Smart if you call around. I called them for a quote on a expensive but routine job. They inflated the total job for labor by about 4 hours. I know this because I have a friend in Utah that has Mitchell 1 which is a very common labor rate guide that many shops use. Shop around there are honest shops out there you just have to look! Ask to see their labor guide..Yes, a car shop should be able to show you their labor guide, which is software like Mitchell 1 outlining the time required to complete various car repairs, allowing you to understand how they calculate the labor cost for your specific repair job. If they will not show you RUN! Google this Overestimating repair time: This is a common tactic where a shop might claim a repair will take significantly longer than it actually should, leading to a higher overall cost for the customer.! read more

Value Going to a car garage is rarely good and often expensive as I was recently reminded. Too often I've walked away feeling taken advantage of. Darla, Dan, Josh, Gene, all worked to make sure I understood what was needed and why. Dan was VERY transparent with pricing (often offering to show invoices) and made suggestions that could cost him a short term monetary win. I wanted a/c installed in my 69 Cougar. I checked around & met Dan the owner at another shop & started talking to him about some issues I was having with my car. I decided to try his shop out & they did a great job. They even went so far as take a phone call from Summit Racing customer service who I bought my a/c system & tell them in detail what power steering bracket I needed for my car. I also like the fact that they allow customers to bring in their own parts. And they also let me to go into the shop area while my car was being worked on. Overall, they did a great job & it was nice to finally be able to drive the car long distance this past summer with the windows up & the a/c on. read more

I had my wheel bearing replace not even 2 years ago, it's still under warranty. I went in, because I believe it's going out again, making same sound and same side . I asked if there was a charge JUST TO CHECK THE BEARING. $120 an hour, then I asked how long would it take... he couldn't give me an answer. in the off chance I was wrong, it could run into a couple hundred dollars. when I called other mechanics they said it would take 30 min and only charge me $50... and I asked these mechanics if for some reason it mess up in that warranty how much to check. they ALL said they wouldn't charge me because it has a warranty. they were deff trying rip me off and I WILL NEVER RETURN OR REFER ANYONE there. I was informed there's a lot complaints about that shop. I'd advice going elsewhere. Something breaks with a warranty and your still paying!!! read more

Went to these guys to get my transmission work on. They where supposed to reseal it. Still leaks, from everywhere it can.

One star is the least allowed on Yelp. Stay away from this crook and you we be much better served elsewhere. The other review is typical of the business practice "gimmicks" that this place uses. You can take a car there and tell them I need a xyz replaced and they will still charge a diagnostic FEE to tell you you need a new xyz. If you need a check engine code, stop by a auto parts store that will read it free. The owner also tricked the City of Lansing when building when he failed to complete the proposed plan to gain their approval. read more

I took my car in to get an alignment, once it was done, I took it home and noticed a noise that was not being made before I took it to Dasher Garage, once I got home I called them and explained the situation I made an appointment a few days later. After my appointment the owner explained to my that the noise was a loose heat shield around my transmission which is total BS, the noise is obviously coming from the suspension and it only makes the noise when my cab shifts. Once they were finished with my car the owner told me "I'm not going to charge you this time." Then went on to tell me I had something wrong with my rear brakes. I'm a mechanic and he obviously is just trying to make a buck off of people. The only reason I took my car to this shop is because I don't have the equipment to do alignments. My car is still making the noises from the suspension and I'm done dealing with this crook and I'm going to take it to someone who knows what they are doing, I would suggest platinum automotive LLC. Another thing, the service techs there do not treat the cars right, they will shift between drive and reverse while the car is still moving in the opposite direction and they'll slam on the brakes. Don't take your car here they don't care about their customers and their work is horrible all the want to do is scam you and make a dollar off of you. read more

NEVER go to this garage! They say they are Christians, but the Christians I know do NOT treat people like this. They even treat their own staff like they're "below them". If you need tires, GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE. I asked for an oil change as well. When they didn't do it, they told me I "never asked for one" and when asking them why they didn't rotate the tires or even offer to do it, they responded, "ma'm I've been doing this for for 50 years and I've never asked the customer that, it's their responsibility to have the tires rotated, now I can rotate them since your'e asking about it, but it'll be another fee involved. Not only did they not rotate, they even tried to get me to "fix other issues they found with my car." These are devious and untruthful people. read more

Well It's actually all quite strange. My husband took his 1000$ car there. It had been overheating. After two days they call back and said 600$ to fix it. We agreed because it was paid off and still running decent. A whole day later they called and said we needed to come in. They told us it was now 1400 but only after the preformed the 600$ worth of work. Ironically the "new issue" was directly next to the problem they were correcting. Why wouldn't they have noticed the additional charge before they performed the original work. The car wasn't worth 1400$ so we just said don't do it. Then they said it might or might not run if we don't do 1400$ which is weird because it ran when we got there. Long story short my husband asked if what was his best option financially to do. The options they gave were. Pay them 600$ for a car that might not be fixed, or $300 for the car not put back together, or for 200$ and the title they would just keep it and junk it. He felt pressured that was the best idea. Next day turns out a mechanic bought the car from mechanic shop owner to give to his sister. We sent my husbands brother in to get all our belongings out. He refused to let him check the vehicle to make sure everything was out, cd's , paperwork, pictures, ect. We have no idea if everything is out or not. GO ANYWHERE BUT HERE! Made the mistake of taking my car here for an estimate this morning. The receptionist Kevin is a total douche!! He left out certain details while having me sign paperwork before getting my estimate, leaving out the fact that on the receipt even though it says $0.00, it's not in fact true. A good receptionist would have made sure I knew for sure that there in fact would be a fee, and mine ended up being $82.95!! I for sure thought estimates were free or a lower fee than that!! Meanwhile I have to call my mom and interrupt her at work, She said Noooo why would you take it to those thieves?! I told you go to Marshall's garage! I put her on the phone with Kevin. She spoke with him and was asking did he let me know there would be a charge.. he preceded to make a smug, rude ass comment saying ," well she didn't know she was supposed to go to Marshall's, so maybe she misunderstood me!" Also if I knew I had to pay for an estimate, I wouldn't have waited an hour and a half. I would've left and not had $82.95 stolen from me today! read more

My daughter-in-law recently had a flat tire with 2 young children in the car. Dasher Garage was the closest place for some help. Mr. Asher and his crew were absolutely superb! When I arrived Mr. Asher took time to explain what had happened to the tire, what his mechanic was doing to fix it and assessed the safety of continuing on that tire with a repair. I was all set to buy a new set of tires just to protect my grandchildren from Dasher. Mr. Dasher was very honest and told me that I did not need new tires, passing up a sale. I was quite impressed! Most places would not think twice about selling you something you do not need. What a great local businessman! read more

This is hands down the worst shop to take your vehicle to within 50 miles. Unfortunately I have a device in my vehicle that requires servicing every 2 mo by them and every two months they remind me why I feel this way. I've worked in the automotive industry for years now and have seen many dishonest and unethical people. It seems that they have compiled the worst of them and have them working here. The owner himself is someone who cannot be talked to. I've never been treated more rudely or unethically in my life than I was today. I strongly caution and warn you not to bring your business and your hard earned money onto their lot. Took my vehicle into a dealer and got ripped off and the problem was still there after they attempted numerous things to fix. Took it to Dasher and they fixed it in 1 day for a fraction of the cost I was charged at the dealer. Dasher guys showed me the problem and offered me a ride home while it was fixed. I took my vehicle here when I was having a misfire code occurring. My husband had used this garage before with good results. When they called to tell me my car was ready they explained that the only way to diagnose the problem was to put the new parts on and since that was successful the car was ready. My total bill was approximately $450. I asked how much it would be to remove the new parts since those could be fixed at home. I expected to be charged for the diagnosic. The owner told me that he would have to charge me another round of labor so it would only be about a $100 less. Knowing that there was no way I could get the vehicle back and the parts for that price I paid the bill. I think it is completely unethical to charge for the diagnosis and labor since the labor IS the diagnostic in this case plus charging me for additional labor when asked to remove. Most garages shouldn't even do the repairs without approval first anyway. My husband spoke to the owner about this issue and the owner told him that I must have "misunderstood" and that he "gets this all the time when dealing with husbands and wives". I will never go here again. The unethical billing practice plus how he treated my husband and I was unacceptable. I had spoke to my family and other people that had used this business after the fact and all expressed horror that I used them and proceeded to tell me their stories. i took my car to Dashers and thought they were great people and didn't rip u off...but i was surprised to find out they don't stand behind they're work. Very disappointed...my Aunt gave a 5,000 dollar that was in great condition that had a problem with the crank pulley we didn't know it would cost so much but took it in at first noise cause she wanted to make sure everything was good. well not the crank pulley ...so told Dashers that we could get it done right now but they had broke a screw in it trying to get it off. Not my fault don't know to take off crank pulley ....but they had to order another screw to fit it. We waiting 3 to 5 days to get the car back with pulley back on. 2 yrs later..sat. 7/9/2016 i had my alternator changed and the belt wouldn't stay on. omg the guy did it 3 or 4 times and it kept falling off,because he said there was a screw was sticking out and he could get it to unscrew...he said it looked like it was jimmied....just depleted my account on a fixed income now and now No Car ...had to get it towed and the car shop looked at it and said there was a screw broke in the pulley and it looked jimmied....can't believe this i worked so hard to get transportation in order and Now without a Car....tow and now services i can't pay because couldn't take it to them N E Way...they aren't open on weekends i was in kc and waited until monday but they had no tow to get it and now with No money...Omg Very Unsatisfied and still working on getting it... read more
