I am a huge fan of Austrian food and wine and knew about this place a few years ago and, been…read moremeaning to try it since. As the online booking here is relatively full we decided to book weeks ahead and as it turned out, at least 3 tables were empty in a restaurant that seats about 30 people. I don't know if this is a deliberate strategy or, they had a few cancellations. I also confirmed after our visit last night that being in the top 2 restaurants in Munich on TripAdvisor also means nothing as, the food here was not worth it. For the money I can and have eaten in far better places in town. The menu here is 5 or 6 courses and the selection is very limited unless you organise it ahead of time. There was only 6 courses listed and that was it. The wine list is extensive and has mostly Austrian wine and some small selection of wines from Germany and Südtirol. But disappointing that the first two wines we selected were both out and the replacement recommendation was corked and had to open another one. I enjoyed the wines here. The table service is friendly and warm and there are a lot of staff to service the small restaurant. It was a ratio of 5 customers to one staff member. The food arrived and I must admit I was relatively unimpressed. The courses were small, the flavour on many of the dishes was ordinary and outside of the Spargel and Loup de mer I did not enjoy the other dishes as much. Those two dishes were great. The dessert was quite disappointing. Be prepared to spend a lot of money here compared to many restaurants in Munich and on average, the prices here are 2-3 times more than some of the decent places in town. For multi course menus they are also at the premium end of non starred restaurants. The ambience is very nice and simple and staff are friendly. I would not come back here again as, the value for money is lacking. If I compare it to other gourmet restaurants I have been to, this place has a long way to go. I would come back here for some decent Austrian wine but that's about it. Luckily they also have a wine shop attached to the restaurant.

The first course was a foie gras platter with some sweet bits that complimented the foie gras. The second course was an amazing chestnut soup. I would never have thought chestnut soup could be something delicious, but Pfistermühle completely proved me wrong. Third course was a baked fish dish wrapped in pastry of some kind. It was good, but not my favorite. The 4th course was a raspberry sorbet palate cleanser. 5th course was a delicious prime rib. The 6th and final course was a dessert course, a mouse pastry. It wasn't the most amazing thing, but it was tasty. The table next to us had brought their dog with them and he was so cute and well behaved. He just sat under their table the whole time with a little bowl of water. I thought it was really cool how the restaurant would let them bring their dog.

The food portions were small, but flavorful, with the exception of the beef filet. It was under seasoned and hubby's was overcooked. The people seated next to us experienced the same issue. We felt the meal was overpriced for the experience. They did have a good wine selection. We ordered a bottle and didn't opt for the wine pairing which also seemed to be overpriced for the selections. There weren't many places open on Christmas Eve, so I give them 4 stars for the entire effort.

It's a beautiful building located in the middle of one of the nicest parks in Munich and, has tons of outdoor space and facilities for events. This particular restaurant however, seems to have bucked the trend and has been around for a while now. Initially there were two restaurants but, now there is one. The pizza / Italian place shut down recently (not sure permanently or not) and, I am not really surprised about that. This place however seems of attract a lot of locals and, it was packed last night when we got there, around 8pm. It's an Austrian restaurant and there is a self service Biergarten there as well. I have not eaten in the Austrian restaurant so cannot comment on the food but, it looks good. Will update my review, after I have had a chance to eat there. I have been to the self service Biergarten a couple of times and quite like it. They serve Augustiner bier here (one of my favourite Munich brewers) and there is a food counter also. The food counter has normal Biergarten food choice like sausages, wurstsalat and there is a counter that makes Flamkuchen or alpine pizza. The food is quite ok here and I quite like the Biergarten food. The atmosphere is lovely and I love the park itself. We come here often with the dog, as he loves this park. I will definitely come back here again and try the proper restaurant menu. It's close to where we live and an area we often frequent. A nice and quiet part of the city.

I'm glad I had the opportunity to dine in this beautiful 150 year old restaurant. My review comes after its closure but it serves to honor the restaurant in hosting my visit. The Building is amazing where the walls and ceilings act as palettes for beautiful painted art. Stepping into the restaurant feel as if one is stepping through a time portal where one feels they are dining 151 years ago which is how old the building is. The ambiance is quite lively and energetic. Although the highlight is the space, the food is also very good. Their pretzels are served warm and fresh with a firm exterior and an interior that melts as it enters one's mouth. The soup is flavorful and healthy with not even a drop of oil pooling to the top. The schnitzel is as tender as it gets. The servers were knowledgeable and fast but it is always so busy that the restaurant should consider increasing staff as to improve customer service. Perfect location right in the heart of Marienplatz where the Glockenspiel is a stone's throw away. Overall, a wonderful restaurant to dine with great food and a beautifully historic setting!

The food was delicious, homemade, and so much comfort food. We ordered a sausage sampler, goulash, and spatzle, all of which I have no critique for. Just damn good food all around. The service was great. They were slammed so it was a little difficult getting the check, but not too bad still. All in all, I would highly recommend if you are looking for an authentic Bavarian experience and want to know how the Serfs lived back in the day.
