Let's not forget about the collective memories, let's not forget about the narrower-than-ever Victoria Harbor, and let's not forget about how government handled the whole issue/project so poorly. But man, having a promenade on the Island side was a pretty unreal experience until the recently years.
The promenade is vaguely divided by the Macau Ferry Terminal, I have been to both, but usually with a well defined purpose, e.g. the large scale events on the huge plain next to the Star Ferry Terminal.
But one of my friends told me she'd often walk from IFC to the Tamar Park during lunch hours, via the promenade. You know, and never thought of it, just walking, no purpose, and enjoy the view.
I did it eventually one sunny afternoon, and it was amazing. Sometimes you just need to take a break and realize how beautiful this city really is. No kidding. That's especially ironically day as it was just in the middle of the Umbrella Movement, a couple of days after the huge conflict on Lung Wo Road. And unlike TST, it is quite further away from all tourist spots, so no annoying tourists running their luggage over your toes.
Would have been a 5 star if we haven't given up so much of the harbor and memories to make this promenade happens, or if government handled it marginally better. read more
