UPDATE: Within minutes of posting this I received a call from the billing department and the doctor had finally been contacted and agreed with me about the additional charges. The X-ray charge has been removed. I have changed this review from 1 star to 5. Be cautious when receiving additional charges from any dental billing department. This is NOT my first experience with a dentist office over billing.

My wife went in and they told her she needed 7 crowns which is where the finance person came into play. She just went to another very highly rated dentist in Wisconsin (We moved) and the dentist said everything looked good with no need for any crowns. 7 crowns was going to be over $12,000.

He takes the time to explain the condition, treatment options and exactly what needs to be done to correct the problem. He's patient and will explain the why and how without attitude and has never pressured me to chose one option over another. The decision was entirely mine. I moved out of state several years ago and was fortunate to be back in IL when I needed additional work. Should I require significant treatment in the future, I'll travel back to IL because I trust Dr. Colthurst's skill and knowledge that much. I've also never had any issues with the office staff, billing or otherwise.

I found the staff to be professional and straightforward in their communication. I never saw the same person twice, different specialties I guess. They have a lot of exam rooms so they are working with several patients at the same time. That's ok with me. For what I had done, and the end result, I am very satisfied with the experience.

My family started going to this office in 2021. Today I just found out that they still haven't sent in the paperwork for the 2021 visit and the visit may not be covered by my insurance due to this negligence. They also lost a few checks that were sent by the insurance for 2022 visits. The receptionist are rude and condescending. They also just informed me that they dropped my insurance back in April of 2022. This was after they told me me during my July visit that we were still in network. Stay away from this office.
