If I could give this place a -10 I would . They put hands on my family member when he asked why they let me leave with the car knowing that the transmission was still messed up after taking my money. The dude got defensive against him and my family member wasn't being rude just asking questions & then he started cussing out my family member & proceeded to threaten to throw hands . After asking for the old transmission back they ended up pushing him and trying to instigate a fight. The only people they would talk to was me and my mom and we're both very white looking, so it kind of shows their character and how they are racist. My mom cussed them out but no cussing or threatening to fight was made to her. Definitely save yourself the hassle and money. If you guys need work done correctly try going to Waukegan auto shops at least there they get stuff done and don't rob you of your money or charge you at high rates . read more

My family has been using Dave's Transmission for many years. We took my husbands car in last week with concerns about what NTB claimed the car needed. After Dave looked at it, he performed only what was needed (new brakes and rotors). We are very comfortable with him working on our cars and he is always honest and is very fairly priced. My senior citizen mother came in to get an oil change here. She came based on a referral from a friend. 3 weeks after her oil change she went to Wisconsin Dells to visit a family member. On her way home her car was overheating and she pulled over in a golf course parking lot that was closed because it was 7pm on a Sunday night. She had to get her car towed and waited for hours by herself. The place that is taking care of her car said that her engine oil was rusted and old. She said that was impossible because she had just got oil changed 3 weeks prior. They told her that the servicer must have used old oil. My mother went to Dave's with her Volkswagen. read more

I took my car to Daves for a transmission rebuild. It was in their possession for over a month before I got it back. I think i only got it back then because i called everyday for a week until it was done. I picked it up and drove it around for a while since it had been sitting for so long and noticed a rattling while the car was idling. Took it to my regular mechanic and the trans mount was bad and the bolts holding it on were loose. This should have been caught and repaired/replaced before the car was returned to me so I didn't have to waste my time getting it repaired elsewhere. If notified I would have authorized the repairs. I called Daves to let him know what happened and was told that his mechanic told me about the mount ( not true as I would have never left with it like that). He offered to fix it for free (after getting offended that i was telling him about this and insulting my auto shop) but I am having my own trusted auto shop do it. I will spend the extra $200 at a place that doesn't give me the run around. I can't afford to be without my car for another 2 weeks. Buyer beware. You get what you pay for. I only have 2 stars because he offered to replace the part for free. read more

Worst mecanic in the world. Do Not recomend. They are liars and very unprofessional. I called them before taking my car there. Dave said it would take 2 to 3 days to fix it and gave me an estimate. He said "we'll fix it". I trusted him and took it there. After 4 days nobody called me so, I called them. First my call did not go through , then I called from a friends phone and the lady answered. She was in a rush and did find my car or my name. She said she was going to call me back. Then I had to call again. They had a different color and my friends name. She told me she was out of the office for 2 weeks and there were some issues. She was going to call me. I waited for another day and again, no one called me. Every time I called, they had a different story. I went there and the mecanics were not there, so I was not allowed to come in or to have any information about my car. Every day for three weeks a different story from different people. 3 weeks later finally I got my car and Dave was very rude to me , wanted me to listen to him only, he just wanted to talk and let me go. Did not wanted me to talk. He asked me several times " are you done? " like telling me to shut up. He said the car was in bad condition because I don't take care of the oil and showed me a nusty chain and parts that he said he changed. I always take it to a mecanic and buy the syntetic oil. They change it. Now finally he let me use the car. I took it home and drove 1 time and it was good. I parked it for 2 days and i drove again and the car again had the same noise and the same problem. Now it stopped. I took it again to him, and after one week no one have called me. I called them and now he said it is not what it was it is something else. That I have to go and see it. This is ridiculous. 1 month and still trying to see what it is and I asked him before if they could fix it and he said yes. The never calls and they don't know how to do the job, and they do not know how to comunicate with the clients. Rude people when they can't do the job. Even though I got a fair price on my repair, my complaint is as follows... The secretary I spoke with on the phone ( who was very nice ) told me they close at 5 o'clock and they could leave my car outside their facilities locked up with my key under the floor mat. Upon arrival which was after 5 PM, my car was sitting there with the window wide open, my GPS unit and radar detector in plain view... And my car key in the ignition. A voicemail message was left to them asking about this practice & when my wife called them back the following day the response was that he was still in the shop until 8:00 PM and that we could have knocked on the door and everything outside was on camera. I was not informed of this prior to the repair or obviously I would have knocked. There was no apology for the lack of communication & from now on I will follow Yelps reviews. read more

I have been taking my cars to Dave's for repairs for over 10 years (5 different cars). Dave and his team are extremely good at finding the problem and repairing it at the lowest price I can find anywhere in the area. They are a small family owned business, and because they are so good, and fair, they are busy all the time. I know when I take my car there, that I will need to be patient as they are always busy. If you want high touch service and pay 2x or 3x the price, go for it. I prefer to go where I trust the owner and know that they will fix my car right, and charge me a very fair price. read more

Brought my Honda in to have the transmission fluid changed. After driving the car home and parking in the garage, husband took it to work the next day and I came home to find a giant puddle of transmission fluid on the floor of the garage. My husband looked under the car at work, found that the plug for transmission fluid was loose. He hand tightened it, then I called Dave's to be told to just bring the car back, had to take off work to drop the car off. They admitted to not putting the plug back in properly, I expressed my frustration, but the guy was rude and told me to call tomorrow. Called the next day to be apologized to and told they didn't know what they could do to compensate me. Said they would call me Monday, but never heard from them. Paid for my transmission fluid change and ended up having to pay to clean up the fluid on my floor and lost my car for another day! Never would I recommend this repair shop. Horrible shop, don't know what they are doing. After I told them my brakes where bad they managed to mess it up even more. They "diagnosed" the problem. Supposedly some sensors where dirty and said they had fixed the problem. Well it wasn't, I was inches away from crashing. It took them 3 days to "fix" it, and charged me an arm and leg. I went back after the accident I almost came close to be in. One of the mechanics took a look at it again he told me to bring it back the next day and he knew what the problem was and they would fix it. After I went back I talked to Dave, he was rude and told me the mechanic I spoke to denied everything. Dave then continued to say to leave my vehicle and they would get to it when ever they could. Now why would I pay even more money when the only thing they know how to do is rip people off. Worst shop In Round Lake!!!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!!!
