I'm sorry to be writing this. A once great establishment turned lifeless and overpriced. Ever since the sale things just have not been right. While the subs are still somewhat delicious, enriching else is gone. Top of the list is the chips, literally just buying the Costco value pack of mini bags of chips and charging 5 bucks for them is insane, bring back the DIRTY chips. Another is the massive reduction in menu size, removing some of my favorites. Also, $20 for a large? What is this New York City? While this location has the classic vintage feel still, many others are sterile blank spaces. The new logo is no good nor is the new catch phrase. Sad to see the decline of a once great and favorite establishment of mine. Not too late to fix however. read more

Enjoyed our visit here. Like others have said, the prices for the subs are definitely not cheap...BUT the subs are very long and enough for 2 people as a meal so they do not skimp on the ingredients. BF and I got some sort of Italian one and we were both full by the end. Our initial pickle was squished or too skinny or something and a worker replaced it immediately. The girl taking our order was very friendly as well. We ate in their small outdoor area since you can't really eat inside. No AC or fans that I remember so on hot days, it's not great to be in there. I visited Cleveland for a wedding and had to make a trip to the ORIGINAL Dave's Cosmic Subs. If I'm being honest, my younger brother insisted before I could even make the suggestion. This sandwich spot has become the measure by which my family judges all other sandwiches. The fresh, crunchy bread that has the perfect soft, fluffy inside, the way they load toppings into the sub and serve it slice up, the amazing sauce that cannot be duplicated. No matter what sandwich you order you're in for a treat! On my latest visit with my brother we noticed they have some tables outside, so we ordered sandwiches and I grabbed a couple bottles of sauce to take home to California. The staff were friendly and our sandwiches were out to us super quickly. The quality control at this store is great- they are a franchised business and while all the recipes are the same some locations do not live up to the name. The Chagrin Falls location is always on top of it. I got the Crazy Dave and it was a delicious, and messy delight. Definitely grab extra napkins for these subs. We sat at the outdoor tables right next to the business and it was a perfect early fall experience with my brother. Parking can be a bit tough in Chagrin Falls, you can find some street parking, park over by the grocery store or get lucky in some of the smaller lots (Check over by the park/library). A short walk will get you to Dave's and I highly recommend bringing your sandwich to the park to enjoy. read more

Dave's is a diamond of a place. It's worth the drive, from Chicago, lol. We almost missed this place but thankfully stayed in line. Only took 10 minutes and 3 subs later we were on our way. The bread was crunchy outside but soft and chewy inside. Perfection! Meat was fresh. I have corn beef and pastrami combo. They almost put mayo on that but I jumped in and saved it from certain ruin by subbing mustard. Phew! Nice pickle on side too. I love this place. I'm halfway across the country thinking about these sandwiches and when I can taste one again.

First time going to Dave's since last summer. Unsure what prices were then but I swear they were lower. The sandwiches here are mid but I was hungry. I was so surprised at the prices I had to check prices at my favorite neighborhood deli in Russian Hill in SF. I moved from there two years ago. It's actually $1 cheaper there for a foot long than at Dave's. And that's for a rotisserie chicken sandwich and higher quality bread. I didn't ever imagine I'd get sticker shock in CF but at $9 and $17 for a 6" and 12" sub sandwich I'm pretty sure I just made my last trip to Dave's. SF is not known for cheap food and when a comparable sandwich in Ohio is more something is off. read more

I have always loved Dave's Cosmic. There are multiple locations, but the chagrin location is my favorite. The building is decorated with psychedelic colors inside and out, and there is a lot of cool memorabilia inside. The sandwiches are on the small side, but the flavors are great and the bread puts it over the top. It a a great crusty bread that you rarely find unless you are in the Philadelphia area. This is the original location in Chagrin Falls. This is a must visit. The inside is small have a few tables and some outside. To be frank this is more of a to-go type of place. The inside is plastered with rock n roll memorabilia and some murals of late, great musical artists. The subs can be toasted or not. Most of the subs come with "Dave's Secret/Special Sauce" the bread is excellent as are the toppings. FYI the cheese is shredded probably too better melt if you toast it. They have so many combinations on the menu everyone can find something. If your in the area you must give it a try. The husband had 1# Dave's Original Sub and I tried a Roast Beef Chicken Combo both were terrific. Parking is on the street or shared lot. Come for a visit if your in the area. read more

A Dave's is a good standby for a sandwich in Cleveland. Located off the main drag of Chagrin Falls, this Dave's is nestled in a small little shop that's like Platform 9 3/4. You might miss it if you weren't looking for it. Its nice to have a fast casual stop amongst all the shopping and higher-end restaurants. After a day of shopping with a friend, I popped in to get a sandwich to-go. Immediately, I noticed that while this location has the usual Dave's classic rock decor but takes it a bit further. They have hand-painted deceased rock icons on the ceiling and a well-done portrait of John Lennon on the side of a cooler. This location is also a lot smaller than others around Cleveland, so just be prepared if you were planning to dine-in. The Dave's Famous Italian Sausage is always delicious from any Dave's - it comes with Italian sausage, Dave's sauce, tomato, provolone, herbs and crushed peppers. Its served hot - I totally recommend it if you can wait the 8-10 minutes for them to make it. Good old Dave's - always a good choice when you're on the move. read more

Really good sandwiches in a funky cool atmosphere. We got a Classic Dave and a Tuna Melt and both were delicious!

I am reporting Dave's Cosmic Subs to the Better Business Bureau. Before I go through the main problem I had with this business, let me state that the sandwiches were mediocre at best. Neither were as good as any I have gotten from Subway. One of the other reviews warned you to check your order before you left. You should check your receipt also. When the total came up on the register, we thought it was high, so we asked for the breakdown before we approved the charge. The guy at the register said he couldn't itemize it for us but told us he was sure it was right. He said he could give us a receipt "if we wanted one" after it was charged. Since we had already gotten a soda from their fountain, we completed the transaction, assuming they would make it right if it was off. Wrong. When we looked at the receipt we saw that the prices for both sandwiches were higher than the prices on their board. I asked him to refund the difference and he said that he had worked there long enough to know that wasn't going to happen. Apparently they have this argument with customers often. I asked to speak to the manager, and she said that the prices had changed, but they hadn't had time to change it on the board. I pointed out that they had time to change it on the computer. Why didn't they have time to change it on the board, which should be easier? The manager started telling me how their costs had gone up so they had to raise their prices. I told her I didn't have a problem with that, but it was the principle of the matter, and any honest business would change their price list so people would know what they are paying. And at the very least, if a customer noticed the discrepancy, the business should refund the difference. In the end, the manager refused to refund the difference, even though the prices were clearly written, and even though my receipt prices were clearly HIGHER. As I left, she laughed and sarcastically told me to have a nice day. Note that you get plenty of attitude and sarcasm along with the mediocre sandwiches and sleaziness. If at her age I was working at a dishonest business, making slightly more than minimum wage, I would be pretty angry, too. I disputed the difference between what I should have been charged and what I was charged with the credit card company and was refunded the difference. I hope others do the same and the business loses its ability to take credit card charges. Stay away from their sandwiches AND their employees. Neither are very good. read more

I stopped at Dave's Cosmic Subs for the first time yesterday. I've passed it multiple times since living here but never had the need to stop. Boy, have I been missing out! I was almost overwhelmed with the number of options for sandwiches. They also had a few different kinds of salads. The staff was polite and QUICK! I had barely finished paying before my sandwich was ready. I got "The Grateful Dave" and was very pleased with the taste, size and quality of ingredients ("Turkey, Tomatoes, Red Onions, Mayo, Dave's Cosmic Sauce, Avocado, Alfalfa Sprouts, and Hot Pepper Juice. It's a Groovy Taste Bud Treat!"). For an 8-inch sandwich I think I paid under $8. The atmosphere is overwhelming with music posters and music related paraphernalia placed everywhere. There are very few seats inside of the restaurant and I felt like it would be uncomfortable to seat a family. However, there is an amazing park within walking distance of Dave's Cosmic Subs that you could take your sub to enjoy. read more

The Chagrin Falls shack is my favorite of the Dave's locations. The staff is hilarious and incredibly friendly, and the little place itself will have you discovering something new on the walls each time you go. The only downside is that often times the sauce is pretty overpowering, which tends to mask the flavor of the other ingredients. I work in a business where clients are often in our office all day long, so we order a lot of carryout from restaurants in the area. This is another restaurant where I have tried many of the different items on the menu over the years. Another place with good veggie options. They also offer gluten free bread. Dave's has A LOT of options which can be overwhelming if you've never looked at the menu before. Seriously, everything is pretty good, but they are really into super dry bread- like cut up the roof of your mouth, but everything's so good you can't stop eating it bread. When I can't decide what to order, my go-to sandwiches are the #4 Dave's Far Out Chicken or the #15B Dave's Famous Reuben. read more

This is a great neighborhood place and I'm so glad that they're opening more up in nearby areas. First of all the atmosphere inside is like no other. It's like a blast from the past, straight out of the seventies! Hippie inspired graffiti covers the walls, tributes to great musicians can also be seen hanging inside, and even their name really invokes the era. Such a fun place to eat inside of if you have the time and the staff are always really friendly and helpful if you have any questions! Their subs live up to their name and truly are out of this world! Their selection offers something for everyone, even if you're vegan or vegetarian. My personal favorite is the classic Dave and it really is the perfect classic sun. The absolute must try however is the Dave's sauce/dressing which comes automatically on a lot of their sandwiches and is pretty much a great addition to anything! So delicious! So imagine my surprise, while unwrapping my first DCS, when a lovely, crunchy, garlic spear rolled out. Made my day. Was like catching a rare Pokemon. The place is über kitschy with a 60's hippie theme. The creator of DCS is a child of that time and it shows in the psychedelic marketing. The selection of subs is plentiful. Actually one of the DCS sandwiches was voted best sandwich in Ohio. Lofty. I ordered the Grateful Dave. My bread was tough, threw the ends away...but, the sub itself was delicious. I seriously LOVE Dave's Cosmic Subs! From the second you walk in the door, you are immersed in a hippie wonderland with colorful tie-dye and tons of memorabilia from all the great bands of the 60s and 70s. The shop is small with only 2 tables but you could spend hours looking around at the walls and the ceiling because of all the decor. Even better than the aesthetic are the subs! They are served on the freshest bread and you HAVEEE to get a sub with Dave's cosmic sauce! It is like a thick Italian dressing type sauce and it is sooo perfect on the sub! My favorite sub to get is the Turkey Dave, it has turkey breast, lettuce, tomatoes, banana peppers, Swiss cheese, herbs and of course Dave's cosmic sauce. Each sub also comes with a homemade pickle that is kind of more in the cucumber stages of pickling but I love it. I love the Dave's in Chagrin Falls, because it is the perfect food to get if you want to eat down by the falls or in the one of the nearby parks. My husband and I went to Dave's cosmic subs on mentor ave. today. Very disappointed. The bread was hard,they were as big as a hotdog bun and all 3 of our subs were not good. I ordered mine with no onions because im allergic and they still put onions on it. I wasted 25.00 on 3 hotdog bun subs. Never going again. And will never recommend it to anyone. This is the original classic Dave's location.  It is in a little mini house off Main Street in Downtown Chagrin Falls.   This location is totally GROOVY.  I would not plan to dine in, this location is too loud and too small to accommodate more than a few people.  When I do go here, I carry out and eat near the Chagrin Falls.  It's a great view with a great sandwich.   I usually order the Turkey Dave, although any sub they have is delicious.  Dave's does not have a bad sub.  Also, don't forget the dirty chips to accompany your sub.  They have excellent brownies and cookies.  However, this location does not have beer and fries like the Solon location.   The staff is friendly, and will occasionally address me as,  "dude."  It is so funny to me at my age.  I was never a "dude" even when "dude" was in fashion.  Either way, they stay true to being groovy.    Hands down this is the best sub in Chagrin Falls.   Plan an afternoon lunch to enjoy the surroundings. read more
