Everything was done so professionally. I had an implant done. No pain what so ever. They really know thier stuff.

Eight weeks prior to Doctor Tatch doing my extraction I had a wisdom tooth extracted by my regular dentist with severe pain in extraction and neck muscles being over stressed leaving me in pain with a gritty feeling every time I turned my head. The technique left a lot to be desired. Doctor Tatch did my second extraction and the procedure left no neck injury at ALL with NO pain or lasting neck injury. Fantastic work by Doctor Tatch and Mia, assistant, and no trama to my neck muscles! The procedure by Doctor Tatch is so quick and easy that I can understand why they requested payment up front. Other patients do not understand this payment approach but I am more than happy to oblige. I'm a tad bit dental phobic; sweaty palms, urges to run out of the office, occasional room spins, a strong desire for a valium drip commencing 72 hours before my appointment, as well as my wife to offer calm encouragement, reassurance, and praise for hours before, during and after my visits. (Hey! I'm not that bad! I haven't peed myself or ran out of the office!) I'm currently a few weeks into recovery, have visited since surgery, and I'm scheduled for yet another visit later on. Dr. Walter Tatch's photo should appear adjacent to the definition of "oral surgeon". During your initial visit, you should easily note that Dr. Tatch possesses a very sincere, and professional demeanor. Once you've engaged in conversation, it becomes apparent that he is respectful, focused, very intelligent, and an exceptional communicator, who capably explains complex matters regarding your diagnosis, his intended treatment plan and your prognosis in terms which are very easy to digest even with a higher stress level. He will answer any question that you may have, and will inquire if you understood his explanation and if you might have additional questions or concerns. His Dental Assistants exude efficiency and capability, which also seems to be reassuring. Support staff will provide an attractive and understandable information packet, which also includes details about expense and payment, which understandably is due prior to surgery, and if necessary, your subsequent aftercare visit(s). There may also be info provided about payment through a finance company (for qualifying patients). As I wrote this, it dawned on me that, whether I've encountered Dr. Tatch's staff in reception, his office staff or his dental assistants, each and every one of them have been pleasant, welcoming, very professional and evidently enthused, regardless of their role. Dr Tatch, I appreciate your response to my comments on 10/25, 2019. I know patients do appreciate knowing in advance of their costs regarding their procedures.However, as a patient I do not appreciate being asked to pay BEFORE the procedure has even begun. I have never experienced that in any other dental office , and I have been to a few...Dr Brunnetti for extraction 2015, Kermit Radtke for root canal 2011, plus my most recent visit to Ira Spiro in December.Honestly, I have been going to dentists for 60 years...............never was I asked to pay before a procedure. It may seem trite to some but its just not ethical in my opinion.Thank you for responding. I have had 2 extractions 1 year apart at Dr. Tach's office. On BOTH occasions I was asked for payment before the extraction was performed. The first time I thought maybe the secretary didn't realize this was unusual. However, after the same request was made BEFORE my 2nd extraction I realized this is policy at his office. On this 2nd visit , he froze me and left the room, and he was gone for 17 minutes..............(I had the clock right alongside of me)...........not cool to try to do 2 patients at a time. Even worse, as I sat there waiting, the secretary comes in and told me the computers are not accepting credit cards now so she wanted me to sign an agreement to pay!!!!!...................its pretty obvious this office has one priority................to get your money!!! Dr Tatch is good at what he does, but I will NEVER return after this 2nd visit and enduring a 20 minute wait after being frozen, and annoyingly interrupted to sign an agreement to pay. Dr. Tatch and his entire staff at all 3 locations are absolutely wonderful. I have been treated with extreme kindness, patience and with the best possible dental care anyone would hope for. I had 3 bone grafts (at a much cheaper fee than quoted by a surgeon in Naperville) in preparation for 3 implants. All surgeries were handled meticulously, with zero complications after. Everything was explained in great detail by Dr. Tatch and his staff. I would recommend anyone visit this group. All three offices are beautiful, with a calm atmosphere and state of the art technology. They accept self pay and insurance. I had no insurance at the time and believe I was given a good deal on all my dental work. Dr. Tatch has an expert hand and I never felt any pain during my procedures. Excellent care and results. Dr Tatch was referred by my dentist and did a wonderful job with my implant. I had my one year follow up and all is still great. The office staff was friendly and accommodating to me at all times. My calls were returned in a timely manner as well. Highly recommend this doctor for his expertise, precision and professionalism. Dr. Walter Tatch is most professional and knowledgeable oral surgeon I know! I had my wisdom teeth removed at Gurnee location and it was amazing experience! My bottom wisdom teeth were impacted and really close to my facial nerves; nevertheless, Dr. Tatch did incredible job and my recovery went fast with minimal pain. Also, office staff was very organized and friendly. I am definitely going to come back to see Dr.Tatch if I will have any other problems in future. read more

**Note** I saw Dr. Benjamin Howard, NOT Dr. Tatch. And it was at the Gurnee office. I just had my wisdom teeth pulled and was referred here by my dentist. My experience was the opposite of the other two reviews, actually. Dr. Howard went into great detail to explain every possible complication that could happen with my surgery and answered all of my questions with patience. I was reminded multiple times in multiple forms of communication to fast before surgery, take my amoxicillin, etc. Both Dr. Howard and the two nurses I had (sorry, I don't remember names!) were extremely nice and everyone was willing to go to great lengths to make sure I didn't pass out during my IV catheter placement (I have an embarrassing history of this), giving me laughing gas prior to the placement and making sure I felt relaxed. I actually did receive a courtesy call later that day to make sure I was doing alright, which I thought was really nice. The only thing I have in common with the previous reviewers is that my wait was quite long, but that's what my iPhone is for :) I sort of wish this place offered general dentistry because I had a really great experience! read more

I recently went in to get my wisdom teeth removed. I was very nervous about being under anesthesia but Dr. Tatch helped me calm down. His staff is wonderful as well. Just had my 2 bottom wisdom teeth removed yesterday by Dr. Tatch and everything went great! They explained everything to myself and my driver so we are both aware. The office staff is so lovely and they even help me lowered the bill so it wasn't so high. I came out with minimal pain and they even called me after to make sure I was doing okay. Dr. Thatch himself is very knowledgeable and good at his profession. Be prepared to wait an hour over your appointment time before you get in. Been there twice now both early and late in the day still an hour wait! His staff could better inform the patients of what needs to be done prior to oral surgery. Thet tend to hold back information from the patient for whatever reason? They seem to be a little pricey compared to other Dentists performing implant surgery, but again he is good at what he does. read more

Office of Dr. Tatch was recommended by family dentist for wisdom teeth (4) extraction. Could not have been more pleased with office staff, fees, and most mportantly Dr. Tatch. He explained everything several times and stopped procedure frequently to make sure I was doing well (couldn't talk during extraction). Office staff followed up later in day with call to home to see how I was doing and answer any questions. Dr. Walter Tatch was absolutely wonderful and took very good care of me! He explained everything in full detail with large screens to view my xrays and the work to be done during my consultations. Since I was nervous, he was very kind to meet with me more than once, to answer further questions about my implant, sinus lift and bone graph. I felt confident in moving forward with him! His bedside manner was wonderful and very understanding! The whole staff was very kind. Good luck even getting in to see Dr. Tatch. I tried for months to get an appointment, and the only person I ever got to talk to was the woman in charge of insurance. She didn't understand what type of surgery I needed or even how insurance works. She insisted I had to pay up front for surgery that would be covered by my medical insurance. She refused to ever help me or give me any helpful information. Once I finally got in to see Dr. Tatch, I found him quite professional, but the way his staff kept insisting he's "just a DDS" made me lose all confidence in his office or their ability to get everything right. The thing is, if he were "just a DDS" he wouldn't be able to do major surgery. (We aren't just talking oral surgery but rather major jaw surgery that involves a stay in the ICU.) And when it came to needing to provide background information regarding the surgery to the insurance company for preapproval, again, the only person I could ever talk to refused to help with any of it. After a year of struggling with his office, I never got the information I needed for the insurance company and elected to forget about Dr. Tatch. Even if I could finally get everything squared away with the insurance company, I still had no idea whether Dr. Tatch would accept the insurance company's rates. Would you trust a surgeon with major surgery when their staff is this inept? read more

Dr. Tatch is amazing. I won't go into my lovely procedure (in addition to implant) but he always been so calm, thorough, takes pride and sticks behinds his work. Great follow up. Dr. Tatch seemed very good when he took out both our daughter's wisdom teeth in January and March. Our 23 year old autistic son had a cracked tooth that was infected. We went for a consult and although he tried to give him something to relax him so he could pull it, he did not wait for it to take effect. He said he would have to do it in the hospital and have him put under. That was fine, however it took 3 days and chasing after them to find out he would not make time to do it until July. After taking our son to a different oral surgeon, We found out it could not wait that long and there was still an infection. This could could have been very dangerous had we not persued it. If your child has moderate to severe disabilities, do not come here. Dr. Tatch does not seem in any great hurry to help them. He never even tried to approach our son and look in his mouth himself. He only relied on an x-ray. His professionalism leaves a great deal to be desired. read more

Get your price in writing, they like to change it on you. Staff stands around and chats, can be a little rude. Dr. Tatch seems alright but not great bedside manner. They don't even give you a courtesy call the day after surgery to see how you're doing. read more

WARNING !!!! WARNING !!!! Do not go here. Its all about the money. Stay away go to someone else that will take your insurance. They tell you when you arrive that they are not in your network they do not even check. Their goal is to make you pay up front for everything. The staff is so nice they are miss leading. They will tell you they will file the insurance papers in your behalf and the insurance company will mail you the reimbursement check back to you, but guess what it doesn't happen they get it. They would tell you that the insurance company made a mistake and accidentally paid them. When you call to try to straighten it out. All you get is excuses it's like they have a play playbook of excuses what to tell you to get you off the phone. They say can't find the check. My office visit was for a great deal of money that I paid up front. I have great insurance I called my insurance company and they said he is in my network and they said under his contract he is not allowed to charge upfront with patients that are in the network. read more
