    Cool T-Shirt saying
    Christine S.

Went to Dave's Hot Chicken. Loved the experience. It is decorated to celebrate Irondequoit, and Rochester which I thought was super cool. The employees were very nice, they introduced themselves to us at the counter, asked us if we had been there before. When we said no, they took their time to explain their menu. It was so refreshing to see service with a smile on E. Ridge Rd. Where the employees and managers usually seem angry, with an attitude. I hope this doesn't happen to Dave's Hot Chicken. That's what ruined Moe's were the employees, and high turn over. The employees here seemed super stoked to be working here. I loved their uniforms. Their T-shirts all have cool sayings on the back. As for the Food, I ordered the loaded fries, med heat. It was really good, I couldn't eat the whole thing. I enjoyed it. But it would have been nice to either have more Kale slaw on it, because it awesome, and it seemed like there was just a tiny bit of mine. Or if it came as a side. That would have been good too. My SO ordered the #4 Chicken sandwich, with fries. Now my SO has never liked chicken sandwiches anywhere. He loved this one. He ordered it Medium heat, he said next time he might go up a level. It was nice to him enjoy it so much. He gave me a bite, and I liked his better than my loaded fries. I thought the prices were reasonable for the area, especially since they also have vegetarian options as well. The Kale slaw was a total so for me. I'm not a coleslaw person. But Kale slaw, was the bomb! We went on 2pm on a Tuesday, it was nice, not too crowded but busy enough that you know it's good. I also loved the little machines they give you that light up when your order is ready, so you can sit and enjoy your drink while you wait. I had an orange slushy. My SO wanted a Strawberry shake, but their shake machine was not working. But the experience was so nice he didn't care. Very clean, hardworking employees, you can see the kitchen, and it was spotless. I'd would be nice to see the kitchen staff in hairnets, but my cons are so small. I didn't take any stars for it. Thanks Daves's chicken for opening on E. Ridge Rd, and hiring such happy, friendly, and clean employees. They were top notch. We will be back

Chicken is tasty, not much variety. Staff isn't friendly and the place looks dirty for a new location

The restaurant is situated in a little square, yet its plain facade hides the delicious food that awaits you inside. There is plenty of seating around the room, with a sizable section in the center that is ideal for gatherings of friends and family. Honestly, the casual, unassuming ambiance and modest decor may make you pause at first. I implore you, nevertheless, to not judge a book by its cover. Take a seat, put your order, and get ready to enjoy a filling dinner. Halal meat is a key element of the menu, which is a big plus for people who value this dietary choice. My family selected the Chicken Kabsa, but I went with the Chicken Mandi. The fact that both dishes were served hot and fresh was evidence of their quality. It takes a little while to prepare the cuisine, but the wait is definitely worth it. Be patient. While the Chicken Kabsa had the ideal balance of spices and soft chicken, the Chicken Mandi was juicy and flavorful. I added the given sauce and hot sauce to take the dish to the next level, adding an amazing depth of spice and flavor. We couldn't help but sample the Basbosa dessert after our main course. This dessert was the ideal way to cap off our meals, giving it a traditional Yemeni sweetness that left us feeling utterly content From beginning to end, the meal experience is made pleasurable by the attentive and helpful staff.

I arrived hungry and excited to try the food, especially after hearing good things about the restaurant. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to my expectations. The black beans tasted like they came straight from a can and had virtually no flavor. The chicken was tender enough, but the only flavor I could taste was salt. In fact, it was so salty that I found myself reaching for the green sauce with almost every bite just to make it enjoyable. Without the sauces, I don't think I would have finished the meal. Be prepared to drink plenty of water afterward. On the positive side, the customer service was friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The prices are definitely reasonable, and you get a good amount of food for your money. Overall, it's an affordable lunch option with great service and a clean environment, but the food itself could use more seasoning and flavor beyond salt. For that reason, I'm giving it 3 stars.

Mac and cheese rounded out the sides and I would order it again. We also ordered the fried chicken sandwich that needed not sauce or condiments. It's served on a delicious bun with pickles, lettuce and tomatoes. Excellent sandwich. I will definitely return for another delicious meal. Place is very clean too and the staff pleasant.

Putting in a couple appetizers, we opted in for the kibbeh, baba ghanouj, and manakeesh (za'atar w. cheese). The kibbeh was seasoned and fried perfectly. The baba ghanouj was creamy and accompanied with a very nice and airy pita bread, and the manakeesh was wonderful. It reminded me of a sauceless cheese pizza with the middle eastern spices. For mains, we opted in for the Mashawi which included a trio of meats. Kofta, beef kabob and chicken. All three meats were nicely seasoned, but the star meat for us was the kofta. The side of hummus was nice, and the salad was nicely seasoned even before pouring the dressing over it. Also opting in for the lamb chops, I found these to be perfectly grilled and incredibly tender. These were grilled closer to a medium-well, but still remained juicy and packed full of flavor. We found our server and the kitchen employee (perhaps the owner) to be pleasant and full of hospitality. This small-from-the-outside restaurant blew us away and we enjoyed everything we had. We look forward to returning in the near future to try other items on their menu.
