    Crazy Dave
    Rachel K.

I visited Cleveland for a wedding and had to make a trip to the ORIGINAL Dave's Cosmic Subs. If I'm being honest, my younger brother insisted before I could even make the suggestion. This sandwich spot has become the measure by which my family judges all other sandwiches. The fresh, crunchy bread that has the perfect soft, fluffy inside, the way they load toppings into the sub and serve it slice up, the amazing sauce that cannot be duplicated. No matter what sandwich you order you're in for a treat! On my latest visit with my brother we noticed they have some tables outside, so we ordered sandwiches and I grabbed a couple bottles of sauce to take home to California. The staff were friendly and our sandwiches were out to us super quickly. The quality control at this store is great- they are a franchised business and while all the recipes are the same some locations do not live up to the name. The Chagrin Falls location is always on top of it. I got the Crazy Dave and it was a delicious, and messy delight. Definitely grab extra napkins for these subs. We sat at the outdoor tables right next to the business and it was a perfect early fall experience with my brother. Parking can be a bit tough in Chagrin Falls, you can find some street parking, park over by the grocery store or get lucky in some of the smaller lots (Check over by the park/library). A short walk will get you to Dave's and I highly recommend bringing your sandwich to the park to enjoy.

My combo sub: corned beef/ pastrami/ slaw, etc. yum!

Dave's is a diamond of a place. It's worth the drive, from Chicago, lol. We almost missed this place but thankfully stayed in line. Only took 10 minutes and 3 subs later we were on our way. The bread was crunchy outside but soft and chewy inside. Perfection! Meat was fresh. I have corn beef and pastrami combo. They almost put mayo on that but I jumped in and saved it from certain ruin by subbing mustard. Phew! Nice pickle on side too. The Italian dressing tied the flavor profile together with the veggies and wham, great sub. Don't miss Dave's Cosmic when in the Cleveland area or anywhere within a 6 hour drive!

This is the original location in Chagrin Falls. This is a must visit. The inside is small have a few tables and some outside. To be frank this is more of a to-go type of place. The inside is plastered with rock n roll memorabilia and some murals of late, great musical artists. The subs can be toasted or not. Most of the subs come with "Dave's Secret/Special Sauce" the bread is excellent as are the toppings. FYI the cheese is shredded probably too better melt if you toast it. They have so many combinations on the menu everyone can find something. If your in the area you must give it a try. The husband had 1# Dave's Original Sub and I tried a Roast Beef Chicken Combo both were terrific. Parking is on the street or shared lot. Come for a visit if your in the area.

A Dave's is a good standby for a sandwich in Cleveland. Located off the main drag of Chagrin Falls, this Dave's is nestled in a small little shop that's like Platform 9 3/4. You might miss it if you weren't looking for it. Its nice to have a fast casual stop amongst all the shopping and higher-end restaurants. After a day of shopping with a friend, I popped in to get a sandwich to-go. Immediately, I noticed that while this location has the usual Dave's classic rock decor but takes it a bit further. They have hand-painted deceased rock icons on the ceiling and a well-done portrait of John Lennon on the side of a cooler. This location is also a lot smaller than others around Cleveland, so just be prepared if you were planning to dine-in. The Dave's Famous Italian Sausage is always delicious from any Dave's - it comes with Italian sausage, Dave's sauce, tomato, provolone, herbs and crushed peppers. Its served hot - I totally recommend it if you can wait the 8-10 minutes for them to make it. Good old Dave's - always a good choice when you're on the move.

This place is easily my favorite sub shop I have ever been to. The outside and inside are both covered in tons of colors, makes it look like you're stepping back in time to the 70s. They have a large menu divided up into their types of sandwiches. I ordered the turkey Dave which is my main go to! Everything is very reasonably priced and I recommend Dave's cosmic subs to everyone!

Amazing subs. I was expecting it to be good but it blew past my expectations. I got the Dave's tasty bacon, it was delicious and I cleaned it. Definitely worth the money and the stop by if you ever want a fresh, good sub.

Highlights: the carbonara was absolutely delicious!!! Creamy but not heavy. The peas were sweet and well seasoned. It gave me the impression the chef seasoned throughout cooking not just at the end. The chicken and waffles was also a win. Waffles were bouncy and soft, the homemade whipped cream was addicting. Chicken was crispy and moist. The spritz flight I was not a fan of. Reading the menu it made sense why it tasted more like a mimosa flight but I was expecting mint in the Hugo spritz and a things a little more elevated. At the same time it was such a good price so simple made sense but a tad too sweet for me. Next time I would rather order the spritz individually and see if it's any different. Would love to come back and have the fun again! April 2026

That all lends to a fun place to be. The service is always more than adequate. Our server last night was a very nice young man. Energetic, friendly, knowledgeable, effective. He did a great job all night. The floor manager seemed to be everywhere. Every time I looked up he was talking and laughing with customers. When I asked for something that was above our servers pay grade the manager quickly and kindly handled it with a smile. So I would definitely say the service was very good. But ... unfortunately we always end up at the same sticking point -- The food. I have never been impressed by the overall menu. The selection is limited and not very imaginative. Very limited meat and fish options. And the pasta is lacking... both in selection and quality. I ordered the "Carbonara" last night. And just like the "Cacio e Pepe" I had during my previous visit, it was lukewarm and stuck together like glue. To say the flavor was lacking would be kind. So, after several attempts, I think we're done. Which is extremely sad. With all they have going for them they could be fabulous, but alas they are not.

The space is dark and cozy and you'll forget all about the CVS outside by the time you sit down. The menu offers a nice variety of small plates, salads, sandwiches, entrees and pizzas. There are also cocktails, wine and a small but sufficient selection of beers on tap. The prices feel a couple dollars higher than you'd want them to be ($18 for a smash burger or a 12-inch pizza) but are comparable with similar restaurants in the area. My parents and I split the Medjool dates starter, Crunchy Greens salad and a mushroom pizza and all were very good and enough for all of us to enjoy (sorry, forgot to take pics). Getting a reservation was easy and convenient. I don't know why but the menu has just never excited me. It is a reasonably varied menu with a decent selection, but it's just lacking any creativity. Our server, Maia, was a very pleasant young woman who did an excellent job all evening. She was very effective and efficient. The wine list did include a good selection of excellent Italian wines by the glass. I enjoyed a very nice Amarone. I started with the "Fried Olives" which were tasty but just looked like a plate of marbles. My brother ordered the "Eggplant Meatballs" which I must say were excellent. They were tender and flavorful served in a marvelous marinara sauce... I might go so far as to say they were the highlight of the meal. I ordered the "Lamb Rigatoni" as my entree. It was good, with plenty of tender shredded lamb, but I couldn't help but wish it was covered by the marinara that was on the meatballs. My wife had the "Grilled Bronzini" which she said was very good. But somehow I was reading on her face, "it was just fish". We finished with a good cup of coffee and a scoop of very good ice cream. I can't really point to any specific disappointment. I was just underwhelmed. I wasn't motivated enough to take any pictures... sorry. I think you should give them a try and voice your opinion.
