Have been twice this week. You will not be disappointed. Food was superb. Service was exceptional! Couldn't find the other food photo

Great ambience because authentically German, food is authentic but not a standout - not any different than Haifbrahaus. Service: can I give 0 stars!!! Slow inattentive horrible service ‍

The Löwenbräukeller beer hall and brewery is fun to visit during normal times but during Octoberfest they are the main location for the Weisn pre-party and during Weisn they host the "WIESNZELT" at Stiglmaierplatz which is clubbing and the main "After Oktoberfest Party." When the tents at Oktoberfest are already closing the party is just getting started at the "Wiesnzelt" with celebrations in the Löwenbräukeller with three different clubbing areas: the big clubbing area, the relaxing terrace outside and the cozy "Turmstüberl" ("tower-room"). Starting at 10 pm - without closing time! This past Octoberfest the "Wiesnzelt" at Stiglmaierplatz went from 20th September to 5th October 2019. There are three ticket levels with standing room only, table reservations and VIP tickets. I went for the pre-party night with a table reservation and it delivered on their guaranteed beer tent party atmosphere with Oktoberfest beer, Bavarian delicacies and the greatest hits of the cult band Bergluft (formerly known as "Barfuss"). The food, beer, music and experience certainly provided a fun time for all.

Löwenbräukeller was the second beer hall that we visited on our recent trip to Munich. With a reservation set at 7:30 PM for Augustiner Keller, followed by a 10:15 PM reservation at Löwenbräukeller, this was our second stop of the night on our first night in Germany. These two spots are decently close to each other, so if planning a trip, know that you could easily walk from one to the other, and do both on the same night without taking a taxi. Although these beer halls are quite large, I highly recommend making reservations a month or two in advance, especially if you are visiting during Oktoberfest like we were. Our party of 6 was able to walk right in and sit at a prime table in front of a traditional band that was playing. Table service was quick and efficient. We ordered a second Mass of beer (33.8 ounces/1 liter) here, and I ordered a second round of spatzle, in hopes of finding one a bit less salty. Overall, the atmosphere was pretty fun. This beer hall definitely felt very traditional and classic. The spatzle was far better than the one I had earlier at Augustiner Keller, and was actually very, very delicious. Along with Augustiner, Löwenbräukeller is one of Munich's "Big 6" breweries, making this place a must stop on your beer crawl through Munich. While the atmosphere wasn't as fun as Augustiner Keller, we still enjoyed ourselves and felt like this place was worthwhile. Go ahead and check it out for yourself!

I went with a large group. The staff was great. The restaurant was clean. The food was ok, but it wasn't something I would order. We pre ordered with our group. The dessert was good. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who plans to visit Munich!

The beer hall or restaurant is an easy stop to start or end your trip to Munich (or any other time). It's close to the main station (hauptbanhof ), just north and not in the touristy areas as many of the other beer halls. The building is beautiful and you can tell old, though it is not as big as some of the others. They have a restaurant, large beer hall and also have a great beer garden outside. We ate at the restaurant as it wasn't busy and the beer hall was not open. The food is transitional German items and everything we had was good. We ordered the Löwen burger (pulled pork burger), the Schwabenpfand'l (pork medallions on spatzel with a cheesy/creamy sauce with mushrooms in it), Bavarian meatballs, potato salad with cucumbers, and the crackling roast pork with potato dumplings. All were very large potions, especially the schwabenpfand'l which everyone had some and there were still leftovers. The sauces on the pork & meatballs was delicious. We also enjoyed the cucumbers & dill in the traditional vinegar based potato salad. The beers were tasty though some you can only order in liters. We were hoping to try dessert but were too full from the food and beer.

1 liter of their strongest, Triumphator (7.6% abv)

Tourist friendly (English menus available and servers seem to speak enough English to understand), beers by the liter if you must, and even an outdoor beer garden if you so please... I can only imagine how lit this place gets during Oktoberfest. Last of our stops while in Germany, and a solid one if you're looking for that beer hall and traditional fare experience. Ended up doing a full order of the crispy pork knuckle served with side of potato dumpling and sauerkraut in rich and hearty broth. Ooo wee that was good and plenty for two to share. For beer, I tried their Löwenbräu Triumphator which is 7.6% abv... let's just say I was feeling it toward the end. No live music going on the relatively quite Sunday afternoon we had visited, but all in all a solid experience. Service as with most places we visited in Munich was relatively minimal and slow. Kind of a standard thing as we learned from some family we had living out there. Also, their English menus don't contain all items as their German menu, but we whipped out google translate to see some of the differences which were relatively minor. Also, free wifi if you need it. Cell phone data speeds out in Germany aren't quite as fast as they are in the US. That's all I got on this one. 'Til next time, cheers! 207/365

This restaurant was highly recommended on my "Find Me Gluten Free" app and it was 100% the right move! My family and I visited some museums then found ourselves famished. After looking into Löwenbräukeller, we were sold on positive reviews. We were struck by the beauty of the building as we approached and immediately bee-lined to the bier garten. We were quickly seated and had a fantastic view of the place. Our waiter, Omar, spoke English extremely well and was an absolute pleasure to have as a server. He made honest recommendations and reassured my GF choices (even though the menu was very well labeled). After a few refreshing gin and tonics, we ordered our meals. I ordered the smoked salmon salad along with a potato with sour cream. I don't know what their farmers do over there, but this was no ordinary potato; it was SO flavorful and tender. The smoked salmon was to die for and my plate was spotless. The portions were impeccable and the salmon salad seemed never-ending. 10/10 recommend this legendary establishment that is also one of the manufacturing locations for Löwenbräu beer!

Really cool place to be honest. But food was average, service was terrible. We stopped by for a quick dinner on a rainy evening. People who work there clearly did not care. One server (also the lady who initially sat us) literally took the menu away from me while I was looking at it and deciding what to order. Another server moved us to another table with a stranger and did not explain why. There were a lot of empty tables. He was not happy that we only ordered one round of drinks. So by the time we were paying, he already had two more customers standing right behind us waiting for our table. Again, not on a busy night. We have never been to a restaurant that made you want to leave right away. My husband joked that this was a soul crushing experience.

Went here last night in Munich, with close good friends and colleagues. What can I say about beer halls, where I have not done anything but enjoyed in the libations. It did have a pilsner that was fantastic, and nothing like the Lowenbrau I was used to in the states. Otherwise, it was a very nice open hall, with no fuss. Considering I didn't try any food, I'll leave it at that, with the photo of good friends.

We stopped here on the ways back from a day trip to Nymphenburg. I couldn't help but notice it on the way and nothing sounded better then a quick beer stop before heading back to the Aldstadt. This place is definitely no frills. I ordered the obtzda cheese to pair with a Helles and what a good decision that turned out to be. The beer was good, but not my favorite of the breweries that I visited including: Augustiner-Keller, Hofbrauhaus, and Schnieder Weisse. The problems then started when I tried to flag down the server to request another pretzel be deliver to my table so that I could appreciate the cheese in all of its glory. To say the least, the waiter did not like it at all and served all the other tables TWICE before whisking my leftovers away. To be fair, as Americans we've got to be a bit more obnoxious to the locals in terms of our service demands but this definetely felt unwarranted. Moral of the story: don't "demand" service and you'll be fine, the server will be back soon enough. The cheese made it worth it though.

Exterior of the restaurant -- cool building

We really enjoyed our experience at Löwenbräu. Our server was fantastic; she really helped us feel at-ease, in spite of us being able to speak a small amount of German. The interior is your classic German pub feel: high, arching ceilings, wide, bench-like tables where multiple parties are seated near each other; and a lively, friendly atmosphere for conversation. We made friends with a kind Dutch man who was in Munich for business travel. It's great to be able to talk with strangers and hear about other parts of the world while eating dinner. Löwenbräu does have an English-translated menu, which was a nice benefit. My wife and I each ordered a dish that had pork (meat loaf, I believe they called it), two fried eggs, and potatoes. Simple dish, tons of food to eat. I believe it was around 10 Euros, or $12.50 USD based on the current exchange rate. Definitely recommend it.

Not a bad stop, you can't really go wrong with a beer garden. I had the House lager, it was good. I had sausages with sauerkraut for dinner. It was a huge portion with four sausages and lots of sauerkraut. It was really tasty! The beer garden is huge with lots of outdoor seating. Definitely a good stop in Munich!

I'm glad I had the opportunity to dine in this beautiful 150 year old restaurant. My review comes after its closure but it serves to honor the restaurant in hosting my visit. The Building is amazing where the walls and ceilings act as palettes for beautiful painted art. Stepping into the restaurant feel as if one is stepping through a time portal where one feels they are dining 151 years ago which is how old the building is. The ambiance is quite lively and energetic. Although the highlight is the space, the food is also very good. Their pretzels are served warm and fresh with a firm exterior and an interior that melts as it enters one's mouth. The soup is flavorful and healthy with not even a drop of oil pooling to the top. The schnitzel is as tender as it gets. The servers were knowledgeable and fast but it is always so busy that the restaurant should consider increasing staff as to improve customer service. Perfect location right in the heart of Marienplatz where the Glockenspiel is a stone's throw away. Overall, a wonderful restaurant to dine with great food and a beautifully historic setting!

We waited a bit outside - maybe about 15 minutes before we were given a table. Our waitress was great, but it was very obvious that they had a lot of tables to take care of in the extremely giant beer hall. If you need anything after you order and in between getting your food and paying, you'll need to wait a while. That being said, I think we're just used to extremely fast service in NYC. I had the Pork knuckle which was a whole roasted pork knuckle with home-made dark beer sauce and potato dumpling. We also had the Crispy roast pork with home-made dark beer sauce and potato dumpling. Both were excellent and the beer was also quite good. I had their signature wheat beer and then an Oktoberfest beer (because why not) and really enjoyed it. I do think I liked their signature wheat beer better, and would've gotten another one of those over the Oktoberfest one.

The Worst Experience of My LIFE !!!! (Das Schlimmste…read moreErlebnis meines LEBENS !!!!) This restaurant visit ruined what was supposed to be a wonderful day near Christmas. The service was shockingly unprofessional, unfriendly, and, most disturbingly, blatantly racist and discriminatory. Here's what happened during our visit on 20.11.2024, from 19:00 to 20:30: (Dieser Restaurantbesuch hat einen sonst wunderschönen Tag kurz vor Weihnachten vollkommen ruiniert. Unfriendly and Hostile Behavior When we ordered drinks, the female server practically threw the beer mat onto our table, displaying an outright lack of courtesy. (1. Disruptive Conduct During the Meal While we were eating, she carelessly threw items intended for other tables onto ours, disrupting our meal in the most unpleasant way. (2. Inappropriate Comments During Payment During the payment process, which we handled one by one, the card machine malfunctioned briefly. The server sarcastically remarked, "Thanks to the energy of the table..." or in German, "Die Energie des Tisches..."--a completely unnecessary and rude comment when we were simply sitting quietly and waiting. (3. Insulting Treatment After a Complaint After one of the guests at our table expressed dissatisfaction with the service, the server retaliated in an incredibly degrading manner. She used two beer mats to carry our used napkins into the tray, as though we were disgusting or unworthy of respect (see below illustration). This happened even after I had tipped for my part of the meal. (4. Dismissive Attitude While Ordering At the start, when I tried to order food and drinks together, the server rudely interrupted me, refusing to let me finish my sentence because I mentioned food (Schnitzel) before the drinks. (5. The service was not only terrible but deeply offensive. As a scientist, I am committed to reporting facts accurately, and every detail I've shared here reflects the absolute truth of what we experienced. This dinner, so close to CHRISTMAS, should have been an enjoyable and peaceful experience. Instead, it was destroyed by the disgraceful behavior of the staff. I do not know what we did to deserve such treatment, but I strongly urge anyone considering this place to think twice. If you value your peace of mind, avoid this restaurant--it could ruin your day too!
