My wife was a patient of Dr. Johnson's, but hasn't been to the doctor in a couple of years. I called to make an appointment and was told she would have to make an appointment as a new patient... and that there was nothing available until mid-March. We called about possibly having a cancerous growth detected by another office, and were encouraged to see her primary. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be prudent to wait several months to have this looked at; and could be deadly. I am disappointed, because we trust and like Dr. Johnson. He is just simply not available and we can't risk her life to wait... I am a little shocked that they were wanting us to. read more

Dr. Johnson has been my PCP for a little over 10 years now. Always receive the best care from the front office to the back... The other Doctors share the same philosophy on treatment so it makes it easier if I need to seek care in a pinch. Always look forward to what I call the "go beyond" annual physical. He makes sure cover everything so that I leave worry-free and come back next year for another... Now if he had a cure to help me stay out of trouble with my wife!!!! read more

Staff is not cordial at all. Doctor overcharges. If you go in there for just a routine (bloodwork) exam, do not bring up any ailments or probs you may be having because they will just charge you extra for that without informing you. Not a practice I would recommend. read more

I recently moved to Frisco from Philadelphia and was in need of a physical. I came across SMA online and liked that I was able to message the office online to book my appointment. When I arrived I completed the required forms and was told I had to pay $22.30. My insurance card states no money is to be collected at time of service. When I pointed that out to the receptionist she said they can't bill me because the system tells her what my responsibility is. I told her (1) I've never paid any doctor at time of service (2) I made an appointment for a physical which is preventive and I'm never charged for anything preventive. She informed me that the visit couldn't be billed as a physical, & had to be billed as a visit to establish the doctor as my PCP. Had any of this been explained to me when I made the appointment I would've looked elsewhere for medical care and not wasted my time. I'm more than capable of paying what she requested but the fact that this blatantly violates what's clearly stated on my insurance card and that they were going to bill my insurance for something more that what I scheduled without a discussion with me rubs me the wrong way. Update: I was able to find a great PCP. My physical was the first appointment, they didn't attempt to collect any money and my explanation of benefits says I don't owe anything for the visit. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Johnson's since 2005. (14+ years) He knows me and my personality and preferences. He is a very good doctor and I know that because of all the problems I have had over the years and he and his staff have helped me in several ways including giving me samples of expensive medicine that I cannot afford, and the last couple of years he has hired a back-up physician at the practice to cover for him.. I know through the years the wait time as been long, but they have corrected this by their scheduling. He has actually saved my life, according to the ER he insisted on - ASAP. It ended up, after he brought in a cardiologist and many tests later that I had to have a pacemaker installed. He has taken care of all my needs and I love our discussions on the state of the world - he is brilliant. I have a good relationship with the staff, they are very helpful and efficient. If course he has had staff changes over the years, but the new hires are great too! The only negative I can come up with is that I am not given copies of the various tests run. That is probably my fault as I have not asked for them. LOL. They also have cookies!! read more

Where do I start with this review. I am 29 yrs old and typically stay away from doctors as I feel I would be wasting there time. There are other patients who have other illness that is more severe than mine . I moved back to the DFW area after college. I grew up in the Metroplex and attended Elementary in Hurst, Middle School in Canada, High School at Trinity in Euless, TX. I moved to the Frisco area and really wanted to find a doctor but at the same time did not just want to go to any random guy on my plan. I was looking for the IDEAL Family Doctor for my family of 3 ;). I hate taking time off for Medical reasons since scheduling with work and doctors offices is typically a nightmare. I was glad to work with Brittany at the front desk to try and line up 3 appts that I had that day starting with Dr. Bryan Johnson M.D and Ending with Dr George Wang DDS. I went to Dr. Bryan Johnson because something was not feeling right to me. I was experiencing weight loss and this is not weight loss that I wanted personally. I wish to be at my ideal weight and felt that for the last 6 months something was not right. I looked through my Aetna plan and found Dr Bryan Johnson information on the provider directory. I read the reviews about long wait time inside the screening room and expected that. I was very happy that wait time was longer than the typical 5 min. Most doctors come in and speak to you for 5 min, whip up a prescription, give you 2 smacks on the buttocks and send you on your merry way. This is what our medical system has came to and why I truly wanted to stay away. I am glad to say Dr. Bryan Johnson is an excellent Dr and one who spends plenty of time listening to the patient. Letting the patient speak his mind and tell you what is going on. He does his test on you with his stethoscope to check your airways, and feel your organs to make sure their is no abnormalities, swelling or tenderness. He checked my neck to make sure what could be a thyroid gland in overdrive mode. He does couple tests to see if the tell tale signs pop up and if he can ID the diagnosis. Then we move over to blood test, urine test and X ray to dig deeper and find out the underlying root cause before we whip up a prescription and send you on your merry way. This is how medicine works you find out the root cause and treat that. Sometimes it might be as simple as stress, diet and triggers that get you stuck in a rut. It is very important to do some detailed analysis to rule out the wrong diagnosis and not waste time, money or life. I am very happy to await my results and know that Dr Bryan Johnson is on my side and we will sit in that screening room and he will hear everything I have to say. He will then spend time and we will work together to get to the bottom of this. No other doctor will spend more than 5 minutes with you in this time and age. Thanks Fez. read more

Dr. Bryan Johnson and Stonebriar Medical Associates P.A. have shown gross negligence in caring for my 83 year old father battling multiple infections. My father was taken by ambulance to Baylor Scott & White - Centennial on Tuesday and was diagnosed with diverticulitis. Dr. Johnson advised my dad should be discharged at 1 a.m. and see him at his office that same day. First thing yesterday I made an appointment for my dad to see Dr. Johnson at 4:30 p.m. Early in the afternoon, my dad was in severe pain and fell. I called Dr. Johnson's office and was told not to take him to the ER but to keep the 4:30 appointment. We sat in his office for 1.5 hrs after our scheduled 4:30 pm appointment time and my father was never seen by the doctor. I repeatedly asked the staff when my dad would be seen. I was told by the nurse that she had knocked on the door of the of the exam room Dr. Johnson was in and he refused to answer. I can't imagine why a doctor would be in an exam room and not open the door to his own nurse for 90 minutes. Finally, Sam couldn't tolerate sitting in the uncomfortable exam chair any longer and we had to leave. Now he is doing much worse and has been admitted to the hospital and will need treatment for several days. I am beyond furious at the level of "care" my father has received from Dr. Johnson. Dr. Johnson has yet to contact me or to reach out to get an update on my father who has been his patient for years. Please share this to help your friends and family avoid this doctor and this practice. read more

Dr Johnson takes the time to get to know you, understand your health concerns, your past treatments, family history, etc and makes educated recommendations for any tests or treatments if required. He does not order unnecessary testing and is happy to provide available sample medication before making you fill a costly prescription. In my experience, he is thorough in his review of test results against symptoms and has helped me reach a true diagnosis and course for treatment on a problem I've had all of my life that other doctors have discounted. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Johnson and his staff. read more

Dr. Johnson is a wonderful doctor if you don't mind late night rounds. Unfortunately his young receptionist if very curt and completely non-compassionate. The newer medical assistant is very inexperienced and very defensive if she makes a mistake. Most of the staff is very helpful, but you are lucky to get your prescriptions called in. read more

After moving to the area I was in need of an internist and chose Dr. Johnson based on reviews, ignoring some of the negative ones thinking they met him on an off day. My first appointment was at 9:00 am and after a one and a half hour wait he entered the exam room. While visiting with me he was kind, caring, compassionate, and asked thoughtful questions about myself and my medical background. Even though it was long wait I decided to return for a physical because of his caring attitude. For the second visit he has your blood work done the week before the exam, a great plus because you get to discuss the results when you come in, or so I was told. On exam day I arrived ten minutes early, checked in and waited. And waited, And waited. An hour and a half after the scheduled appointment time I was escorted back to the exam room. I was told to wait to change into a gown until he saw me. I waited. And waited some more. I waited so long I finished my book. After an additional 40 minutes, and hearing him greet the patient in the room next door, I opened my door and started to leave. The staff immediately told me they would interrupt Dr. Johnson's current exam of another patient to have him visit with me. I asked how that would be fair to that patient who I was confident had waited a long time as well? They then offered to reschedule my appointment which I gladly accepted but something about being in the computer on a project prohibited them from doing just that while I was in the office. I was assured they would call me within the hour to reschedule, writing down my phone number on a pad in front of the scheduling staff member, and they apologized again. No call was forth coming and forty-eight hours later I called the office and asked for a copy of my blood work and it was sent without question. I can thank them for that. So my take from my experience is this: if you want a caring doctor, you've probably found him. But if you want your time to be as valued as the caring doctor's time, go somewhere else. Dr. Johnson needs to learn time management skills. If he wants to take an hour with a patient, great, but then he should schedule his day to accommodate his style of care. I've now found a doctor who values my time as much as hers, asks all the right and needed questions and gives me the needed time to understand the whole picture without feeling rushed. All this is wonderful but the best part is she values my time. Sorry, Dr. Johnson rates a one star. read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Johnson for 3 years now. I have never had an experience with a Dr. who has spent so much time with me to get to know me on a personal level so that he could really understand what would be the best way to specialize my treatment for the best results for me. He genuinely cares for you and although you may have to wait a while to see him, it's worth it for the level of care he gives. Dr Johnson has excellent bedside manner, he's thorough, thoughtful and really listens. He is usually running behind schedule but that's because he spends time with each patient.
