I went back to Dave's because I wanted to really enjoy my meal this time, and I'm so glad I did! I got the mild two-tender meal and when I tell you those tenders were so good--I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Juicy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. I tried them with honey and Dave's sauce, and both just made them even better. We got there around 10:59 and the guy with the glasses who opened the door was such a vibe! You could tell he loved his job and he made us feel super welcome. The kitchen staff was hustling too--nobody was just standing around. You could tell they all had the same goal: serve great food and keep things moving. Even though it was busy, there was still plenty of space to sit and enjoy our meal. Going here was a mistake and I made it twice. The first time I thought don't judge them they just opened three weeks ago they are working it out. This second time made me say nah I'm not spending my hard earned money here again. I walked in and there are two people waiting ahead of me. The place is basically empty but there is food and trash on two separate tables. I placed my order on the kiosk which great it's quick however it's right next to the line to purchase food so if more people are there we are on top of each other, very tight spot. As I waited for my food the workers are walking back and forth grabbing shakes. Instead of cleaning the tables which they stayed dirty even till I left. Which we have not got to the time I waited for my food. Mind you like I said there was two people ahead of me when I walked in and ordered. I ordered two sandwiches and fries, thats it. The two chicken sandwiches were good and I enjoyed them very much. The fries were soggy and not crispy at all. Start with mild because the heat sneaks up on you at the end. The wait was a little longer than usual, and their water dispenser was stuck running the whole time. Trying to find a positive in this experience is tall order, however let's go with the chicken itself since it was predictable, just fine. Which can be acceptable if it's backed up by decent service, speedy turnaround, and a clean environment. Dave's Chattanooga possesses NONE of these qualities. The poorly conceived layout forces all traffic (walk-ins and to-go orders to congregate and wait directly at the front counter wether they just arrived or have been waiting for 45 minutes which is also the same spot where the self serve soda machine is placed and this is all boxed in by two horribly placed dining tables that no one wants to sit at because there is zero ability to get the chairs out and even then who wants to eat with a line of peoples asses in your face? So then there is a human traffic jam at all times in a 3x5 space that is also the only way to walk from the ordering to dining area. Zero attention to customer experience here. Now back to those tables. Everyone of them that was empty was also slathered with garbage, grease and sauce. I suspect most guests had to clean theirs themselves like I did. Additionally, nothing was stocked including napkins....kinda an essential item for a chicken joint. Onto the exceptional, oh and I mean exceptional service. Ordered using the kiosk, which then the staff did not process so I had to tell them what I ordered after 15 minutes of waiting. There was one employee at the counter who appeared to be completely disinterested in helping anyone and worse untrained to do so. He proceeded to hang out in the back, perform random tasks and at one point left the place unattended for a full 10 minutes while frustrated customers were lined up. Just generally meandered around slowly, not wanting to engage with customers at all. After 30 minutes of waiting for a simple order of two sandwiches I tracked him down to ask about the wait and was met not with "I'm sorry, we are working on it" but with a blank stare and "ok". Let me be clear, this is not his fault. This is on the ownership not vetting hires better and most importantly NOT TRAINING THIER STAFF PROPERLY." I'm not expecting a Michelin rated service here but at least be able to read the room to see orders were nearly an hour behind and communicate that to people to ease the tension. The end result was a 55 minute debacle of an extremely poorly ran service, management, and procedures all housed in an essentially brand new space that already felt like it was a run down decade old dirty diner. They add. 20% gratuity on top of your order without notice and then the point of sale systems prompts you for additional gratuity before you can swipe your card. I actually believe the collection of workers there could very likely be legally retarded. They give you a buzzer device when your order is ready. However, they do not use it. I sat there for more than 30 minutes waiting for my food and then when I went in to get my food, I sat waiting five more minutes. I then asked for a refund, and learned they had put my order with the Uber Eats orders. I asked why they never used the buzzer device and they said, "I don't know".
