Dr. Holz is a comprehensive health care provider committed to his patients. This is a long review. Please take a moment to read it. I found Dr. Holz many years ago via a girlfriend's referral. Grateful for that referral. I moved my husband to his practice. We have a 13 year old son who has only had Dr. Holz as his dentist - we skipped a pediatric dentist altogether - our son has always been comfortable there and trusts everyone from the front desk and the hygienists to especially Dr. Holz. He enjoys that Dr. Holz takes the time to explain all procedures, the x-rays, answers questions and even makes a point of knowing his interests. The office is well maintained, quiet and extremely time cognizant. The extensive in-house technology employed is always forward looking and unobtrusive. I've had repair work from prior care, replacement work due to age of fillings, cosmetic work performed because I wanted it. Every visit includes preventive inspection of lymph nodes, tongue, palate palpitation. My teeth/mouth/gums continue to be healthy as a result of Dr. Holz' care. I am confident saying Dr. Holz' goal is exactly that - long term healthy patients. Lastly, my family enjoys better than average dental insurance. However, the front office always confirms coverage - the three of us have differing care requirements - making us aware of potential out-of-pocket costs/options. Adolescent dental requirements are typically not covered without separate clauses. Dr. Holz' front office will spend the time checking rather than multiple calls from me. I started going to Dr. Holz over 10 years ago when I used to work in Lake Forest. A co-worker introduced me to his practice, and I've never looked back. I now live in Evanston and no longer have an office in Lake Forest; however, the commute is worth it. Here are my main reasons for sticking by his practice: 1. High quality. First and foremost, I require the assurance that the dental care that I am receiving (and paying for!) is of highest available quality. Dr. Holz's practice epitomizes this. 2. Professionalism balanced w/ personal care and attention. Dr. Holz always listens to my concerns patiently and gives me thorough and thoughtful responses, laying out treatment options and/or recommendations. 3. Great staff. The office manager (Sandi, who has been there for as long as I've been going there) is awesome. You never have to fiddle with insurance questions that are often headaches for us patients, especially with our dental coverage/plans changing periodically based on whatever plans our employers select. Dr. Holz's office takes care of insurance claims, etc. *completely* so that all I see is a final bill from his office showing if and what I owe after insurance is factored. They even double check with insurance to make sure that appointments are set up within the timeframe allowed by the specific plan--e.g., some insurance allows no more than 1 visit in a 6 month period while others simply stipulate 2 per year. Dr. Ken Holz has been my dentist for more than twenty years. During this time, I have never waited more than five minutes for my appointment. When I enter the room, everything is ready for me. His dental hygienists are very nice and personable. I have been extremely happy with my cleanings as they are usually very painless. Even the X-rays are painless. Then Dr. Holz comes in for the exam. He is very thorough when examining your teeth and gums. If you need further dental work such as a crown, he does everything in his office. There is no temporary crown needed, he makes it while you wait. It's all very convenient. I feel as though he and his staff really care about their patients' needs, both physically and personally. I've known Dr. Ken Holz for approximately 20 years. My whole my family are Dr. Holz's patients. Unfortunately, our previous dentist before Dr. Holz was bad. When we switched to Dr. Holz, he fixed my cavities and put in 3 bridges. When the work was completed, my teeth felt good. Since then, I've been visiting Dr. Holz's office for many years for regular cleanings and checkups. Dr. Holz and his dental hygienists are all very gentle and make things as pain free as possible. When we moved to Illinois in 2007 a family friend recommended Dr Holz and his practice. The best compliment you can make to your dentist is to say that your are looking forward to your next visit. I have never had a dentist I've liked or trusted more than Dr. Holz. He takes excellent care of my teeth, is super gentle, and does the most beautiful work. He makes his crowns in-house and they are absolute perfection. Marla is my hygienist and she's thorough, gentle and fun. Alicia handles the office, insurance, estimates, and probably a million other things. She's wonderful. Everyone here is so warm and nice. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Holz and his staff. Excellent dentist and great service from the team!! I recently had a sporadic pain problem with some teeth. Dr. Holz took the time to methodically determinie which tooth it was, performed a root canal immediately and eliminated the pain. This is just one example why our family has continued to go to Dr. Holz' office after moving here from PA. 7 years ago.
