I will try again tomorrow) I've been to 2x Mong Kok (Lost Den & Aching Time of Pi) and 1x CWB (Level 6) All the rooms have been really fun! The Lost Den was easier and was also the first one I ever did. It was a steady progression to find the clues, not like some of the others I've been, where it was nearly impossible to find the clues. The decor at Lost HK is nice too. There's even mechanical/machinery decor. Some of the other ones I've been to were just props. Lost HK spends a decent amount on their renovation and it shows! I went with colleagues as a team building activity and with friends. I personally think 4 people is best for these games, 6 is usually too many and you have some people standing around because you only get like 3-4 flashlights. The unlimited hints was really helpful. I think we annoyed the workers there heh. Their english was not so good though. So probably better speaking to them in Chinese. They do sell drinks but bring your own if you want. They have lockers for your bag, you're not supposed to bring your phone in. Which may be a good thing, phone-free for 45 minutes, that's a rare occasion these days! *** Tip: 4 people for maximum productivity. Book early and online. I've gotten coupons from groupon/beecrazy before but even without, it's cheap. If this is your first time, I recommend you do an easy one. It's not as easy as you think! A concept originally brought in by the Japanese, Free Hong Kong is essentially a life-sized RPG where participants enter a themed room to solve a series of puzzles to get out of the scenario within 45 minutes. The location in Causeway Bay has a few themes that appeal to youngsters (zombie, ghost, archaeological adventure, etc). So far I have tried the vampire and archaeology themes but have never been able to solve it, which is a big insult considering during both times solving the puzzle with me are a group of pretty successful street-smart entrepreneurs and top-university educated friends. Each scenario comprises of 3 locked rooms which you need 'free' from by solving a riddle/puzzle as a group. The puzzles usually involve numbers or pattern or some sort of twisted arithmetic. It's not really difficult, task-wise, but you just need to have some lateral thinking to hack some of these. Why I say this is awesome for first dates is that you get to witness your date working under pressure and amongst people of varying intelligence and working styles. Things really could get ugly and true colors do come out in the wash, thereby saving money and eventual heartbreaks. Oh one thing that takes away the star: it's mostly Chinese speaking (staff are very local) and somehow it always smells like teen spirit (aka sweat) there.

It was quite offputting but once you hang around long enough, you'll get used to the space. The decor was decent, akin to a random bar in Wanchai, so don't expect high end (photos look nicer) but for the price, I was very satisfied. There was one nice girl who was manning the space and she was helping me with pouring out the drinks and putting the wine in the fridge. The venue is spacious, approx 1000sq ft with a decent bathroom. It has a large couch that can easily fit 6 and a table with bench that can squeeze 6 people, there are also a couple stools by the balcony. We had 20 people comfortably and I would say it can fit up to 30 people without feeling like a club. I had wine delivered a couple hours before the event and it was smoothly received, however this has to be coordinated. Overall it came to about $200pp including alcohol for 3 hours of fun. Definitely recommended! I reckon Blackroom 1 may be cleaner since Blackroom 2 is used for drinking and 1 is just for day-time use. *** Tip: Book in advance! A decently decorated private party room for rental. Spacious enough to hold a party for 80+ people…read moreprobably (my own estimation - better check with venue) if not more... it also has an outdoor section with BBQ facilities. Friend booked this place as we want some privacy (as we can be very noisy...) and one of our friends would like to bring her dog. One can discuss with the venue for the preferred catering option and we asked the venue to provide the steam seafood congee pot. Was starving so didn't take any pictures of the food lol. But as far as I remembered we had shrimp, geoduck, razor clam, giant grouper, clam... and of course the congee in the end. All you can drink soft drinks and Haizhu beer (?) are available as well which is quite a good deal for HK$285 per head
