I'd stay away from Primitive RV/Marine in 2023. here's my experience:…read more 14Feb requested an inspection quote for my 2017 MicroMinnie here on Yelp, declined the $499 plus $125 for 132-point inspection, Agreed to $350 for two hours of inspection notes from Ray. 07Mar appointment was at 10:00am, and when I arrived, the receptionist/desk guy did not know what type of RV I had, or what my appointment was for. Resolved the issue talking to the actual technicians and got some good info. Left travel trailer there and was told by the end of the week (4 business days) I would get inspected and then get the results that following Monday. 11Mar nothing heard all week, so I messaged on Yelp asking for an update. Was told Monday I'd get a call with info. 14Mar messaged again saying I hadn't heard back Monday or Tuesday. Was told there was a delay for pricing some parts and many employees didn't come to work. Will get the inspection report ASAP. "this isn't our usual experience, apologies" 15Mar again was told I would get the info by the end of the day. 16Mar I messaged again, asking what was going on. Was told the next morning my RV would be the first priority. 17Mar got a voicemail about the results, and 11:35am got a DocuSign via email with a $3,500 Work Order request. I chose to pick-up Monday morning to get another quote from another technician, since my travel trailer is a 2017 and only has 8,000 miles, mostly stored in the shade by an older couple before i bought it. 18Mar I asked if 11am was less chaotic for pick-up on Monday, but I never got a text back. 20Mar asked Monday at 10:00am again if 11:00am would work. Picked-up trailer and after my credit card was charged, it was $364 instead of the agreed no-tax $350. it truly was the icing on the cake; getting charged a fee (credit card fee? not sure, since it was never brought-up, and i later saw it on the receipt). Ray/Timothy at the end of all of this did not even offer to help me exit the packed parking area, unsurprisingly. He just acted like this was how it was, industry-wide. Because of all the clusterf***, I asked for a discount on the bad experience, and Ray/Timothy said it wasn't possible and made many excuses. I mentioned that competitor Top Notch RV does a complimentary lube while the wheels/hubs are already off: "a pre trip inspection is $278. That's 2 hours for me to go over your entire electrical system, appliances, plumbing, perform a gas leak test, roof inspection and do a general once over of your entire trailer. If you would like your bearings re-packed and brakes cleaned and adjusted which I highly recommend being done every year especially if you're going on a big trip it's $350" Primitive could easily clean/pack the bearings and clean/adjust the brakes while the hubs are off during the inspection, but i'm not sure even the $500 "Full Inspection" includes this. Mostly, I feel taken advantage of because I was super lenient and accommodating, but basically I paid $364 for my camper to be gone for almost 2 weeks, and for the techs to tell me that the tires and brakes are totally bad and unsafe. I took the camper to my local tire shop (Ron's in Tempe AZ) and they had the bearings and brakes cleaned/adjusted/lubed within a day for $250 total, and said the date of the tires and brakes isn't the only metric for safety (my tires aren't dry-rotted at all, but Primitive wanted to charge me for 4 new tires and 4 new brake hubs with parts costs double of what their competitor Top Notch quoted me. Also of note, Primitive RV doesn't have any certified/master RVIA/etc. technicians. Ray/Timothy claimed this was because people who are certified inspectors can't do the actual repairs after an inspection. This seems strange, since all the other companies around Phoenix quoted me for both inspections and repairs. I think he was trying to use some word trickery about when using RV comprehensive insurance, but I wasn't using insurance. 2/5 stars, would not do business with them again. I'll be leaving this review on other sites as well, which I rarely do (want to prevent other people from getting poor customer service and wasted time). Super let-down. I blocked Ray/Timothy here on Yelp, but I'm sure he/Primitive will post the usual excuses below this when my review hits. My guess is there will be something about being "a little confused" about my bad review, since I declined the full inspection (this is irrelevant to my argument about customer service and fraudulent attempts to fleece me out of new brakes and tires for no reason). He'll probably claim the tires are from 2015 and the brakes are from 2016, which according to some publication are 'unsafe' (yet my local shop said there's no dry-rot and they are fine for another year with tons of tread/pads). I'm sure he'll claim they went "above and beyond" to make sure I got what I needed, and they gave me lots of good info (this is also irrelevant to my complaints of double-priced parts and 13 days).

The quality and timeliness of the work were good, but the company's accountability and customer…read moreservice were disappointing. While my RV was being serviced, the battery disconnect switch was left in the "on" position, which caused the battery to die. Mistakes happen, and I understand that. One employee even apologized and acknowledged that the switch should have been turned off. However, the service advisor made no effort to correct the issue after it was confirmed that the battery would no longer hold a charge. Instead, she offered to sell me a replacement battery and still charge me labor for the installation. She also stated that I was lucky she was not charging me simply to test the battery, because according to her, the company charges for everything -- even basic battery testing. We spent a lot of money on our repairs so it is really disappointing that they could not offer any solutions for their mistake. In the end, it is not right that they made the mistake of leaving the switch on, and I was expected to pay the full cost of a battery and the "labor" to fix it. (For those that are wondering, the batteries health and performance were great when I brought it in). In the end, the experience left me with little confidence in the company's accountability or commitment to customer service.

We recently took our RV to The RV Guy in Avondale because our leveling system decided it no longer…read morewanted to level. After some investigating, they discovered the issue was bad O-rings. They replaced them, and at first, it seemed like everything was fixed. Unfortunately, the fix only lasted one use before the system went right back to not working. After waiting three weeks just to get into the shop, it's really frustrating to be back at square one so quickly. On the positive side, the staff was friendly, straightforward, and didn't try to upsell us on things we didn't need. Once our RV was in the shop, the turnaround was quick. But at the end of the day, what matters most is whether the repair holds, and in our case, it didn't. Bottom line: nice people, but our repair failed immediately, and that's not what you hope for when you trust a shop with your RV.

DANGER!! STAY AWAY!! I unfortunately paid them $7,400 to…read moreinstall solar on my Class B motorhome which is my primary residence. They put high voltage unprotected live wires through the sharp metal frame of the motorhome above my gas tank. Super dangerous!! See photo below! No fuses for the DC to DC charger or solar charger. Insufficient breakers No emergency shut off. Multiple equipment and parts shorted within 2 days of install including the Victron 2000va inverter. This happened as I was leaving to New York for a contracted nursing job. When I discussed this with them and asked for a partial or full refund, Eric the owner said I was being a "pain in their ass." But he eventually offered to remedy the situation by paying for repairs and the install of new parts. Eric said he wouldn't do a full refund but promised to give some financial reimbursement to me for the inconveniences. They referred me to a specialist 5 hours out of my way across the country That Specialist was astonished by the gross negligence of the original install. When he brought up his safety concerns to RV Master Techs attention they ridiculed him for being "unprofessional" for telling me the true extent of their dangerous install. It took 20 hours of work to fix the damages they did and re-install a working safe system. I ended up missing my first day of work because of it. Repairs costed $4800 and they are now refusing to pay the full bill. It has fallen on me to pay it. They also have never given me any financial reimbursement as promised. To add insult to injury, when rv master techs did the solar install, I had them repair my furnace at that time too. They charged me $560 for the furnace which stopped working 2 weeks after their "diagnosing and repair"

Honestly, I couldn't have been happier with the service. This establishment is a complete…read moreone-stop-shop. I came to Mike in a bit of a pickle. The frame on my 41' 2015 Winnebago was completely falling apart! Structural damage, exterior body coming apart, interior floor separation from the walls, sheet metal siding flapping in the wind(no exaggeration). All due to the structural damage that occured. She was in bad shape. Pin box was toast. Plus my upper deck pop out was completely jagged and not shutting correctly Mike is as busy as any other place around (don't believe me? Call around. Most places are either months out or just plain not accepting new clients, especially with as big of a job as I had). Mike and his wife Bridget saved our RV. The best part? He completed it before my due date! He finished it in just under two weeks!! And I'm talking full on grinding, welding, metal fabrication, reenforced plate welding, fiberglass pannels being replaced, exterior molding replaced, jockybox door to my generator being replace and my upper pop out being aligned and sealing properly. BEFORE ESTIMATED TIME! This is how you create customers for life. I will be towing my RV from Cotati, CA to CopperState RV if I have any major repairs in the future. All of the local guys in Sonoma county, CA are either booked or not up to par. It's worth the trip to get quality service done.
