Three years ago I went to Dave's auto repair and had Jason at Dave's auto repair shop out in a remanufactured engine, and transmission in my dad's 2004 Ford F-150 crew cab. My dad passed away in 2015. The truck stayed with my stepmother until she passed away in 2019, then my stepsister gave to me in 2022. The engine needed work, so I decided instead of getting a new vehicle, that I would make my dad's truck like new! Dave's auto repair shop was the place to do it! Jason is a genius when it comes to cars, and pick-ups. Since he replaced my engine and transmission in 2022, I only had to replace the alternator, and water pump. That truck is solid!!! I've been living in Twain Harte for nearly 5 months. I was cruising around doing errands with my 7 month old son and my dog in the car when I broke down on Tuolumne Road. Being new to the area I didn't know where to take my 08 Nissan Altima with nearly 170k miles. We ended up taking it to Dave's Auto Repair in Sonora, CA and it was the best decision. They fixed the immediate problem (the fan belt came off completely) and got it running again in a timely manner. Not to mention I hadn't had any routine maintenance done on the car, besides regular oil changes, since around 100k miles. I was informed there were a few more things that needed to be done which made complete sense. I took it back about a month later to get the other repairs done and now it drives like a dream, plus the prices are super reasonable. I had the best experience dealing with Jason and his team. I had a 2002 Ford Explorer, which had not been driven in the last three years of my Mom's life, towed into Dave's Auto Repair. The truck had been left to me and I needed to have it looked over and running well before having it hauled to MA. From our first phone conversation, Jason was a champ. His hourly shop rate was great and the customer service even better. The truck was ready a day before the hauler arrived and Jason even oversaw the truck being loaded on the car hauler. My 25 year old Mitsubishi Mighty Max started leaking coolant on my way back from dumping a load of slash. I pulled into a gas station to let it cool off and add water, but it was leaking pretty badly. So I went around the corner to Dave's and explained the problem to Jason. He wrote me up a ticket and I moved the truck in front of his shop. He called the next day with news that it was fixed temporarily, noting the part that needed replacement so I could find the best deal and a list of things that he recommended needed maintenance. I had a few issues with my car and Dave had me come in within a few minutes of my phone call, gave me a reasonable ballpark price and a thorough explanation of what the likely issue was and then I was on my way. I want to thank and commend Daves Auto and Jason for the support given me this Christmas after my car spewed oil all over HWY 108. On short notice, with plenty of work the shop, my car was repaired so could return home to Sacramento. It was not a simple fix and the underside of the car was torched from the spill and was cleaned up. I was Camping at River Ranch Campgrounds, near Tuolumne City, and my Radiator went bad. When other mechanics in the area would not even look at it, Dave diagnosed the problem near closing time, and had the new radiator in the shop before closing shop.
