two years with the nurses, Dr. Maloney, the office manager but also on yelp with other patients since 2014. The second problem is the portal. What a worthless, useless unreliable piece of garbage. It doesn't work. We have relayed for two years that it doesn't work. We have told the nurses, the front office staff, the office manager and Dr. Maloney to no resolution. We have been lied to by one of the many office managers who said "it's a new program and we are working the bugs out."I called the two office managers who told me this out and let them know that wasn't true because literally on yelp the same problem with the same exact statement was given to multiple patients over the course of years and I know this because it was recorded as a complaint on yelp since 2014 and even back then the old office manager back then was lying to patients. Third, Urology Austin goes through office managers like water through a faucet. I don't know why but I've overheard office staff commenting about this fact. Thirdly; Dr. Malone doesn't address root causes. He treats symptoms, doesn't answer questions, rushes through your appointment, and if you request more testing, you're ignored. He gloats that he does three surgeries a week. That seems highly excessive. Why is he not solving the problem of why certain conditions are existing to begin with? He also never remembers patients. We don't expect to have a close relationship but after two years and you're still introducing yourself as if it's the first time meeting us, then this doctor should be examined for dementia. Fourthly, front office staff. There one woman in particular. We tried the formal complaint process to no avail. She has her cell phone at the cr desk and plays music on it. Cell phones record everything regardless of whether the record button is on or not. This HIPPA violation was never addressed by the office manager. I was refused information and paperwork to file a formal HIPPA complaint. Fifth; I complained that the third party was asking medical questions. This is a HIPPA. Violation. Again, I was ignored when I requested to file a formal complaint in writing. This area is devoI'd of urologists. This company is taking advantage of this fact and not doing its sworn duty to care for the patient. This is a corporation and they treat the patient like an assembly line.

Checking out with Julio who was sweet, kind and attentive on following up with my future appointment w/Dr. Denson. The bathroom didn't seem too clean but overall nice. The waiting area was a bit small and congested. When I arrived, there was a line of 6 people in front of me and it took awhile to be seated. I may check out Dr. Denson's other locations for next time since she was worth it.

My vasectomy procedure did not exactly go according to plan, both from a procedural standpoint as…read morewell as front office proceedings. I explained to the doctor during our consultation in January how terrified I was of this procedure and that I wanted both the valium and nitrous to get me through it. He said no problem. I also received a printout of pre-op and post-op instructions, which includes them stating someone will discuss with me specimen collection. Well... 1. I was not administered the nitrous as requested, and as a result, I was entirely too coherent during the procedure. 2. The doctor failed to adequately numb the area prior to beginning the procedure, which, as you can imagine, resulted in incredible discomfort. After I yelled out, he apologized and applied additional numbing medication to help. 3. There was literally no post-op follow up discussion. Basically just snipped and left. No one bothered to check in on me or go over the specimen collection process as stated in their printout. 4. When I was paying the bill before leaving, I did not receive any kind of detailed statement to clarify what all I had just paid for. And then they billed me again for something that 1. I had already paid for and 2. Something they never even gave me (the Fellow kit for specimen collection). While the doctor's bedside manner was fine, it would have been nice for him to thoroughly explain how the procedure is done and what kinds of things to expect and where. Something as simple as "hey, this is where you are going to see incision marks, this is what those incisions will look like afterwards, this is how much post-op bleeding you should expect, etc.". Instead, I'm left wondering if I'm going to end up with scarred testicles that do not look right or feel right after everything settles down. It's a very uneasy feeling. Looking back, the entire process was disjointed and uncoordinated, and I'm not happy about it. Now I'm just praying the doctor did the job correctly, so I do not have to endure that nightmare again.

I had this appt scheduled for a month or more. Erin called me to reschedule but wanted to reschedule me for the Cedar Park office rather than Round Rock where I was scheduled. I told her that was too far and she asked could she call me back in 10 minutes. She never called. That was Friday. On Monday I left a message early am I left a message and staff said she would send a rush message to Erin. She never called. I called again that afternoon and staff told me message was sent that am and she would send another one. Still no call. Every time they have wanted me to do either PT/ new procedures they have wanted me to go to Cedar Park, which I did on one occasion. Now Vicky told me on Friday if I didn't go to Cedar Park it would be January which is totally unacceptable as I have already waited for an extended period of time. I have attempted to get Erin to return my call as she said she would do with no success. Dr Bruce is absolutely great but I have only seen him on 2 occasions b/c I always get set up with the nurse practitioner . The staff is totally irresponsible. I understand doctors have emergencies they have no control over but I should have to be put back past others who will get their scheduled appts and they should try to work with the patient to work them in some way. Would not recommend this practice to anyone. My gynecologist was the one who referred me there so I was expecting this to be a great experience; not the experience I have gotten.

After the pain didn't go away after about a week I called in and was told it was normal for some people to have pain that lasted longer than a few days. After the second week I called in and said I think there was an issue as the pain was gradually getting worse. They scheduled an appointment and when I went in I told Mr. Mistry that I was in too much pain for him to physically examine my testicles. He looked at me and immediately grabbed them and I pushed him away and said "what the heck man?" He had an young female intern in the examination room at the time. He told me I just can't handle the pain and had a weak pelvic floor, and referred me to a physical therapist that if I remember right was in his office. I decided I'd do it but a few days later I was in so much pain I couldn't get out of bed or make a bowel movement. I googled other doctors in the area and found one that agreed to fit me in the same day. I went in to see the new doctor and he talked to me for a while and asked to physically examine my testicles. I told him they felt like they were going to pop at any time, he explained that he really needed to check the back side of them and that he would talk me through it and if at any time it got too bad he'd stop. After about 5 seconds he told me I had epididymitis and that I needed to go see a specialist in San Antonio. He gave me a prescription for pain medicine and something else to help with the pain while I was waiting for my appt in San Antonio a week or so later. After seeing the specialist he confirmed I had epididymitis and gave me options to do a nerve block or reversal. I chose to do the reversal, and do the nerve block if that didn't work. Luckily the reversal worked and despite having a large scar now I am back to normal. Mr Mistry (Dr is a title for people that deserve it) was completely disrespectful, didn't care, and most of all was completely wrong about what was going on with me. Later I found out a family friend had a very similar interaction with him with a different procedure. The doctor that did the reversal said that everything looked good as far as the actual vasectomy procedure. Where he went wrong was during the follow ups and being a complete arrogant jerk. I have nothing positive to say about this guy, hopefully this will be the one and only negative review I ever leave for someone.
