I had a recent appointment with Becky to have my senior dog groomed. We had made special arrangements so that he would receive extra care due to his age. However, when I picked my dog up, he was unable to stand or walk. He was drooling and panting. He fell onto the floor at Preppie Pooch and the groomer and another employee had to pick him up. I had to carry my 86 pound dog into the house. I thought that after he rested he would be OK. My dog was unable to stand or walk for 24 hours after his grooming. I called Preppie Pooch 4 hours after we got home from there with my dog to inquire what had happened to him, thinking he may have suffered a stroke. I asked to speak to Becky and I was informed that Becky was no longer there!!! What inexperienced imbecile groomed my dog??? Why did they not recognize any signs that my dog was in distress???
It took a lot of pain medication and 3 days of recovery before my dog could start standing and walking OK. I have emailed the "new" owner, John Bernhardt to express my dissatisfaction. I have had NO RESPONSE from him.
Please DO NOT take your dog here!!! This was a first class place when Becky was the owner and groomer. Becky WAS Preppie Pooch! People need to be aware that Becky is no longer there and the current staff is inexperienced.
I hope no other pet owner has to go through the horrific experience that my poor dog and I went through.
RESPONSE TO THE OWNER'S COMMENTS BELOW: My dog is not 15yrs old. When I brough him in you asked me how old he was and I told you 10yrs old and you said that was how old your dog was too. My dog walked around the waiting room and greeted you and the front desk person. I never said that I have to give him a "handful of pills". Seriously, who gives their pets "handfuls of pills"? My dog gets 50mg of Rimadyl once aday, which is a very low dose for a dog of 86 pounds. He is active and goes for walks around the neighborhood 4-5 times a week. Yes, I told you and the front desk person that he likes to lay down, and after I bathe him at home, he will lay down when I brush him and dry him.
Yes, I have been very emotional because I was very afraid when I saw that my dog could not stand or walk, and was drooling and panting. I have never, ever seen him like that before. My vet advised me to give him 100mg of Rimadyl 2x a day following this incident. It took 3 days of that dose to get my dog back to normal, and thank God he is ok now.
You never offered to give me a refund for the grooming; however, it would be the right thing to do.
I never spammed your Facebook page. I wrote that I was sad to learn that Becky was gone and if anybody knew where she went, please message me. You deleted my post. Somebody else posted on your FB page asking where Becky went. By this time I had found out where she was, so I replied that she was now at Doggstuff. You deleted my post and the other person's post, and then blocked me from posting on your FB page.
It is very unfortunate that this had to happen. You need to tell your customers that another groomer will be handling their dog to avoid future situations like this.
You DID NOT see me when I picked up my dog, so you did not see him fall on the floor, struggling to walk, panting and drooling.
You did not respond to my email earlier this week, yet you are able to respond to this review.
You may contact me regarding my refund as you stated in your comment below. read more
