I have been coming to this dentist office for quite a few years now and they are great! Dr Kalra was my dentist and we got to talking about my double jaw surgery I had in 2011 and how I had nerve damage in my face/mouth. He offered his services for laser treatment with no promises as this was 12 years after the surgery, but I came in every couple weeks and the nerve damage kept getting better and I kept getting more feeling back. I would say there was a pretty significant improvement in feeling and tingling sensation after the laser treatments. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone seeking dental care and/or laser therapy. read more

I've been going to this practice a little over a year, and was pretty happy... until today. I took my son in for a cleaning, and he was seen by a new female employee (I don't know her name, because she never introduced herself). My son was in the chair 10 minutes, and half that time was spent talking. She polished his teeth (something that shouldn't happen until after a cleaning) and poked around his mouth a little with an explorer (a tool meant for finding cavities, not cleaning). Then had my son pick out a toothbrush. His appointment was over! I was expecting a dentist would come do an exam. Then I realized this woman WAS the dentist, and the woman assisting her was the hygienist. When I asked the dentist if they no longer clean children's teeth, she told me she did clean them, "with this" she said holding up the explorer. Then she attempted to teach me proper brushing and flossing techniques, but I stopped her and told her I knew how to brush and floss because my husband is a dental hygienist. Her eyes widened and she looked, nervously, over at the hygienist. They both now knew that I was not ignorant to what she'd just done. She'd pretended to clean my son's teeth (in 5 minutes) and then lied about it when I questioned her. Ironically the scaling tools (used to clean teeth) lay untouched on the tray. Why Dr. Halihan would bring a dentist like this into his practice is beyond me. I cancelled all my future appointments and will not be going back. read more

Randy Halihan, DDS - I used disclosing tabs to expose the large amounts of plaque left on my son's teeth after his "cleaning". Purple is old plaque, pink is new. - General Dentistry Near Me - Crystal Lake, Illinois

This is one of the very best dental practices in the area. I have been going there for about 12 years. The whole office is great from front desk, hygenists and dentists. The hygenists are gentle, friendly and do excellent work. We often see Dr. Stern and he is fantastic. Highly recommend for the entire family. read more

I have had a life-long fear of dentists based on previous experiences. I finally got to the point where I needed all of my teeth extracted and my wife recommended Halihan as the office to do it based an an extraordinary experience she had there getting a root canal. I was lucky enough to get Dr. Martha Jaimes as the person to "work on me". The whole staff at this office is amazing and very comforting for someone in my situation to walk into. Dr Jaimes was amazing - walking me through every step of what was happening and being extremely encouraging and empathetic during the work she did. I have never been to a dentist office that I would ever recommend. Most are cold and just want to get you out and go to the next patient. You don't feel that here. Given the gravity of my situation, I am shocked that I continually walk out of this office feeling wonderful and like these people care. read more

Overall I have liked this dentist. Just want to let all future patients know that if you have fluoride applied to one, ONE tooth and insurance doesnt cover it the cost is.....$42! I've had full fluoride treatment before and it didn't cost me hundreads of dollars which by this math, 28 teeth (thank God I had my wisdom teeth pulled) would cost $1176! I called the office and they stood by their price, and offered me a 10% discount. I should have asked about the cost before hand and now YOU can and should! read more

I can only comment on the lady I talked to on the phone when trying to schedule an appointment as a new patient. I can tell this office is all about money verses actually caring about their patients and in my opinion, especially with a dentist office, that means run the other way. She was extremely rude when asking about my insurance, that was the only thing she seemed concerned with not my reasoning for trying to book an appointment. She was extremely persistent on making sure I didn't have a bad policy or an "hmo". She had an attitude the whole time and I was trying to explain to her that we don't have an "hmo" that we have a great policy, but she said she understands "I think it's a great policy but it doesn't mean it is." I understand they need to make sure they will get paid, but if she wasn't rude and let me give her my member ID she would have realized that I do in fact have a great policy that is more then likely better then hers. My husband works for UPS and their benefits for employees is outstanding. I have never once had any issues with medical services or have ever had problems getting an appointment anywhere. Besides the rude front desk lady, this office may be great with great doctors but I would never go anywhere with rude staff. There are a lot of highly reviewed dentist around and I was able to find and get an appointment with another office who were extremely polite, addressed my questions, concerns AND booked my appointment before even asking about my insurance. read more

Been going to see Dr. Halihan for years and recently was treated by Dr. Stern due to a emergency visit, and he was pleasant to work with as well. Everything is very clean and the staff are very professional. I've also referred people to Dr. Halihan and they have all said the same thing. He won't try to sell you a tooth procedure you don't need like other dentists. My previous dentist said I needed over $6000 worth of work. Dr Halihan said I needed to have one cavity filled. I won't go anywhere else. read more

I live in Schaumburg and I drive all the way to Crystal Lake to see Dr. Halihan and his staff. Everyone is just so kind and professional, plus the office is immaculate. My teeth always feel fantastic after a cleaning and even though I've had some cavities in the past, they never make me feel bad about it. They always just explain nicely how to prevent them and give me coupons for teeth products :) See you guys in September for my cleaning!! read more

I'm very pleased with Dr. Halihan's office! The entire staff is helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I was extremely uncomfortable going to the dentist in the past and procrastinated going in for my regular cleanings. Now I actually look forward to going because of how great my teeth feel after the visit. This is easily, one of the most professional, clean, friendly, and knowledgeable medical offices I have ever been a patient of...and am proud to give them a full 5 stars! read more

This was the worst experience for my 9 year old granddaughter. She was afraid going to the dentist to start with. The hygienist was totally unsympathetic to her fears and did nothing to make her feel more comfortable. She was impatient and while listening to her sobs simply waited and sighed as if to say " let's move on". My son in law asked for a few minutes of alone time with his daughter to calm her down and was told they were booked back to back so no that wasn't possible. They left without my granddaughter having her checkup. When the office was contacted and told of Michelle 's total lack of professionalism and inability to deal with a fearful child my daughter was given the" we understand you're upset but ...... This is a family dentist office and all the employees there should be competent to treat even the youngest and most fearful family members otherwise don't work in an environment that's not suited to your disposition. We just moved to the area, and we needed to find a new dentist, because our dentist was too far away We were with our old dentist for a long time, so we knew it would be hard to switch. I recently went in for a cleaning, and it was a very pleasant experience, the minute I walked in the door. The office was super clean, and had a very homey feel to it. The receptionist was incredibly friendly. She was a blast to talk to. We had some great laughs, while I was waiting to be called back. My hygienist Janette, was super sweet, and took great care of me. She had some great advice about becoming a hygienist, and how to handle my schooling. Dr. Stern was super nice. He answered all of the questions/concerns that I had, and was very pleasant. My husband is scheduled for his cleaning in a few weeks. I made a great choice coming to this office. I was very pleased with my visit! read more

It's been over 7 years since I've been to the dentist and coming here was a very enjoyable experience. I mean who knew going to the dentist could actually be a fun experience. The staff was very nice and courteous. The office is really nice and was cool on a hot day. There are small TVs that you can watch while getting your teeth cleaned. There wasn't a spot left untouched by my hygienist who no doubt is very good at her job. Ill have no problem coming back here for my 6 month check up. Oh and no cavities! read more

Tried this practice after moving to the area. Unfortunately I never had the same hygienist twice. And the hygienists should not take on the role of doctor, the doctors need to spend some time with the patient. I left feeling stressed after every visit. Have decided it's time to find another practice. read more

I got referred to Randy Halihan when my dentist was retiring. I had been seeing my dentist for well over 15 years, he knew me, knew my teeth and even if his methods were a little old fashioned, he provided great dental care. So I went for my first clean and checkup, I was blown away by the technology, efficiency, bedside manner of everyone I had the pleasure meeting. And when you get to meet Randy, well he really is lovely, gentle, caring and he really knows teeth. He's a handsome tall drink of water, but we won't hold that against him! I had my cleaning, new patient Xrays and checkup. I tiny cavity was found next to an existing one that went up in a large molar, and the team was courteous to get me booked in quickly the Christmas Holidays so I could use my coverage before it restarted on Jan 1. I came down with what turned out to be a Sinus infection over the Christmas holiday. I saw my GP, who prescribed and antibiotic, but over New Years the pain became unbearable and felt as though it was in my tooth that had just had a cavity taken care of. The team got me in right away, Randy did a detailed inspection of the tooth, Xrays the works. He could see nothing wrong with the tooth, but prescribed me stronger antibiotics, mild pain reliever and referred me to an oral surgeon if significant improvement was not felt within 24 hours. I felt so much better the following day. I would recommend him in heartbeat! read more

I can not say enough about Randy Halihan Family Dentistry. This place goes above and beyond when it comes to their patients. I have been going there for about a year and a half with nothing but positive visits. My first visit was made due to pain with a tooth, they saw me the same day and solved the issue. I have had several cleanings/check-ups since then, with them advising me that i have a tooth that needs a root-canal. Because of my stupidity, I kept putting it off. Then all in the sudden the most intense pain I have ever had. I think Dr. Stern said it was a hyper active nerve. Wouldn't you know, it was in that same tooth I should have taken care of on previous visits. To make a long story short, Dr Stern (the gentle dentist) stayed late and did the root canal that he advised me on getting about 1 year ago. Also a thanks to Dr Davis who saved another tooth from a root-canal. Thanks for being their and providing top-notch service for someone not smart enough to take care of problems early! Learn something from me, don't put things off. See your dentist regularly. If you don't have a first-class dentist, see the folks at Randy Halihan Family Dentistry. read more

What a great office! My husband and I have had several dentists in the last couple of years and we finally feel like we have found one that we can trust! I would definitely recommend this office if you're looking for a new dentist! read more

First time here, had a great experience! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. Great office, very clean and comfortable, even with massage chairs and tv's while you are being worked on. Jorrie did such a great job, was so nice and my teeth feel so clean! She really takes her time and I did not feel like I was just being passed through an assembly line. Dr. Rosenblatt was also very nice and I felt was very thorough. Thankfully it was an uneventful appointment, so it was pretty routine. But, I think I will actually look forward going to the dentist now at this office! I would definitely recommend this office! read more

I found Dr. Stern when I lost a filling and my previous dentist of 30 years had just retired. The staff is very nice, and Dr. Stern is great for patients who have a fear of the dentis (like me!). I was worried at first that I'd be talked into getting work done I didn't need, but that is not the case. I've already recommended this practice to people at work, and they now go here too!! read more

I have never ever been so pleased with a dentist before. Dr. Stern is the BEST! I was with the same dentist for over twenty years and when he retired I started shopping for a new practice, which is scary in itself. I went to a dentist who outlined a treatment plane of over $2,000. As one of the recommended procedures was going to be quite painful and I had never before heard that I may need this, I decided to get a second opinion. Dr. Stern got me right in for a second opinion. He assured me that I did not the painful scaling. I have now been to this practice once for a cleaning and twice to ave some old silver fillings replaced. Dr. Stern, is the most kind and gentle dentist I have ever been to. He advises and coaches throughout the entire procedure! I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Stern! read more

I've actually only been here twice now, but it's the first great dental experience I've had since moving to Illinois. I was in desperate need for a dentist due to pain so I went all around meeting some and calling offices, but this dentistry stood out from the rest. The woman who worked at the service desk listened to my message and my complicated issue, spoke with the dentist personally, and immediately called me back telling me that I had an appointment the very next day. Most dental offices wouldn't schedule me in for at least a week, let alone speak of procedures before I even had a consultation. After attending the appointment, I was pleasantly surprised .. about everything. First off, the interior of the dentistry is very relaxing, clean, and up-to-date, which is rare to find. The staff at the service desk (or anyone that happened to walk through the waiting area) were extremely friendly and helpful; definitely different from the usual rudeness I get at other dentist offices. The final test was whether or not I liked the dentist, Dr. Stern, I was assigned to. Now, it's important to know that I'm incredibly frightened of dentists due to past experiences, but Dr. Stern was extremely calming, informative, and friendly. After I got more in depth about my issues with my teeth he performed a root canal on me that very day! Others would have waited 2 weeks, for sure, and I would have suffered through it in pain. Throughout the procedure Dr. Stern would constantly check to see if I was doing okay and let me know exactly what he was doing. A day later, after the root canal, I feel ten times better (of course, I was prescribed some strong medication) and completely relieved, but I know that he did a fantastic job on my root canal already! I have never been so pleased with a dentist/dentistry in general before, and I am so glad that I found this place! read more

I went to the office with a problem with a sensitive tooth. I saw Dr. Jaimes. She examined my tooth and found a crack in it. Although she was busy, she managed to fit me into her schedule and repaired the tooth. The procedure was quick, efficient, and as painless as one can expect. I would recommend visiting Dr. Jaimes and will use their services again. read more

This is strictly based on the demeanor of the receptionist taking my appointment. Here is a taste of what I just experienced..I called as a new prospective patient for my whole family. The entire time I was speaking with this girl she was entirely rude and uninformative. I asked her if they had Saturday hours and she told me "only for people that we have been seeing for a long time", I asked for a late appointment and was told "well, I guess I can schedule you a few months out". I said, "my husband is having a lot of pain, and we just moved back to the area, are you a few months out for emergency work?", her response..... "I guess I can squeeze you in in a few weeks, but, that is it, it will only be for his tooth and you better be a PPO or we can't see you". I was polite, even friendly and she was so rude!!! I read all these great reviews about this practice and was very upset when I got off the phone. I made the appointments, but, honestly, I'm going to continue to call around. I think coming in as a new patient, you should at least feel like the person on the other end of the line wants to have you as a patient. She didn't even say bye. I had to review our appointment times, she confirmed them, I thanked her for her time, and she abruptly said "Yep" and hung up on me. WOW! What an awful experience so far!!!! read more

Amazing dentists and staff. I see Dr Rosenblatt and he is very kind, patient and explains everything. I never feel rushed and always leave with all my questions answered. I saw Dr Stern today for a root canal. He knew I was nervous and was very patient with me. He explained everything he was going to do and wanted me to raise my hand with the slightest feeling of pain so he can numb me some more. The root canal was 100% painless. I am impressed, especially after hearing the horror stories some people have with root canals. I am so happy I found this office and plan on stay here, forever!!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Halihan et al for over 10 years. Lately, while on travel, I have had some dental issues. I wasn't going to be home for awhile so I contacted the office to ask for some information, schedule an appointment, and ask advice. On both occasions, I was contacted by the dentist shortly after leaving a message. This type of exceptional customer service is rare. Best dental squad ever. Love all the girls in the office, and Dr Halihan is the best dentist I've ever had. We recommend everyone to them. the dentists and hygienists are wonderful...however, when you book 3 appointments, 1 for you and 2 for your children, and check in and come out from your cleaning and see your son sleeping on the sofa, and you ask has he been back he says no mom they have not called me back, mind you this is 45 minutes later, i began to get upset. When I asked the receptionist why, she accidentally deleted his appointment when she checked us in....ok now I am infuriated, she asks me to come back at 1:45 to see if they can squeeze him in. Well lets see I took him out of school to have his cleaning done at 11:30 and then you "accidentally" delete his appointment? I work in the health field when it is your mistake you fix it not telling the patient to come back later and maybe we will get you in of the cleaning, you should put him the next chair that opens up! Needless to say we will not be back, they lost 4 patients and we will not recommend this practice to anyone....back to our old dentists we had for over 10 years! read more
