We went during lunch time right when they open we had 6 people. After us only another party of 4 arrived after during the whole lunch time so it was pretty quiet. I ordered lamb kebabs with rice, it had saffron colour on the rice but not too much. There was a little butter for the rice as well. The lamb was really well done, I'm not used to that, so it was a bit dry, but I've heard it's the Persian style. It didn't have the strong taste that lamb usually have maybe due to the well done cooking. The grilled tomato was refreshing, not too sour. It's a big plate, so nice portion for the price.

Mixed platter!

Really enjoyed my dinner here the other night. Our server was very accommodating. When I couldn't decide between the zeytoon parvardeh with soup or the platter he made a swap to include the olives. It was delicious and the exact type of meal that I was craving. My friend enjoyed their kebab as well. Next time, I plan on trying their vegetarian walnut, pomegranate, and mushroom stew. The food came out quickly, too. The interior is pretty standard, a casual spot to catch up with friends and enjoy some reliable and tasty Persian food. Prices range in the $20s-30s for most mains.

Kebab vaziri (1 skewer of koobideh and 1 skewer chicken)

Friendly service and delicious Persian food! I loved their Mirza-ghasemi served with a side of naan barbari. They forgot the barberries with the rice for our Vaziri Kebab plate and when we asked for it, they were very generous and gave us a little cup full of barberies. I was also a big fan of their interior decoration which was very Persian-themed: Lion & Sun emblems, minakari plates on the walls, Qajari-style paintings, and classical santoor music playing in the background. My only complaint would be their limited hours -- they're only open until 9pm on Friday and Saturday nights which is disappointing for a Persian restaurant in the heart of downtown Toronto. Highly recommend this place!

Very cute restaurant. The food was good, the staff was very nice and accommodating. The service was good and fast. Really liked this place!!

Persian Taster

Yum! Lovely Persian atmosphere serving tenderly grilled skewers, basmati and dips (along with other special dishes we haven't yet had the opportunity to try. Service was quick and friendly. Will be back!

I was unfortunately disappointed by my experience ordering carry out from Darvish. I looked at the menu online then phoned in an order. I ordered the most-o-mooser and the fessenjoon. When I went to pick up the order, there was no bread. I said to the person working "there's no bread w/ the yogurt, but on the menu online it says it's served with Persian bread." He begrudgingly went back to the kitchen and came back with one piece of noon barbari for me. The fessenjoon was grainy and very oily (see photo). The walnuts were not cooked down enough. The rice and most-o-mooseer were good. Perhaps this place is better known for its kabobs, but I will not be coming back

They open for Persian breakfast on weekends from 10am!! Yelp is incorrect on the time to start listed as 12pm. Got there at noon and ordered pomegranate walnut stew with Fava dill rice and side of salad. Also got crispy rice and Persian rice pudding. Everything was delicious. We got our order to go and it was ready in like 10 minutes. Definitely worth visiting. Good quick service.

It's noticeable: Darvish makes their food with less salt, and that's great. Portions are not as big as in some of the other Persian restaurant ms, but that's okay with me. The food was tasty. Service was good although it seemed that the young guy serving us was learning. Prices are okay. Ambiance is okay -small and cozy.

I visited this shop with some Iranian friends who recommended this place for authentic Iranian food. The interior gives a cozy feel and the owners are very friendly. It really feels like a family run business. The owners are very active in the community, and proudly display a photo taken with Justin Trudeau on their wall. I tried the lamb shank which came with dill and saffron rice. I got a huge serving of the lamb in rich savory sauce. The sauce very salty so a little went a long way. The meat was very tender and didn't taste gamy at all. I packed the lamb that I couldn't finish to go; it made a great second meal with some fresh rice and flat bread. In general, I thought what I tried was decent, especially if they just used less salt. I thought the lamb shank was good bang for buck compared to the kebabs. I'm not against going again to try the other items, but I probably won't be the one suggesting it.

Ash Reshteh - Persian Soup of Legumes, Fresh Herbs, and Noodles Topped with Whey
Sel Z.

I came here during one of the coldest nights of the year, so the Ash Reshteh (Persian Soup of Legumes, Fresh Herbs, and Noodles Topped with Whey) was very warming and hearty! The herbs used in the soup were super aromatic and added a nice blend of flavours - delicious. The small restaurant gave a nice, cosy atmosphere.

This place focuses on Persian dishes, so the menu is a little different, but that's exactly what makes it interesting. We tried a couple of traditional items and everything was full of flavor. The bread was fresh and warm, and the dishes had that rich, comforting feel you don't usually get from typical brunch places. You can really taste the spices and how everything is made with care. The atmosphere is cozy and has a really authentic vibe, but it's not a big space, so it does get busy and there's usually a wait--especially on weekends. Service was friendly and helpful, especially if you're new to Persian food and not sure what to order. Overall, this is a great spot if you want something different from the usual brunch routine. Just come with a little patience and enjoy the experience.

Having eleven guest we found the table seating very cramped still to the point that guest were elbowing each other, it would have been nice if the restuarant had another table allocated for us just for more space. I ordered the Dizi (Abgoosht). It came with a soup that was a bit greasy, yogurt, pickled sides and a stewed lamb. It was well cooked but I wish the food was seasoned a bit less. Some of the kabob ordered by another guest made of ground beef was an oversalted hamburger meat in shape of kabob...it was not impressive. With our large party I thought it would be interesting to comment the restaurant automatically applied 15% tip. I would give this another try but perhaps not as a big party. It's also interesting to note none of the servers were not Persian. Salamati!

Tip#1: Add a bit (or a lot!) of Sumac seasoning (dark red powder in the shaker bottle) onto your kebob meat. It has an almost sour fruity taste which really balances out and adds an unique edge to the meaty kabobs. Tip#2: You'll get small packets of butter that you're supposed to mix & melt into your rice. //APPETIZERS// We tried their Maast-e Saadeh (yogurt dip) with Persian flatbread, Zeitoon Parvardeh (olives), and the Kal Kabob (eggplant with ground walnut & pomergranate) which was my favourite and quite sour. //ENTREES// I tried the Kubideh and Jujeh (Chicken Breast) Kabob, which were both delicious and juicy. The Kabob-e-Torsh veal sirloin meat was too tough, while the the pomegranate walnut molasses was interesting to try, know that it's quite sour too! I also substituted the rice for the salad which was too overdressed with vinaigrette. //DESSERT// My ABSOLUTE favourite thing we had was the Saffron Rosewater Ice Cream. It's beautifully plated and has the perfect balance of creamy, floral, and sweet flavours with crunchy pistachio & pomergranate seeds. I would come back to Sheherzade literally just to have that amazing Saffron Rosewater Ice Cream again & again!

The first course was Labneh with bread, hummus, & beef tartare. Second course was Lamb pide & pear salad. Third course was grilled branzino, middle eastern fried chicken, black truffle rice, and thrice cooked fries. Then there was dessert which was chocolate mousse cake & baklava. Because of my many food allergies the main server for our table was very attentive & specific in asking me what I wanted as modifications. For example I got a wagyu beef pide instead of the lamb. Every dish was really delicious, presented well & quite filling. I couldn't eat all of the food. Though I tried almost everything. Service: The pacing of the dishes was quite masterful. They really paid attention to when the food was going to come out. As I mentioned above the main server was very attentive to my food allergies. I really appreciated that as some restaurants aren't as attentive. The food was served family style so everyone could take what they wanted from the serving dishes. The dishes were served in little bowls along the tables with each bowl serving about 4 people. We had asked for one long table so it was a little snug. But we made it work. Ambiance: For dinner the lighting of the space is really dim. LOL. I would have appreciated just a little bit more light. The restaurant is in an old building so to use the washroom you had to go down two flights of stairs. The dining area is small also. But it's a pretty space. As mentioned above we asked for one long table to seat 15 people. I was expecting square tables but it was a bunch of small round tables pushed together. So the tables were really crowded with food from all the dishes. But the servers made sure to take empty serving dishes away as soon as possible. The music was a little loud for me so I had to yell to be heard. The place was packed though. Everyone at our table enjoyed the food, the service & atmosphere. The restaurant is close to Roy Thompson Hall & the other theatres nearby so it's a convenient location as well. It's too bad this place is only open for dinner. I would have loved to see how they would operate a lunch time service. In any case, Byblos was amazing. I would come back here again to try other dishes! Note: Some of my pics of the main dishes didn't turn out so it's mostly desserts that are pictures
