My only…read moreknowledge of the place was limited to one or two landmarks; the campus being much larger than HKU, covering the whole of the mountain; plus a few of the famous food items from their canteens. Luckily, there was one time when I visited the graduation show of CU Architectural Department, and a cool friend took me on a petite tour around the campus. The most special place that struck me was the Pavilion of Harmony next to some dormitory buildings, designed by an ex-architecture department professor Freeman Chan. In fact, it is merely as small pond at the top of a mole, embracing an age-old tree. When you go up the narrow ramp on the side, or simply walk up the few steps to the terrace where the pond sits, you would suddenly see this small pond, linking seamlessly with the ocean and the sky wayyyy beyond. There is also a narrow footpath on its side abutting the slope downwards, where you can overview the whole of the Science Park below. With just one simple gesture, it multiplies the sensations that the scene of this small mole brings to you. This is what good architecture would do to a natural scenery. It prooves that the act of building doesn't always equate destruction, but can also elevate and accentuate a place, when done right.

During my registration day here at CUHK I heard so much about each college (back then there were…read moreonly four - New Asia, Chung Chi, United and Shaw) and had been struggling to choose which one I should go for. Then I heard someone said this - "No final year project in New Asia". Okay, that just made my choice very easily. Thanks! If you ask me, I really do not know much about Chinese literature but one thing I know for certain is that Chinese literature and culture seem rather interwoven with New Asia college. You can tell by the statue of Confucius in the middle of the lawn where people often take pictures with it. Another thing I like about this college is that New Asia is always the destination for most school buses. As a person who often finds myself lost in the middle of nowhere, knowing that I will get to NA no matter which school bus I hop on certainly makes it all better. Unfortunately I had to say I was not that involved with the college activities and I was not that hardworking as a student, you can picture me burying my head in my laptop writing papers during assembly. Anyways, let me sum this up: I like that New Asia is a rather chill college that does not require you to take all kind of sports competition, does not make you a easy target during some chanting between colleges, and certainly does not make you worry about whether you will have enough marks to get a room in the dormitory.

It started mid morning 10a.m. Met the tour guide outside the metro station, grabbed a local bus up the mountain and started the trek 128m from the summit. It's chockers full of people so go earlier !. We set a crazy pace up the massive steps, stones and earth. Stopped only to catch a view and a quick breath. Everyone was out there but it was absolutely lovely and shady. The views of course were well worth it!. We diverted to walk down steps after the reservoir to get to Big Wave Bay where local surfers hang out. Ended the hike in 2.5 hours ( give yourself 4 to 5 hours, our guide was fast). Spent the next 45 minutes by the beach watching the waves and cooling down. Best time is winter for cool weather. Best time for wildlife is July!

This is a great Medium difficulty hike with spectacular views of the beaches and bays on either…read moreside of the island. Take a bus to drop you off at the trailhead and start your hike up the mountain. Total time to hike the trail took about 2 hours at a brisk pace. If you're taking a leisurely stroll it will take much longer. I would recommend doing the hike that leads to Big Wave Bay where you can grab a bite to eat by the beach while watching the surfers catch some waves.

I will try again tomorrow) I've been to 2x Mong Kok (Lost Den & Aching Time of Pi) and 1x CWB (Level 6) All the rooms have been really fun! The Lost Den was easier and was also the first one I ever did. It was a steady progression to find the clues, not like some of the others I've been, where it was nearly impossible to find the clues. The decor at Lost HK is nice too. There's even mechanical/machinery decor. Some of the other ones I've been to were just props. Lost HK spends a decent amount on their renovation and it shows! I went with colleagues as a team building activity and with friends. I personally think 4 people is best for these games, 6 is usually too many and you have some people standing around because you only get like 3-4 flashlights. The unlimited hints was really helpful. I think we annoyed the workers there heh. Their english was not so good though. So probably better speaking to them in Chinese. They do sell drinks but bring your own if you want. They have lockers for your bag, you're not supposed to bring your phone in. Which may be a good thing, phone-free for 45 minutes, that's a rare occasion these days! *** Tip: 4 people for maximum productivity. Book early and online. I've gotten coupons from groupon/beecrazy before but even without, it's cheap. If this is your first time, I recommend you do an easy one. It's not as easy as you think! Favourites: All 3 rooms I've done were fun. Meh: One of the clues required listening to the head phone but the voice recorded was too muffled to make out what was being said Last words: I think this is a really cool concept for team building too. Hong Kong Disneyland offers a very enjoyable and unique Disney experience. You can access the park…read moreeasily by train which drops you off directly at the entrance. We chose to take a taxi instead and the ride was just over 20 minutes across the water which was still very convenient. One of the biggest highlights is the shorter wait times compared to Disneyland in the US. The park feels much more spacious and less congested as you move between each section, even though the rides themselves are just as exhilarating. The region exclusive merchandise is a huge plus and makes shopping feel more special. Unlike the US parks, adults here often dress up and you are allowed to bring tripods and larger cameras which adds to the overall atmosphere. The food, snacks and drinks are also very reasonably priced. Fast passes are relatively inexpensive and can be well worth it on weekends. We were able to skip a few 60 minute plus lines for about 30 dollars which felt like a great value. Overall, Hong Kong Disneyland is a fun, relaxed and well designed park. If you like Disney, this is definitely a must try experience.

A thin light jacket would suffice for later in the evening. The theme park is clean and equipped with water stations for people to replenish their bottles. There are also plenty of bathrooms and we did not have to wait in line. For lunch, we dined in at the Plaza Inn. Five of us shared two orders of siu mai with scallop, one order of custard bun, braised e-fu noodles, sweet and sour pork, and stir-fried chili peppers with black bean garlic sauce. The food was freshly made and very flavorful. Service was attentive and friendly. For a theme park, lunch at less than $30 per person is reasonable. For dinner, we dined in at the Royal Banquet Hall. We were not particularly hungry so the five of us shared the baked pork chop rice and sizzling platter with steak, chicken, sausage, green beans, and fries. The portions were fairly large but we cleared everything. The pork chop is very tender. The sizzling platter was mediocre but it was nice to have some greens and the kids would never reject French fries. As for entertainment, our young girls, 6.5 and 5 years old, checked off everything that they liked. The average wait for the rides was mostly around 20 minutes so it was very reasonable and manageable. In addition to rides, my girls also enjoyed the shows, parade, and fireworks. They did most of the walking on their own until the last hour and they fell asleep before the firework show started. We had to wake them up by giving them chocolate so they could enjoy a few minutes of fireworks before we left to get a head start and beat the crowd to the MTR.

There are different play areas for kids with swings, slides, bars, etc. There are also areas where adults can do some strength-building and stretches.
