Went in yesterday as a new patient to get my IUD switched out. During the procedure, my hands, arms, and jaw went completely numb, and I had a full on panic attack. Dr. Baghdassarian tried to calm me down (I guess?) by saying, "You're making this way harder than it has to be", "it's not that bad", "Just breathe", "Calm down", and other phrases that were unhelpful and insensitive. I was dizzy and freaking out. I was in an extremely vulnerable position and felt like I had no control over my body, and Dr B is inbetween my legs telling me to just, "RELAX." I asked him several times to please tell me what he was about to do so I could prepare myself mentally, and he never did. I couldn't stop shaking afterwards. I was in shock all day, crying on and off in my car, at school, and later at home. I talked to my boyfriend's mom who has been working in the medical field her entire life and is a nurse (OR/ER) and she said I was having a bad reaction to the local anesthesia, Lidocaine. I was not warned about the possible side affects or that I'd be receiving it at all. I couldn't believe that I was having a reaction that was completely uncontrollable on my part and Dr. B was getting visibly frustrated with me like it was my fault. Does he not know about the side affects?! I felt absolutely talked down to, belittled, and humiliated. I even apologized to the nurse before I left. Why did I do that??
I will NEVER be going back. I've never felt so much like a piece of meat, a time slot, a number in my life. There are too many OBGYNs in the Dallas area to settle for a doctor who is this lacking in patient communication and relationships skills.
