I was very fortunate to…read morehave discovered the doggie daycare / boarding facility " Hounds Town" Now, that I had retired and re located to Chesapeake, VA we quickly realized that if we were to go on long trips, we would need to find a place for our dogs to stay. We are so grateful to have discovered that a new Hounds Town located in Newport News, VA. It's just short of an hours drive for us but we wouldn't trust just anyone to care for our furry children. All of the dogs staying at Hounds Town are generally separated by size and are in large open pens where they socialize and play. They have smaller private rooms for feeding and for overnight stays. My oldest dog is 12 years old and has started showing the early stages of arthritis. The owner of Hounds Town of Newport News, Dave, was so compassionate and had a nice sized throw rug placed in his room to assist my dog in getting up after laying down. My dogs love coming here to play with the other dogs. The groomers here clipped their nails and washed and dried them before when arrived to pick them up. It's a common for pets that do stay here often sleep at home restfully , what has become known as " The Hounds Town Coma". The staff here go above and beyond to make sure that your pet is well taken cared for be it for daycare or several overnight stays.

He loves the staff and is always excites when we tell him it's a school day. Dave and his staff are always doing fun things for the pups and kitties in their care. And they give us feedback on behavior, positive as well as constructive criticism. When we've told them what we're working with Oliver on behavior-wise, they have been supportive and have reinforced our efforts. I can't speak highly enough of Hounds Town Newport News. We feel secure knowing Oliver is safe and happy when he's with them.

Brought our dog in with pain in his paw that he woke up with. They examined him away from us and took blood for a 4DX test which is questionably need for a soft tissue problem along with a CBC & superchem tests. I will say they explained the costs up front to my husband. Sent home with a comment of; "we can not confirm cause of limping without radiograph diagnosis "; and pain pills, but no shot for immediate relief. They did say we could get xrays at that time for another $200 plus. After watching our dog in pain, my husband got him to our vet ( who is an hour away),the next day. Our vet was in surgery the initial treatment day and had no way of getting him in. He was given a shot, pills to start in two weeks if he shows any limping at that time. Diagnosis: Soft tissue hyperextension in left wrist. Total charges $125. Total charges at Smithfield $363. with no basic diagnosis. He is no longer in pain after the 2nd day of treatment by our vet. Make your own decision as to what you may want to do. There seems to be some good reviews for them, but...........

Kimchi is easy going, and though would have no problem being boarded in a kennel, being able to stay in someone's home was the best experience. We did a meet and greet and felt completely comfortable leaving our baby with Paw Addicts for the week. We received frequent updates (with pictures like this one!) on how she was doing. They paid special attention to her knee as she is still recovering from knee surgery. Upon picking her up, she was soft and clean as they gave her a bath and washed her bedding. Julia, her family, and their cute pup Bruce did an amazing job making Kimchi feel at home and cared for. Paw Addicts will be the first place I'll reach out to, and highly recommend!

I'm not sure just how recent this all will be still but this was my experience there. Many dogs up to 6 or 10 will be in one kennel area for the entire day. They do not watch the areas/have someone attending to watch at all times. There are dog fights daily there and they WILL NOT TELL YOU that your dog got into a fight. Inspect your dog DAILY if you do go with this place. The hiring/assistant manager the time KICKED AND THREW the dogs into the kennels when he would open the door. Simply saying "it doesn't hurt them it's fine." and one dog got out and he kicked it so bad it urinated everywhere out of FEAR. Needless to say he made me clean it up after I was done crying in the bathroom. Next day i quit and told the owner at the time. They have cameras there so the owner definitely SEES it but doesn't seem to care. Be wary of this place. Many people on indeed and here will tell you the same things. Please do extreme research here on reviews as it will show you the truth.
